CelticsBlog why the 2nd seed is better than the 1st this year

if doc and the boys really wanted to have the 1st seed that bad (meaning there actually playing for something in march) one must assume they wouldve tooken those games easily being that the celtics lacked mostly effort,

if thr playoffs started today and orlando would take care of busniess against atlanta that means we would have to face them in the 2nd round ,i wonder if the celtics want the 2nd seed because lets face it we do match up against MIA waaay better being that the dwight stopper perkins is no longer a celtic and out west , also i think doc dosent want shaq to go against him being that even though we may win that series the wear and tear of going against dwight a possible 7 times may hinder him if say we go against LA in the finals and he'll have to deal with bynum

the easiest playoff road would be philly in the 1st round,MIA in the 2nd(becuase we'll still be fresh enough to deal with wade and lebron's rapid pace)

& chicago (who's pace is even slower than ours) chicago would probably beat orlando and trust if u tell doc theres a way so we wont have to see dwight in the plyaoffs again he'll take it heck he probbaly knows this

im suggesting doc and the team knows this as well

the only thing hear is we still have to make sure we have a better record than LA if we face them in the finals

la having a tough road(i dont even know if they can beat dallas without homecourt) and us having the easiest possible boost's our chances

hence why the 2nd seed is better than the 1st this year

side note

whoever wins the 2nd seed between dallas and la will win that 2-3 series in my opinion

& ny would be a hassle for MIA in the 1st as it seems there destined to face eachother

CelticsBlog bos/phx/cle trade

Boston Gets M.petrus & leon powe

phx gets:avery bradley,marquis daniels,1st rounder & future 2nd & cash

clevland gets:future 2nd & l.harangody

why for boston

we get a good defender & also stretch the floor in petrus & evn though's leon's injured he should be back around playoff time & like they say you can never have enough bigs ,we would all love to see leon back and win another ring with him as well ALSO ,since were giving up 3 players we'll have another roster spot open which leaves the door for a buyout player aka RIP CITY ! hamilton & if he dosent get bought it we;ll still be good with petrus

why for phx

the prospect & maybe future backup for dragic and a defenive minded player in bradley, the picks since there technically in rebulding mode & they save a few mill with the expiring contract of daniels

why for cleveland

the future pick & hardnosed rook in harngody & why else? to get back at the team they hate the most MIA

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=462hmkt

works salary wise but hey a shot at the dark ,sbnation reported that petrus is the likeliest to get moved from the suns so hey why not a cool idea

CelticsBlog only trade that wud make sence for the C'S

STEVE NASH

thats right i said it ,its known that we have trouble scoring (not much) when rondo's out cuz the ball dosent move as much and rondo runs the O to perfection

well.. that answer to that & the key to make us beyond a fav to win the title

MR.STEVE NASH

this is how danny gets it done

waive ,erden,wafer or harangody

i know how celtic nation hates wafer for some odd reason so i assume danny rids him 1st

& pick up a contract that we waived by the name of RASHEED WALLACE

along with *tear* nate robinson & a draft pick or 2 w/ cash

i;d HATE TO TRADE NATE but i mean this guy has eyes all over his head we wud be the hardest team to defend & he cud run the 2nd unit & we wudnt have to run rondo to the ground giving him 45 plus mins every night

thats rlly the only reasonw e make the deal ,to give rondo more rest and to keep up the offence as if no one ever came out

besides nate i dont see much body's we can offer as far as contract value cuz we need quisy as PP'S back up and avery makes only 1.3 mill & well we cant trade perk cuz gortat is there now & dey rlly wudnt need him

it works for phx cuz nate can be a great back up for dragic or even start if he earns it

that being said

pipe dreams only i have a hard time seeing this happening but in my opinion THIS IS THE ONLY TRADE THAT makes ANY SENCE

when this team is healthy we'll be very very good and once again be contenders for the title come may & hopefully june

thanxx for reading guys i only posted because i see ridiculous trades for guys we dont need when this team is rlly near perfect i mean were winning without 4 or 5 guys every night

PCE!

CelticsBlog IMO and from what ive heard the best possible offseason would go as followed

since ainge and the rest of the free world on lebron they said it themselves they been busy but everyones on"wait and see mode"

imo this is what should happen based on what ive herd

1.Trade sheeds contact for leonardo barbosa

2.s&t TA for rudy fernandez he's 6'6 he can play the 2 and the 3 and he scores better than TA

3.split the MLE between 2 bigs (shaq&miller anyone?)

