Behind the Steel Curtain no real foot- balls

the nfl draft is not only the most overated yearly sports event,,,,

it is mostly an exersize in instituionally programed mediocrity.

the gms ,etc,,, draft to not loose their jobs,

,as opposed to drafting for impact.

i guess thats" alright",,,,,ho hum.

i won't deny ,the draft is the leagues plasma and has kept it healthy,

and breathing, and evolving

by predictable, and evenly distributed outcomes.

but , it s tools for genetic engineering, and cloning are lost

by fear of firing.

TRADE WAY UP FOR QUALITY, (MIKE DITKA STYLE)

OR WAY DOWN FOR QUANITY

.(special team coverage??? massive tryouts,

or just massive tradeable picks)

MOST OF THE TIME,,,,,

NOT ALWAYS OR NEVER.

we have 2 also ran #1 s in the d-line now in the last 3 years,,,,

wouldn't those picks been better used bundled for

a top choice corner?

i still love a running game ,,,,but the leauge use it only as a counter balance,

and our dls are not pass rushers.

say Aaron smith!

the whole league learned from us that you can find barry foster and bam morris,or the bus

without #1 pick,,,

,but just as the league learned it,,,,we forgot it and drafted mendy, cause he was there.

(i like him more than most of you do, and hope he never shuts up and marches as everyone else expects jocks to to do. but i wouldn't have used a 1 for him,,,,,,and he may be finished now).

we have 2 real #1s over the last decade,,,ben and troy,,,,

the rest are" servicable" and probably replaceable without a #1

woodley at 2 is a better 1,,,,,and ike was a find.

we needed , a ben,,,,and a troy,,,,and we sagatiously moved up to get them.

but we've needed a great corner,,,one we can afford at least till hed become a free agent and we find another,

and we lost key games over the last decade to special team coverage.

but,,,this is probably moot this year.

,i don't know if kalil, ot. socal,,,,or the corner from bama or lsu,,,are as good a fit

for us as poe or hightower, or glenn may be without a move.

id say poe,,,,,but 3 #1dls in 4 years,,,,, to stop an nfl run that becomes less and less visible each year?????

Behind the Steel Curtain fantasy's not a league,,its an o-line

i had a fantasy last season about a fantasy this season,,,,,,,a fantasy about the o-line being great..

MAX         KEMO the KICKER         POUCEY      WILLIE  THE SHORT    DA HOTEL

(foster, legursky,   draft 7                                                     draft 2))

it started with the fantasy that  3 or 4 diverse elements of our 0-line ,  were all    " power charging"   at separate rates,,, for several years,,,,,,     and  would hit a critical mass at the the same time,,,,,,,this year,,,,,, and explode into a dominance that would make  fans wonder,,,"where did that come from?"

max would be back, healthy,,,,,and the reason the   " never over pay steelers"    overpayed him,     was that they knew  he would  be slower to improve,,,but more  constantly improving,,,  for so many years  that he'd end up at least great draft pick if not all time player.

,i thought he'd reach good,,,, better than ok,,, this year,,,,,,,,and might continue for a decade.....

historically,,, some GREAT, o-linemen have their best years when other position players are already retired,,,,,jackie slater  ,anthony munoz.    ,mathews, and munchak,,,,,webster and dawson ,

max is tall enough to grow into  2018 season tackle weight,,,,

,,no team this year would have a bigger tackle tandem than he and the hotel together.    size may not matter but fantisizing makes it  so

.flozell the hotel's aging quickness , or lack of it,,,,didn't hurt him on the right side he moved to,,,,,,and he had a contract year left,,,,and" ring envy motivation"  to his ex dallas brethern......

........and carries enough     "UN"- stamina,, to give rookie gilbert some playin' time along with tutoring.

willie colon,,,,,the short,,, run blocking tackle  could become  willie the tall, run blocking right gaurd,,,,,

kemouatu  has reached peak pro technical agressiveness that  satiates his post grad  urge to kick opponents in the head.    every o-line needs that guy.

and legursky, foster, ( and now the nebraska draftee gaurd),,,,,who may raise doubts as starters,,,,,would raise praise as back-ups............

if the nfl adage that players make the most progress ,between their rookie and second year,,,,,,POUNCY,,,,(AND  our new  " money recievers" )  will be just plain scary good.

the schedule was set perfect for us with a late open date,,,,,,,,we could let ben and co. have fun,    run up air statitics,

even take the inevitable ,law of averages loss or 2,,,, to division teams,,,,,,(are we really 8-2 better than the ratbirds? or cleveland forever) before the open date  rest.

we're a little ahead at the shedule break ,, AND then,,,,we up the ante for the run to the finish,,,,,,and while every one we play thinks stop ben,,,,,,we start are new o-line run game  effort,,,,,,,,,,

just like in the 05 playoffs   when everyone lined up to stop the bus, and ben had them down 3 scores before they said "duh"

the -O- becomes huge,,,,,,you have to outscore us to beat us,,,,,who or what do you choose to try to stop,,,,,,,the only problem will be to keep our own from fightin' over who gets the ball,,,,,,,,,,

but ,,,i don't see max or ,,,the hotel,,,,,and short willy 's at tackle,,,,,,and who're the rest of those guys.???......

some fantasy,,

,,NEVERMIND.

