RG3 the second best QB prospect since Peyton Manning?
In case you missed it.
Over on mockingthedraft, user durst put together a nice little comparison between RG3 and other top-rated QB prospects since Manning. I'm conflicted on whether or not we should (or could) go after him. Nevertheless, this post should dispel the myth, which pops up now and again, that he is a running QB.
Is It OK to Wear a Chiefs Jersey to a Super Bowl Party?
It's a shame Chiefs fans. Here it is February and KC has yet again to "gargle the sweet nectar" of the Super Bowl...
Würst Night Ever.
In the post game press conference Norv Turner was asked "Do you have an explanation [for] what happened on that snap?" This question will undoubtedly be asked repeatedly in the aftermath of Kansas City’s gutsy win. Everybody seems to be overlooking what actually happened, but not the AP faithful.

I know yesterday the media was having a cornhole frenzy... But here is a clip of the game inside KC's locker room. Just scroll to the right on the carousel, it should be the 5th, 7th and 8th clips.
Inexplicably, Tim Tebow is a candidate for NFLN/GMC "Never Say Never Moment" of the week. Y'know, as in "Never say he'll never pull off the win." Kind of like Matt Cassel actually did...

Aubrayo Franklin re-signs with 49ers?
According to Chris Biderman (@Chris_OaklandFR) Aubrayo Franklin has re-signed with the Niners. I can't say anything about the authenticity of the report, considering his primary function on the 'webs seems to be blogging about Oakland A's farm team. From his own tagline, 49ers reporting seems to be an afterthought.
Chiefs Fan Going to Chiefs @ Texans. Southern Hospitality Needed.
Howdy. I will be making my way to H-Town (from Aggieland) with some friends to catch the Chiefs vs. Texans. I am originally from Kansas City and unfortunately know nothing about Houston. I was hoping to get a little feedback before heading out and I thought you all would be a great start.
My Questions are as follows and everyone else feel free to post your questions and answers in the comments. In addition, I will be putting this up on Arrowhead Pride, the SBN Chiefs site, and pointing some folks over.
First off, my tickets were purchased in-absentia and this ruled out a parking pass (couldn't shell out the ~$50 it would cost to buy one online). So I will be parking and riding the MetroRail.
So I was wondering if any of y'all (see I have learned something at Texas A&M) natives know of a good place to park so that I may hit up a (preferably Chiefs-friendly) bar or two on the way to catching the rail? Additionally, It would be awesome to find a Chiefs tailgate before going indoors. In which lot would I have the best chance to find one? I used to could (see... learning!) just walk around Arrowhead and find parties everywhere, but I'm sure it will be more of a challenge for me at Reliant. By the way, are there any MetroRail lots that are dedicated to gameday, which allow tailgating?
Heading to Chiefs vs. Texans Game. Anybody Else?
Hey all. I will be making my way to H-Town (from Aggieland) with some friends to catch the Chiefs vs. Texans. I was hoping to get a little feedback before heading out and I thought you all would be a great start. I'm sure there have to be some other APers going and maybe we can get all our questions answered and possibly get together.
My Questions are as follows and everyone else feel free to post your questions and answers in the comments. In addition, Iwill be putting this up on Battle Red Blog, the SBN Texans’ site, so that may be a better forum for your specific question.

I'm sure I'll catch hell for this, but I couldn't resist. The whole ordeal is overblown and downright funny, IMHO.

Robert Ayers GIF NSFW (printed F-word)
I was re-watching the KC-DEN week 17 matchup and was reminded of that cheap body-slam that Ayers put on Charles. So, I put together this little GIF that sums up my feelings toward Mr. Ayers. I had originally planned on FSing this, but seeing it emblazoned on the FS page, I thought I would... ahem... be more discreet.

Monday Night Football Page
Here is the link to Chiefs-Chargers MNF page. I know it feels wrong to read Chiefs stories on any site other than AP, but savor the moment... who knows when we'll be there again.
Projecting running backs, receivers and spread quarterbacks with Doug Farrar of Football Outsiders
… I’m just amazed at how often teams select players that don’t fit their schemes. The Chiefs and Jaguars keep switching between 3- and 4-man fronts, and they keep drafting the guys on the wrong end of the scheme curve.
Idea for a Weekly Series, Need Input.
Aiight AP, I would like to start a weekly Fanpost series titled: "Know Your AP Meme: such and such Edition". I think this is something that will allow us "Juniors" and Seniors to relive the glory years and provide a catalog for Freshmen to get up to speed.
I got the idea after seeing Joel and Chris explain a couple of memes to some of the uninitiated and realizing that their time would be better served producing award-winning content and shoring up advertising bucks
I have some ideas for both content and format/layout, but I wanted to get some ideas from the crowd before I began. Both old and new users, if your eyes happen to see this FS, please add something to the comments below. Links and specific phrases would be appreciated.