4.sign a good part or 2 for the vet min(a.i. & rasual butler comes to mind

5.last but defenitly not least RE SIGN RAY ALLEN

ray allen not in green any more depresses me
thoughts?

ps
i hope we get barbosa &/or childress is were making this kinda move

CelticsBlog celtic lineup in the start of traning camp(gut feeling)thoughts plz

imma give 2 cuz one depends wether a big name FA power foard goes to new york or not

if amare or bosh goes to NY ,then i assume DA will s&t TA,give sheed's contract/a future pick & maybe another min guy like williams or scal but DA ill def try make this happen with all his power

PG.Rondo/Iverson/Bradley

SG.Ray/Morrow

SF.Paul/Butler/Wright

PF:KG/BBD/harangody

C:Lee/shaq/Perk till he comes back then he'll back up Lee

if neither go to NY then u can bet ya house there giving Lee a MAX so if he dosent i think the roster will look like this

PG:Rondo/Iverson/Bradley

SG:Ray/Morrow

SF:PP/beasley/Butler

PF:KG/BBD/Harangody

C:SHAQ/big body guy/perk till he comes back to probably start pending his injury

Pipe dreams but not too far fetched and very REALISTIC IMO

thoughts?

CelticsBlog is it possible?

to resign nate robinson? i kno we can resign TA or anything since we hold brid rights, but nate is key ,i think with those two athletic guards one a scorer and one a defender we can sign and trade those guys along with sheeds contract (depends if we can get somethin else for it) for a impact playerr

you think sixers wud trade us iggy since they have a new guy in turner ? its a long shot ut why not try ,

or work a S&T with memphis for rudy or with  the bucks for salmons ?

all in all i wanna know if we can resign nate to work a S&T

thoughts please

CelticsBlog out of these names who you think we can get

1. Al Harrington, 30, New York Knicks
17.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 1.5 APG, .435 FG%, .342 3P%, 19.9 EP40

After three seasons with the Warriors and Knicks, it's easy to forget that Harrington was a key role player on some very good teams in Indiana. Of this group, he's the most efficient scorer, because of his size and ability to get to the free-throw line.

3. Travis Outlaw, 25, Los Angeles Clippers
9.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 1.0 APG, .391 FG%, .381 3P%, 15.6 EP40

Outlaw missed a big chunk of last season with a foot injury, but as an isolation scorer off the bench, he averaged 13 points a game in his previous two seasons with the Blazers.

4. Will Bynum, 27, Detroit Pistons (restricted)
10.0 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 4.5 APG, .444 FG%, .218 3P%, 15.1 EP40

Bynum is the worst shooter and the best penetrator of this group. He also dishes out the most assists (6.8) per 40 minutes of anyone here.

5. Randy Foye, 26, Washington Wizards (restricted)
10.1 PPG, 1.9 RPG, 3.3 APG, .414 FG%, .346 3P%, 15.1 EP40

With Gilbert Arenas, John Wall and Kirk Hinrich (as of July 8) in Washington, there's no room for Foye, who should find a job as the first guard off the bench somewhere else.

6. Earl Boykins, 34, Washington Wizards
6.6 PPG, 1.1 RPG, 2.6 APG, .427 FG%, .317 3P%, 14.3 EP40

After a season in Europe, Boykins was one of 24 people to play for the Wizards last season. He's more of a scorer than a true point guard, but he had the best assist-turnover ratio (2.48) of this group.

7. Flip Murray, 30, Chicago Bulls
9.9 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 1.8 APG, .392 FG%, .312 3P%, 13.6 EP40

Of the guards on this list, Murray had the fewest assists per field-goal attempt. He took more than five times as many shots as he had assists.

Wildcard

Allen Iverson, 35, Philadelphia 76ers
13.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 4.0 APG, .430 FG%, .360 3P%, 15.1 EP40

Iverson probably should keep this season's stops in Memphis and Philadelphia off his resume. But if he can get back in shape and is willing to be a role player, he can be better than all of the above when it comes to providing a scoring punch off the bench.

Athletic wings

There are a few starting-quality players in this list, but they're here because they don't fit the "shooters" or "go-to guys" categories. None of them shoot particularly well from the outside, but most can be somewhat effective if they have a good point guard to get them the ball in the right place. It's the defensive end where most of these guys earn their money. And every team needs guys who are willing to work defensively.

