Cougar baseball team ranked in Preseason Poll
Ranked #31 in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll, along with 7 other Pac-10 teams ranked.
Did ESPN forget WSU is in the Pac-10?
Went to ESPN tonight and saw a story about the Pac-10 was on the home page (amazing) and a picture with all the coaches in the Pac-10 on the home page also.......oh wait....scratch that, they have 9 of the 10 coaches pictured......guess who's missing?
Mr. Wulff is in a few pictures in the article, but thought it was funny he was cut out of the group photo.
Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville slams new Big 12
I think this might be the first bad (and honest) thing someone from a Big 12 school has said publicly and is pretty much what everyone has been saying all along.
Kind of ballsy for him to stand up like that. Sounds like Texas Tech might be looking for a new conference soon.
Utah gets invited to Pac-10
Utah's SB Nation Blog is reporting this also
It just goes on and on and on.......
Cougar women beat Oregon
I don't know if anyone saw or heard but our women's team pulled off a nice win against Oregon Friday night, 67-53, it was also the third biggest comeback in team history. Unlike the mens team the women's team, also pretty young, has shown some improvement during the season.
Remember this team suffered some injuries to key players who are missing the season and also only has one seldom used senior, they could be pretty good the next few years.
Bill Moos settlement with Oregon
Vince posted this in a comment to one of his articles on the Spokesman Review and gives a little insight into his settlement with Oregon. The article was written about a month ago when he was a finalist for the UNLV job and then had to back out due to this agreement. Sounds like with some good lawyers we could work around the agreement or at the very least just pay a settlement to Oregon.
On a side note after reading that article it sounds like to me Oregon is just trying to screw him from any AD job and seems to me that he would love a chance to get the WSU job and compete against Oregon.
WSU President Elson Floyd releases statement on Sterk
I guess it's official now and Anne McCoy will be the interim athletic director.
Cougar women get a win at ASU
They picked up their first Pac-10 win against a pretty good ASU team. Congrats to the young Cougar women's team, hopefully this is a sign of things to come.
GO COUGS!!!
Reply from Pac-10 on blown call against Oregon
EDIT NUSS: Promoted because it's obviously of interest. I'm honestly surprised the official explanation doesn't own up to the video and its own rule book -- that the ball is not live until a player is ready to inbound it and the official starts the five-second count, two things that clearly were not happening when the technical foul was called.
It sounds like they're trying to make the argument that Oregon not moving to the baseline to inbound the ball was caused, at least in part, by the chaos on the floor -- and therefore "interfered" with play. Seems like a pretty thin thread to hang your defense of your referees on, but it's at least plausible. And if we know anything about conferences' defenses of officials, if they can find any shred of a plausible defense, they're going to use it.
I still don't buy it, but I'll give them credit for responding to the e-mail.
I sent an e-mail to Larry Scott Thursday night and while I was not expecting a reply, I did. It was not from Scott, however, it was from Dave Hirsch. Basically the reply just stats the rule the officials were enforcing and says how players from WSU's bench (and a fan) was impeding Oregon from inbounding the ball.
Again, as with the officials explanation Thursday night, he is wrong as video evidence clearly shows no Oregon player attempting to inbound the ball and is in fact walking to his bench with the ball - the opposite direction from trying to throw the ball in. Anyways, thought some of you might like to read what the Pac-10 is saying so here is the reply in full, enjoy.
Jim Moore interview with UW President on the Gonzaga-UW series
I don't think many Gonzaga fans probably know about Jim Moore's website (he is a writer for the Seattle PI and a total WSU homer, he is great - most UW fans hate) and so many of you would probably never see this article. So I thought I would post this for you all to see since I am sure many will want to read it for Scott Woodward's latest comments regarding this series and Gonzaga. I think this is funny and Woodward comes off as a total a-hole and totally unprofessional for a athletic director. If you ask me, after reading this I really hope Gonzaga never plays UW again.
Cougs sign two JC OL
I think this was the area we needed the most help in, kudos to Wulff for getting two huge upgrades. Both players were being recruited by other BCS schools like Arizona, Oregon, Auburn and Tennessee among others.
GO COUGS!!!
WSU football tops Pac-10 All-Academic Team for second year
This was announced the same day at we played Gonzaga but I thought we could all use some good news about our football team. We tied with Stanford, not a bad school to be tied with, for most All-Academic selections with 18 this year. We might not have been good on the field this year, but at least we are smart.
Go Cougs!!!
WSU Volleyball beats #4 UW
Good win by our volleyball team as they continue their good season and are now 16-4 and 5-4 in the Pac-10, which is very good since the Pac-10 is by far the best conference in volleyball and the second best conference is not even close. Also, 2,724 fans showed up, the largest crowd to watch a game at Bohler Gym since 1997.
GO COUGS!!!
Cougs get another recruit
Marquess Wilson has given a verbal to the Cougars today. He is a 3 star recruit according to scout.com from Tulare, CA. There is no Bio on him, but he is 6'3 weighs 169 and runs a 4.67 40. Looks like this could be a good player, Arizona State offered him a scholarship and looks like Cal was after him also - its even better we got someone Erickson was after. There is no information on him from espn.com but here is a link to scout.com first and espn.com second.

Bennett touted this freshmen class before the season......so let more of them play!!!
Time to stop starting and playing Koprivica and Harmeling so much. They bring NOTHING, not a damn thing to the floor when they are out their. The opposing team knows neither of them are an offensive threat, therefore they back off them and focus on the other players - and Koprivica and Harmeling still cannot hit their shots even when they are wide open. Neither of them seem to play good defense and neither handle the ball well - how many times do we have to watch Nik throw the ball away this year? Let these freshmen you talked about so much before the season and talked about in the early season play. They are not going to learn sitting on the bench.....and they certainly couldnt play worse and bring any less to the floor then Koprivica and Harmeling have brought this year.
