First of all, thank you for all the kind words and thoughts. It means a lot to me and I do appreciate it.

I didn’t drop off because of the moderator issue (my error, I should never have accepted the job). It was because of a fundamental philosophical difference with Saintsational Dave about the direction of CSC: Are we a tool of the Saints organization in order to gain access to them (interviews), or are we a Saints blog with freedom of expression (excepting profanity)? You can see my feelings about this here.

You may think this doesn’t matter or doesn’t apply to you, but you should think again. In the future, you could be admonished, reprimanded, or banned for your comments, or for putting up a fanpost such as “Shockey: The worst management decision of the Loomis-Payton era”.

Before you say “Oh that will never happen”, it has ALREADY happened to me (admonished), about Chip Vaughn, for example.

So what do I want? One meellion dollars. Not really. I don’t want anything. Well, I do want the Saints to win the Super Bowl. I love the Saints (thanks, asaint). This is currently the best site for Saints information. Although Dave likes to say it belongs to everyone, it really belongs to him. Just like the Nazi over at Arrowhead Pride said, the blogger runs the blog for SB Nation and he has the final say. But I’ll be around, posting here and there, no big whup. You can always contact me at stujo4@aol.com

Pierre Thomas a big Saints question mark

Pierre Thomas a big Saints question mark

Profootballweekly.com:
Sources called Thomas, who will handle the bulk of the rushing duties while Bush plays his hybrid RB-WR role, one of the team’s bigger question marks heading into the 2009 campaign. Thomas had a great finish to last season, but he has never been the primary back for a full year. There are serious doubts about whether Thomas can handle 20-25 carries in each of the 16 games, and we hear there’s a very good chance the Saints will add another veteran running back, who will be expected to share carries and help keep Thomas fresh, through free agency at some point before the season begins.

Pete Pisco might have a brain after all. If you scroll down to Saints and click Trends, you can see the last 10 evaluations, the lowest at 22nd. Meaningless but at least I'm not enraged.

Rotoworld.com:
According to Drew Rosenhaus' Twitter page, former Saints CB Mike McKenzie has been cleared medically after fracturing his kneecap last year.
Rosenhaus is wisely beginning to use Twitter, essentially for press releases. Usually he'd have to call a reporter for that! The Saints have expressed some interest in bringing McKenzie back, but now they are well stocked in the secondary.

Loomis says maybe to Edgerrin James

Loomis says maybe to Edgerrin James

"There’s been talk about Edgerrin James, and we’ve spent some time evaluating that prospect," Loomis said. "We’ll continue to do that. We haven’t made any decision or closed any doors on acquiring another running back if we feel that’s something we need to do. We do feel a lot better about what we have in-house than people do outside of our building."

If it wasn't somewhat serious, why would Loomis admit it?

Rotoworld.com:
Saints GM Mickey Loomis revealed Wednesday that the club has had "internal discussions" about signing free agent Edgerrin James. Discussions would be expected, so it's hard to say how serious this is. They also talked up drafting Beanie Wells, then passed. Edge wouldn't be guaranteed a big role and isn't a better short-yardage runner than Pierre Thomas. Loomis, clearly wearing his bad idea jeans, will revisit the talks after this weekend's minicamp.

Ealy and Kapanui released

No source given other than rotoworld.com:

Saints waived WR Biren Ealy.
This was an easy decision after Ealy was arrested Sunday for urinating in public and other charges. Ealy went undrafted in 2007 because he had off-field issues during his college career. He may not catch on anytime soon.

Saints waived TE Kolomona Kapanui.
Undrafted in 2008, Kapanui runs like a lineman at 6'5/255 and was buried on the depth chart. His weekend arrest only hastened his inevitable release.

Saints trivia question for May

I have an official NFL/Turner Licensing wall calendar of the Saints on my wall. I like the full color action photo that accompanies each month. There is also a monthly trivia question that I can usually answer correctly without much thought, but this one for May stumped me. Also, the action photo for May is of outstanding player Eric Johnson (the calendars are apparently printed ridiculously well in advance), who looks more doofy than Mark Campbell. I thought I'd share this with you all. Ok, so here it is:

Question: What Saints defensive back (on the 2008 roster) played for the Arena Football League's Iowa Barnstormers and the XFL's San Francisco Demons before making it in the NFL in the early 2000's??

This contest is not a competition, it is only an exhibition. Good luck!

Rotoworld.com:
The base salaries at the end of Jake Delhomme's five-year extension top out at $4.62 million, according to the NFLPA.
The deal wasn't just for cap relief. Carolina is betting that Delhomme will last until age 40. The 34-year-old hardly played at a high level last year, however, and it's near shocking they'd commit to him for so long. The Panthers have done next to nothing to upgrade their long-term QB situation.
