Austin born & bred. I'm all about the Longhorn Nation. I hate d-OU-ches, loathe the farmers, and dislike tortillas. Hook Em Baby! I'm also a life long Cowboys fan, just some years more subdued than others.

Happy Valentine's Day BON! - Austin #1 For Dating thanks to UT
"Austin's music scene isn't all that rocks – this city's dating scene doesn't skip a beat, with singles comprising more than half the local population thanks largely to the University of Texas campus." Oh, I'm sorry aggies, but College Station didn't make the list because it's only about human-on-human love.

AP voter says LSU can't drop out of No. 1
"I honestly feel this is the first year somebody is getting screwed by the system because they beat a team on the road, won the division, won the conference and now the system is saying, 'Play it again, this time on a neutral field.'" The 39-year old radio host in Albuquerque, N.M. is going to vote LSU No. 1 pretty much win or lose following the BCS title game.

Too Good to Be True: 'Durantula' Rules
(Nice story about Kevin by Jay Mariotti)
LOS ANGELES -- Up in the restaurant of a swank, oceanside hotel, actor Edward Norton is noticed by all as he lunches with Hollywood types at a corner table. Down in the lobby, a few feet away, people walk past Kevin Durant like he's a potted plant. He sits and talks about his nascent career in comparative anonymity, smiling as he relates a story that outlines perfectly his status as The Best Young Athlete America Needs To Know.
Kevin Durant High-Dribbler In Win With 186 Bounces
(Sorry but I thought we could use a laugh)
OKLAHOMA CITY—Thunder guard Kevin Durant dribbled the ball 73 times in the fourth quarter, leading all dribblers with 186 bounces in Oklahoma City's win against the New York Knicks Saturday. "At first I was trying to just be patient and dribble only when I had to, like to avoid traveling and to run the offense," said Durant, who is third in the league with 147.6 dpg and a 99.8 dribble percentage. "I know we're not supposed to admit it, but yeah, by the end I was counting. 182, 183, 184, 185, 186 bounces. It felt good. Honestly, I was in such a zone that it felt like I was dribbling on a court twice as big." Durant also led both teams with 43 jumps and 1,227 steps taken.
H.S. Football, Basketball, Baseball... and Cheerleading?
The Virginia High School League recognizes cheerleading as a sport, offering district, regional and state competitions.
However, when school districts work to comply with Title IX, the federal legislation that mandates college and high school athletic programs offer equitable opportunity and treatment to both genders, cheerleaders do not count as athletes.
Chesapeake Schools Superintendent W. Randolph Nichols would like to change that.

Justice Dept.: Obama administration may take action on BCS
The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review.
In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch's request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws.
This is the guy that created terror in all our hearts. Scouts were disappointed with Terrence Cody's conditioning on the first day of practice at the Senior Bowl. The former Alabama defensive tackle tipped the scales at 370 pounds.
'05 Texas team was best Big 12 team of the decade
By Tim Griffin
The Big 12 had two national championship teams and five others that played in the BCS title game in the decade.
The two championship teams were the best of the conference's last 10 years. Some of the other BCS title participants were good, but not necessarily among the very best teams during the conference's recent history.
Here's how I rank the Big 12's top 10 teams over the last decade.

BCS Passes Over Texas, Picks 6-6 Florida State
In a shocking turn of events, John Swofford announced today that the Bowl Championship Series would not select undefeated Texas for the championship game, instead opting for Florida State. "After listening to the argument the Gator Bowl was making," Swofford said, "we decided that Bobby Bowden deserved a larger stage on which to play his final game. They were just a natural fit for the Championship game."