DEEEE-FENSE.!!!  deeeefense.

 GO BEN, DON'T BREAK.

Behind the Steel Curtain heads we win, tails we win

we've beat the ravens 4 of  last  5,,,,,we're not 6/7 better than them without an anomaly game,(i.e. ben out, dixon starts etc.).  this is probably the best time for the inevitable loss......

we find out  a little about dixon,,,,,there were times in pre season that i thought it will be a shame that this guy will be behind ben most of his career  if he stays here,      he may never get the chance  show how good he   may   possibly be.    he's not much younger than ben.         because of WVU. ties ,  i was a big pat white fan, but when i finally got to see more of dixon,i grudgingly had to admit he was near as good or maybe better

for 2 yrs. our offence has been ben , period.. he needs some diversity,,,,we'll get to see if there's any hope.    mendy has his chance  to get over ray  for good, and  learn what it takes to  compete and produce at the extreeme level.   80 yrds would be a phenominal day, like 150 against another team another time.

the team will  be forced step up to find the  vaporous, indefineable  ""somethin'" that most  fans have think has been missing this yr.

the patriots got screwed by an 11-5 record last yr.(good) but i don't think an 11-5 record missed the playoffs more than a couple times  since 16 games even though the doom and gloom fans everywhere swear it will  when there's still 6 games to play.

we weren't the best team in the league last season,,,,,and were  not good enough now to be the best team for the whole season,,,,,, but we were and are good enough to be the best team for 5 to eight games.   ben may be the best at come back offence ,  but he's not goin' to win them all, its best he win the ones that count most, the next 5. tomlin timed this *(easy camp).   lebeau always sand bags his best for the end of games and end of season.

we'll either have mo-mentum from a step-up , youth contributed win, or mo-tivation for a  balls out, back  to the wall,  very doable 5 game sprint to a 11-5  playoff spot.    (that is if ben isn't playin drama queen today and is goin' to start or tomlin isn't throwin' the ravens false starts.

Behind the Steel Curtain HAPPY TO SEE MENDY DO NOTHIN'

I'D ' VE  ACCEPTED MENDY DOING NOTHING SATURDAY,,,,YOU KNOW THE KNEEJERK REASONS                                             id                                                                                                                                                                                                                         I'D STILL BE PATIENT AND  HAPPY TO WAIT FOR HIM TO MOVE UP FROM NOTHING. THE SAME REASONS

BUT  HE DIDN'T DO NOTHIN 'SATURDAY,,,, HE STUNK.      HE CHICKENED OUT OF PASS BLOCKING A COUPLE TIMES,   ALMOST TURNED HIS BACK.

HE SHOWED NO VISION ON THAT DELAYED DRAW,,,,,  THAT WAS A POSSIBLE SCORE.

HE SHOWED NO REAL ENTHUSIASM FOR THE BALL  ON A COUPLE DUMP PASSES THAT  HE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT IN SPACE.

HE DID HAVE TWO GOOD CUTS TO A HOLE, BUT BOTH WERE AS CLEANLY SHEID BLOCKED AS WE'VE HAD RECENTLY

HE GOT STOPPED A COUPLE TIME BY ONE MAN ONE LEG TACKLE, NEVER BROKE A TACKLE.

I'M AFFRAID THAT IN HIS SHORTER THAN USUAL FOOTBALL RESUME HE MAY HAVE NOT GOT  TO EVEN ACCEPT CONTACT, YET ALONE LIKE TO USE IT.    AND MAYBE RAY LEWIS SEALED THE DEAL LAST YEAR WITH THAT PERFECTLY PLACED GREETING.

BOUT A MONTH BACK I PULLED SOME OF HIS YOU TUBE HIGHLIGHTS AND LEFT THINKIN' YEAH  THIS GUY JUST MIGHT HAVE SOMETHIN SPECIAL I WASN'T POSITIVE, BUT IWAS PRETTY SURE,,, NOW , I'M AFFRAID I WAS FLAT OUT WRONG..........................BUT I'M POSITIVE STEFAN LOGAN IS SPECIAL
