Afflicted by hockey at the tender age of 5. Blues were my team with Bobby Plager and Bobby Orr my heroes. Many pucks and fists to the mouth later and I'm still wanting more.
My one dying wish is to kiss the cup under the Arch, along with Jennifer Connelly.

Hitch's Switch. TSN video on Hitchcock
About his weight and turnaround of his lifestyle to the Caveman Diet. Good stuff with Langenbrunner, Hullie, Mellanby, Morrow,
Fire Mission. Last remnant of Winterland. Penalty Box Sign.
Billy Madison on the STLToday Blues forum said he went by the old Blues practice rink Winterland in Bridgeton today and the Penalty Box bar out front is now some sort of appliance store. Definitely gone (although the sign for the plaza still has "Penalty Box" at the top of it). They're ripping down all of our old stomping grounds so we have a fire mission.
CBC HNIC Stanley Cup Playoffs Tribute 2011 (HD).
This shit gives me the goose pimples. Go full screen and crank it up.

Moose love in USA Today 12/22/2011
Good article in USA Today yesterday about Moose and him staying out till the forwards were done shooting in practice. Even taking all the high blasts without whining like some goalies. Luv me some Moose.
I've seen more goalies in the last 12 to 24 months get shots off the helmet and collarbone. He just shrugs it off and stays in there."
Hard core.
They had a tribute on FSN tonight on the Blues vs Avs game for cameraman Dave "Big Dog" Anderson. He lost his battle with cancer at the age of 54.
Blue skies Big Dog.
Denis Lemieux the goalie from Slapshot with some Blues love. Thanks Yvon.
2012 Stanley Cup odds. Blues 75 to 1? I don't think so.
Hines wins hearts, minds on the ice and on the ground
Awesome story of a warrior and hockey player with a Blues connection.
Blue skies Derek.
Lil help on IDing this Blues player from the Blues Hockey School in 1971 at Winterland. Some have offered Craig Cameron but others say the ears are not big enough.
Anyone? Thanks.
Also if you can add any names to the pic. So far we have James Wehrenbrecht with the pads on and Kevin Whitworth (the big guy in the back row) his dad Jim Whitworth was a coach at Winterland and in the St. Louis Amatuer HHOF. http://www.stlamhhof.com/2010/JamesWhitworth/index.html
Please rate how bad it's going to suck if DP57 is not knocking the biscuit around on opening night. Please use the courtesy "Suck Scale". The scale only goes to 8 for some reason, I missed Atomic Wedgie due to running out of canvas in Photochop.
I got him missing the opener as a solid 7 on the Suck Scale right now, gonna be an 8 come Sept.
Bruins bar tab from last week. Holy mackerel LOL. The Bruin Bear drank all the Buds?
Party on!!
P.S. well, since SB Nation shrinks the shit out of pics you'll need to go here to view the tab.
http://www.jesseshunting.com/images/bruins_bar_tab_2010_cup.jpg
Just a thought SB Nation, smaller rez with a clickable full rez pic would be a great option to have.
P.S.S. Since the URL to the pic doesn't automatically change into a link here you'll have to copy and paste it. What millennium is it again?
Blue Note Plymouth Barracuda Car Pics
Back in 19 hundred and 70 Glendale Plymouth in STL gave some of the Blues players their own blue and white 1970 Plymouth Barracaudas to drive around, complete with Blue Notes on them. Imagine being in the Stanley Cup and getting a muscle car free to drive around in?

1971decal from Blues Hockey School at Winterland from Larry L. in our Winterland group.
From Larry: "Barc gave that to me at one of the two day clinics he used to run. Barc was my neighbor for ten years and sometimes he would come to the tennis courts where we played hockey as kids. The first guy to ever lift my stick from behind. I gave him the same look that kids gave me when I did it to them."
From Rob M.: "I attended the Blues hockey school at Winterland in the summer of 1971. It was either a 2 or 4 week session, I don't remember which. I remember that Barclay Plager was there every day and pretty much ran the show. He was a great guy and got along great with the kids. I remember Red Berensen, Bob Plager and Ernie Wakely showing up for a few days. There was a kid named Corky who was unanimously believed to be the best player. Once I got obnoxious and stole the puck from Red Berensen, just so I could say that I did it.
Some days, they would show an instructional film on a movie projector on different aspects of hockey...passing, defense, etc. One day the movie was about checking. When they demonstrated a hip check, a big cheer went up. When the movie was over, we insisted that Barclay run the whole film backwards and he did it. He was great with that kind of thing...he wanted to give us good instruction and he wanted it to be fun.
I remember Barclay once gave us a lecture against using curved sticks. He said all the great players, like Red Berensen and Gordie Howe, all used straight sticks. "