Kansas City Chiefs: 2010 Final Mock Draft Version 5.0
I have seen this mock linked to here on AP before, but here is the latest version (V5.0).
If this came to fruition, I would think the Chiefs receive a score of 95/100 on the 2010 draft.
I wanted to know what everybody thinks about the viability/availability of the players listed.
Since there is a Thomas Jones video on the main page, I thought I would share one. Here he is in High School (blue #6).
More public praise for Weis as Offensive Coordinator in KC
"I know he loved him as a coach," Cassel said. "He talked about him all the time and would always tell me what a huge impact he had on his career. He tells me he's a great leader and a great coach and he provides great direction."
Downward Spiral in Black-Hole Continues
Reports indicate that Russell missed the Raiders' final team meeting of the 2009 season. Not a big deal if, as it was originally believed, Russell missed the meeting for "personal reasons". It's a bit more of a big deal if, as we have now learned, Russell took off for Las Vegas in lieu of that final meeting.
No Need to Throw in the (Terrible) Towel, Just Yet.
From the FanPosts. Bumped it up until now for the evening post. -Chris
No, Seriously.
Every week, the topic of discussion in our most popular posts, examine what the Chiefs must do to beat this week's opponent. Facing the World Champions in week 11, (who are looking to wash the bitter taste of being swept by a division rival with the blood of a 2-7 team) some fans are suggesting the only win we are capable of celebrating is leaving the stadium with no major injuries.
I'm here to argue that an evaluation of the Bengals' performance in the week 10 win, shows that Kansas City actually may have a decent shot at going 3-7. Hopefully this won't come off as too much of a leap.
Go ahead. Leap with me.

A Pittsburgh Steelers fans alleges he has been left blind because of what was in a spiked drink given to him by a Chicago Bears fan.

Todd Haley's Demotion of Receivers Coach No Big Deal

Interesting take on the recent demotion of Dedric Ward. Here is a picture from a New York Times article published Aug 25 1999. Note #89.
Haley's press conference after first day of camp.
Haley designed the offense and called plays the last two years for the high-scoring Arizona Cardinals, but will set aside those abilities, at least to start the season. Haley reserved the right to take over later in the season but said Monday that offensive coordinator Chan Gailey would call the plays.
I Have the Power!
At a time of the year where the most interesting stories on our front page contain the title "_ Days to Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp" and "The Greatest Kansas City Chiefs, By the Numbers," my mind begins to wander . The strange direction it took recently was spurred by the recent resurgence of interest in my favorite childhood shows by the public at large. We all know that Scott Pioli is "the Don," but perhaps there is another (less maleficent than Vito Corleone) character, which sums the traits of Mr. Pioli. Sifitng though the Captain-type figures of my most beloved cartoons, I worked on connections to Transformers, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, etc. After much doting on topics which take up entirely too much of my attention, I arrived at a perfect fit.
Considering the traits of the Don: power, dedication, wisdom, protector... I recalled imitating these traits while reenacting my favorite childhood cartoon. What I hadn’t accounted for was how many other great parallels exist between this fictional universe and the Chiefs Universe.
*Disclaimer: Forgive any gender mismatches please. Character images and descriptions come directly from this site, which to my best estimation was produced by a 12 year-old in approximately 1993. Make sure you scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Masters of the Universe image to enter. Don’t forget to sign his guestbook before you leave. Don't laugh... this dude has had almost 1.5 million visits to his site.

More Photoshop Fun: Philip Rivers as the Joker
Inspired by a recent post by Patty titled "Chargers to Score 535 Points this Season!" in which he covers a story over on sbNation's Chargers blog, I decided to weigh in on the debate as best I know how. As you can imagine I was utterly perplexed by the idea of the league's most distinguished underachievers averaging 33.4 ppg and finishing 14-2. Here are my thoughts: They must be joking.

Accurately Gauging Larry Johnson's Trade Value
Slow day indeed. From the FanPosts. -Chris
Another slow day, so I thought it would be the right time to post this information.
Recently, Chris put up a post examining LJ's trade value. In his text he discusses LJ's value in terms of his recent production and expected production. He also hashes out the trade value of RBs throughout the league in an attempt to determine where LJ's stock might lie. To me, the interesting part was the poll at the end. With an amazing 1400+ respondents, Chiefs fans estimate LJ's trade value to be about a 3-4 rounder with apx 12% suggesting no trade value.
This got me thinking about how other teams' fans might value LJ. To borrow terms from behavioral psychology and application to business performance evaluation, has our fanaticism and proximity introduced (i) a leniency bias or (ii) a central tendency? Have we overvalued him because he is a Chief? Are we attempting to not be as severe (because we want him to be worth more) while simultaneously attempting to not be too lenient (because of his off-the-field issues and recent lack of production, i.e. poor DVOA and DYAR).
To put it another way, perhaps we are not the best group to ask. So, using Chris' conclusions from another recent post, I decided to poll Eagles and Cardinals fans on what they think LJ would be worth to them.
Surprising to me, the results weren't wildly divergent. I'll let you check for yourselves, but I want to point out a few interesting features.
First, the number of respondents who think LJ has no trade value:
Eagles: 30%
Cardinals: 21%
Chiefs: 14% -Seems to be a bit of a leniency bias.
Second, the peak of the distribution for the three teams:
Eagles: 3rd round- 20%
Cardinals: 3rd round- 25%
Chiefs: 3rd round- 28% -We seem to have nailed his trade value among those who would have him.
Third, who values him higher (more 1st and 2nd round percentage points)
Eagles: 11%
Cardinals: 22%
Chiefs: 10% -Cardinals. Nearly as many people would be satisfied with a 2nd as with a 3rd. Or, 47% of Cards fans would be happy with a 3rd.
Of course, these figures don't really mean anything. But, in my analysis it seems we have evaluated LJ's trade value fairly accurately with, perhaps, a slight central tendency. Also, it looks as if the Cardinals would offer a more valuable trade. One interesting thing to note: Eagles fans seem to be more inclined to offer multiple picks, suggesting a more realistic trade scenario and making them the more likely trade partner.
Please share your thoughts everyone.
