So if you guys are like me then even the coldest beer couldnt get the sour taste out of my mouth that was this game. Before i touch on the negatives (and there were lots!) , I would like to mention some of the good things that I saw from this game.

Positives:

1) Bess was a beast and like the end of last season he was CP10's go-to-guy on 3rd downs.

2) Philip Merling was owning the right side of the line. He was constantly getting a strong push and creating penetration behind the line and more importantly he was exploding through blockers and making plays on the ball carrier.

3) Ricky can still run. He is still not the ricky of old but he can still find a hole and was running hard today and showing he can get open out of the backfield

4) Fields was booming punts and gave our D some room to work

5) Sean Smith can be and may already be that play maker we been missing in our secondary since the glory years of Madison and Surtain. He did get burnt in the opening series but thankfully Matty Ice (wish Peezy crushed him but oh well) missed White deep.

6) Our front seven played very well and if it wasnt for a few big yards in junk time they really stepped it up against Turner.

7) JT still got a little left in the tank.

8) Our secondary didnt really give up any big plays and the new tackling tandom of Bell and Wilson worked well (despite Gonzalez hitting the R1 button on Bell) and were not a liability in coverage

9) Ted Ginn looked like a real reciever in the first quarter and a half then him and his family must have went on a vacation

10) I did not break everything in the bar nor pick a fight with the JETS fans giggling like school girls next to me. Yes I live in Manhattan and yes I am trying to turn Exchange on 90 Fulton street into a phins bar. I am not a regular and because of that the phins always are on the biggest screen and have full volume!!!!

Now time for the negatives arggggg:

1) Who kidnapped Jake Long and replaced him with Mike Greenberg (idk the only pushover with any ties to the NFL i could think of) . Anyway after our second series in which he had Abraham down on the ground, Long then decided that he wanted to become the victim of an after hours jail story. I cant recall a worse performance by anyone LT we have had in recent memory nevermind a number one overall draft pick!!!!! He was terrible, he knows it, and we know it but Im hoping he learns from it and never lets this happen again. EVER!!!!

2) Anthony Fasano hold the damn bal!!!! You got open you made the tough catch but that is all meaningless if as soon as you are hit the ball becomes a homing missile into the defenders hands. He should carry a football with him at all times for the rest of the week and if someone is able to take it from him then Big Tony should crack him in the jaw.... I hope he already layed him and Long out on the plane

3) Pat White.....why? He looked horrible in preseason was terrible in practice and yet he gets snaps in the first game? Yeah opposition now have to game plan for him but thats not too hard when all you have to do is stop him from running and leave everyone wide open because there is no chance in hell the ball lands anywhere near the open man. Not only was his inaccuracy a huge problem but it felt like it changed the whole flow of our offense which might have been a good thing but at that point CP10 was playing well with what little time he was given.

4) Joey Porter? The game started at 1pm today eastern time....thanks for not showing up or being involved in any sort of pass rush

5) Will Allen looked old in the first half and seemed to be out of position to make a play on the ball. He played better in the second half.

6) Our return game looked like a joke. Did we even make it to the 20 yard line....ever???? I mean ok Ted Ginn is fast and i thank him for wanting to make something happen but if no one is going to block for you and you are 3 feet deep into the end zone take a knee!!!!

7) Ronnie looked hesitant when he got the ball.....partly because he had no where to run and probably because he felt that we needed him to make something happen. Well we did and guess what Ronnie you didnt do it!!!

8) I give up....this is making me too upset haha

Have a great night guys if thats possible after this no show and hey at least we did not lose anyone to injury.

If any Falcon's fans are reading this then best wishes and win the damn NFC so I wont feel soo bad when I think of this game next season. I just wish we came to play and at least made it a game.....oh well come on Peyton & Co.

3 Jay Feely K
4 Brandon Fields P

Hopefully this is much easier to read so based on what we have now this is what i feel we still need:

QB - someone that can go into camp and compete with Beck possibly a rookie or maybe a June 1 cut (McCown 3rd string)

WR - we need somone besides Ginn that can make plays and strech the field a true #1 would be ideal but lets not push our luck. I hear talk of Javon Walker?!?!?

TE - Good blocker with dependable hands as I mentioned before I like Eric Johnson if he is healhty

LT - PLEASE DRAFT JAKE LONG!!!!!! haha

RG - A solid starter maybe even a rookie

OL - we need depth and lots of it I like Jason Fabini as a backup

DL - some depth through the draft would be nice

IL - someone who can line up with Crowder and can tackle

S - very important position that gets overlooked we need someone who is smart and that can cover so basically the opposite of Jason Allen

CB - a true #1 would be a dream come true....im still hoping for DeAngalo Hall for our #33

So obvi we still have a long ways to go.....any suggetions or new rumors on who will fill any or all these positons?

Players I believe are still available and would love to sign at the right place:

Billy Volek - QB
Boss Bailey - OLB (4.35 40 and 48" vertical!!!)
Damien Woody - G
Mike Doss - S
Eric Johnson - TE
DJ Hackett - WR
Floyd "Pork Chop" Wamack - G/T
Randall Gay - CB

So the Jets traded Vilma for an undisclosed pick and gave up their 3rd and 5th rounders for Kris Jenkins and I believe I heard they gave him a new 5 year deal for $35 million with $20M gauranteed. Wow thats alot if you ask me...unless he can stay healthy and regain his form. Anyway cant wait for some more Phin news go get um TUNA!!!!!!!

comments?