CBC rocks!! Not only do you get the great French accents and HNIC you don't get the uptight censors who deprive of us of all the views.
Wait for it tit.
Garry Unger & Tom Glenn Go Into The STL Amateur Hockey HOF
Here's the 2011 STL Amateur Hockey HOF inductees. Garry Unger was the Spirit Award inductee this year. Make sure and check out Garry's induction video where he tells the story about fighting Noel Picard and Bobby Plager when he was with Detroit. He also takes time to talk about Gasser in his speech and that fateful day, you can hear a pin drop in that room as he remembers Bob's passing.

Tom Glen, we knew him as Tommy, the rink guard from Winterland and the great Jr, B forward for the Comets and Blazers. Tommy was one of my inspirations to learn to play hockey and ice skate. He was one of the older kids that us rink rats all looked up to and wanted to be like. Now he's passing his love for the game on to the new wave of kids in St. Louis.
Congrats Tommy, ya made us all proud dude.
For a peek back at those times, check out this pic and the lid. Make sure and read the comments about the brawls at Winterland in the penalty box and stands. LOL

Charlie Eberle. It was because of Charlie bringing Jr. B hockey to STL that many of us were able to take that step up to the next level of hockey. I left for the USAF after playing only one year Jr. B and missed the first Jr. B tourney in STL. Thank you Charlie for all that you did for us kids.
Rainbow Rockets version 1.0, 1969-70. from our Winterland Group. The "Rockets" as they were know were the shit for STL traveling midgets, pee wees, mites and bantams. Rainbow colors and lettering on powder blue uniforms probably wouldn't fly today LOL. They had custom hockey bags and jackets and you always knew when the Rockets were in the lobby to play a game or practice.
The bonus with this pic is it was taken in the old barn after the first league tournament. The first year of the Rockets there were two age squads: Squirt and Pee Wee, this is a picture of the Pee Wee team. Check the Falstaff sign over the entrance way, one of the Blues' sponsors in the early years.
George Wade Jr., is back row far left with the "A". I played PHS and Jr. B Florissant Stars with George Wade Jr.His dad George Sr. coached PHS and the Jr. B Stars in 1976-77.
Donnie Dowling is center row with jacket and Mark Martin and Peter Green are in the pic.. Please holler if you recognize anyone, we're getting old and sometimers is kicking our azzes.
Larger rez pic if you need a better look. http://www.jesseshunting.com/images/rainbow_rockets_69-70_arena.jpg
From Herm B. in our Winterland Facebook group:
"The original St. Louis Blues Hockey School held at Winterland Ice Arena. This is from 1967. I attended both summers of 1967 and 1968.
Pictured St. Louis Blues Instructors were: Red Berenson, Noel Picard, Bill McCreary and Jimmie Roberts. Barclay Plager was also an instructor (but not in this photo).
I remember waiting to get on the ice and watching Noel and Barclay standing at opposing blue lines taking slap-shots at each other. Red Berenson and Ron Koblick (Corky Koblick's dad) became very good friends (Mr. Koblick was also the man who drafted me to the Comets). In the summer of 1977, Red and Mr. Koblick produced the "Red Berenson Hockey School" and I worked at the school for the two weeks it was open. Bruce Affleck was also an instructor with Red. Great memories from Winterland!"
===============================================
If anyone recognizes anyone we're looking to put some names to these faces. Thanks.

The pizz poor ref situation suddenly becomes oh so clear.
Tim Thomas from the Bruins showing off his goalie mask with the bowhunter on far right. Tim said he was heavy into bowhunting before hockey and can't wait to get back into it after he retires.
Since he's one with the arrow I take back what I said about his meltdown 2 years ago against STL. He's a bowhunting brudder.

NHL Playoffs GDT 13 April 2011. The Quest Begins.
STARS vs WILD GDT. 10 April 2011
Time to dance on that Chicago grave. Detwat spanked the Craphawks in a 4-3 win earlier today, now we need the Stars to step up and take care of bidness against the Wild. Make sure and wear black so we can mourn the loss of the Craphawks from the plyaoffs this year. I'm getting all weepy already. A win or OT win will work for us. Game time is 5pm CST.
