The odds of the lock out lasting through the season are slim, but this again shows Larry Scott is looking at all ways of increasing the Pac-12's exposure.

"I wish I knew how I could tailor this information better to help coaches," Pomeroy said. "I can’t communicate information the way that I read it because it will overwhelm them and make their eyes bleed. I feel like I need to whittle it down to two or three highlights."

He also says it is his intention to have the Oregon and Oregon State home games at Qwest every year.

"I haven’t done that much studying on that job," Bellotti said in a telephone interview.

"Bill and I are very close friends. If we talk about it at some point, that’s one thing, but we haven’t had any discussions."

Asked if he would be interested in the WSU job if Moos contacted him, Bellotti said, "Well, I don’t know. That hasn't happened, so I wouldn’t even conjecture if that would go."

Based on Washington's schedule, it looks like we will play @Cal and host Stanford, which makes sense. Given that UW plays @ USC, I would bet we will be hosting UCLA.

They miss out on ASU, meaning we will play ASU and will miss out on either AZ, Utah, or Colorado. The Apple cup is November 26th, with the Pac-12 championship on Dec. 3rd. We should know our entire schedule soon.

I plan on asking him if he's ever shot a Moose.

This could create an awkward 2011 with 11 teams in the Pac-10/12.

CougCenter CougCenter Fantasy Baseball

The sun is shining and the smell of fresh cut grass is in the air. Therefore, it's time to spend hours behind a keyboard looking up obscure stats of marginal outfielders. It's fantasy baseball time. I'm starting a league through yahoo.com exclusive to Cougcenter followers. Just a couple notes:

CougCenter Conference Recruiting Comparison

I wanted to take a quick look at how the major conferences stacked up against each other in this year's recruiting. I broke it down into five categories. For the first two categories, I averaged the results between Scout, Rivals, and ESPN's rankings. These two categories are top 10 and top 25 ranked teams.

For the last three categories, I relied only on Scout's rankings. The rationale being ESPN does not rank beyond the top 25 and Rivals' rankings get shaky after the top teams. The third category is top 40 teams and the fourth category is the number of teams with 3.0 or better 'star average'. The final category is the average ranking of all the teams in a conference. In parentheses is the conference rank. The results:

They could not meet the 80% threshold to start construction this spring. Sterk is now looking at 2012 as the hopeful date to have the renovations done.

CougCenter Speaking of 2010 schedules, look at Florida's

This is from benzduck at Addicted to Quack, I just wanted to pass this along as more evidence that Pac-10 teams have to do way more in the way of playing good teams and traveling across the country, only to get no credit for it. As Nuss says, all that matters is they are in the EEESSSSSSS SEEEEEE SEEEEEEE.

He broke Jim Brown's all time club record of 237 rushing yards.

Dancing Football Edit: Bumped to the front page because I would not want Jerome Harrison's last bit of effort in his campaign to win Coug of the Decade go unnoticed. Go Jerome!

In the Coaches poll they received 12 votes, unofficially placing them 38th overall. In the AP poll they got 4 votes, making them 50th.

"CF.C: How much progress has been made toward the Dec. 18 goal of selling 80 percent of the 2,200 premium seats that you plan to add to Martin Stadium in 2011 or 2012?

Sterk: I don’t know exactly where we’re at. We have more orders than we have available on the loge seating, and 20 of those people have made $100,000 gifts or more, so there’s strength there. We were counting noses yesterday on suites. We’re closing in on those being sold out.

CF.C: Will you be able to start construction this spring so all or at least some of the new seats will be available for the 2011 season?

Sterk: We set that (80 percent) deadline to try to get people to make a decision … if we get over, which I think we will, 60 percent sold by the end of this year, then we’re full steam ahead (to begin construction in the spring)."

The short of it is, we will be on FSNW and FCS national for the first two games. The last game gets a little dicey. If we are in the Championship game, it will be on FCS live, and tape delayed the next morning on FSNW. If we happen to slip up and play in the 3rd place game, it is only available on Direct TV and Dish sports packs.

Wulff had better put these comments up on the chalk board this week. The players need to know what Charlie thinks of them.

Its the highest the cougs have ever been ranked in the preseason poll in the 10 years its been around.

But let me get this strait. In the 06-07 season UW went 18-13 (11-7). UW fires Daugherty. In 06-07 the cougs went 5-24 (1-17). Cougs hire Daugherty. After two seasons, cougs predicted to finish 6th, UW 10th. (!?!)

Jake Locker thinks so. Maybe he forgot the cougars have won 4 of the last 5 games, and none of those 5 games were decided by more than 7 points.

CougCenter Top 5 Reasons why that was a poorly coached game

5. Not going for 2. We should have gone for 2 after the first score making it an 11 point game (FG, TD, 2pt). Wulff was obviously not thinking about it.

4. Totally inept offense with one HUGE exception. Both our TD's were the result of great catches. Other than those two plays, everything was bad. Bad throws, horrible line play, no running game, and bad play calling.

3. Predictable play calling. The running game was terrible because the line could not getting any push. Time and time again we ran it on first down only to see a 2 yard loss. Deep into the 3rd and the 4th, still running it on first down. No real change to that failed strategy.

2. Punting when needed to go for it. Five minutes left, down 2 touchdowns, 2 timeouts, you need to go for it. I don't care if the defense was playing well (hats off to the defense). One first down and they take the clock under 3 minutes (which they did) and essentially seal the game.

1.  Penalties! We tested out the ref's memory of some pretty obscure rules. Here is a partial list of the penalties we had: Illegal formation, illegal snap, sideline interference, and illegal punt. These are on top of the holdings, Offensive PI, personal fouls, facemasks, ect.  I'm not saying these are Wulff's fault, but it is indicative of how focused and how prepared the team is. Which is to say, not well.

For those who were not at the game, you may not have heard this. After the muffed kick return that left us at the 3 yard line PA announcer Glenn Johnson accidentally left his mike on and said "Oh No! OHHHH NOOOO". The whole student section burst into laughter. Everyone on the cougar sideline looked embarrassed. The crowd was essentially laughing at their ineptitude.