1. Matt Barnes, 30, Orlando Magic
8.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 1.7 APG, .487 FG%, .319 3P%, 18.1 EP40

The Magic took off when Barnes became a starter in late December. In fact, he was part of the best starting lineup in the league, statistically, this season. Barnes has improved as a shooter, but his best asset is his versatility, and he's the best rebounder of this group. His reputation as a defender may have taken a hit with Paul Pierce's big numbers in the conference finals, but Barnes was battling a back injury at the time.

2. Rudy Gay, 23, Memphis Grizzlies (restricted)
19.6 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 1.9 APG, .466 FG%, .327 3P%, 17.9 EP40

With so many teams that have a ton of cap space and so few players worthy of a max contract, a third-tier player like Gay is sure to benefit. Statistically, Gay's best season was his second one, and he hasn't shown improvement in the two years since. He's the best scorer of this group, but isn't a reliable go-to guy at this point in his career. Gay also has all the tools to be a great defender, but the Grizzlies have been an awful defensive team in his four seasons.

Gay isn't the youngest free agent on the market, but his combination of youth and talent is unmatched. The potential is still there for him to improve on both ends of the floor, but the lack of development over the last few years is a concern.

 24, Miami Heat
7.1 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.3 APG, .463 FG%, .389 3P%, 16.9 EP40

Having played just 211 games over his six-year career and not turning 25 until December, Wright may be the hidden gem of this group. He's the best 3-point shooter on the list and has the length and athleticism to be a great defender.

5. Richard Jefferson, 30, San Antonio Spurs
12.3 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.0 APG, .467 FG%, .316 3P%, 15.8 EP40

Without a real point guard to get him the ball, Jefferson has not been a good fit in San Antonio. But he's set to make $15 million this season, so it's doubtful that he opts out before Thursday.

6. Rodney Carney, 26, Philadelphia 76ers
4.7 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 0.5 APG, .401 FG%, .304 3P%, 15.7 EP40

Carney is a freakish athlete and a pretty good defender, but he needs a more consistent jumper. He shot 35 percent from 3-point range for the Timberwolves a year ago. In order to be a real contributor, he needs to be even better than that.

7. Damien Wilkins, 30, Minnesota Timberwolves
5.6 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 1.7 APG, .433 FG%, .295 3P%, 15.3 EP40

On a per-40 basis, Wilkins puts up some respectable numbers (11.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.7 steals), but he can't shoot and it's probably better to fill a bench with specialists.

8. Josh Howard, 30, Washington Wizards
12.7 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 1.4 APG, .405 FG%, .267 3P%, 15.3 EP40

Howard has played just 87 games over the last two seasons, had awful shooting numbers this year and doesn't have the best attitude. But he's just two years removed from averaging 20 points and seven boards for a 50-win team.

9. Larry Hughes, 31, Charlotte Bobcats
9.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 3.0 APG, .355 FG%, .309 3P%, 14.9 EP40

Hughes actually averaged about 20 minutes a game after the Bobcats signed him late in the season. He's a decent playmaker (4.9 assists per 40 minutes -- most among this group) and can be a tough defender, but he's an awful shooter.

10. Wesley Matthews, 23, Utah Jazz (restricted)
9.4 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 1.5 APG, .483 FG%, .382 3P%, 14.7 EP40

An undrafted rookie who started 58 games (including the postseason), Matthews was a great find for the Jazz. It's hard to imagine them letting him go elsewhere. He's a solid shooter and willing defender.

11. Ronnie Brewer, 25, Memphis Grizzlies (restricted)
8.8 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.7 APG, .487 FG%, .258 3P%, 14.6 EP40

Brewer is a good defender and a solid player who can give a spot start at the wing when needed.

12. Shannon Brown, 24, Los Angeles Lakers
8.1 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 1.3 APG, .427 FG%, .328 3P%, 14.5 EP40

Brown is a freak athlete and a decent defender, but he needs to refine his offensive game. At just 24, he has the time to do that.

13. Ime Udoka, 32, Sacramento Kings
3.6 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 0.8 APG, .378 FG%, .286 3P%, 14.0 EP40

Udoka offers perimeter defense and not much else.

14. Jarvis Hayes, 28, New Jersey Nets
7.8 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 0.9 APG, .421 FG%, .355 3P%, 12.2 EP40

Hayes gives a terrific veteran presence, but he's a shooter (80 percent of his shots came from 16 feet or deeper) who doesn't shoot particularly well.

15. Antoine Wright, 26, Toronto Raptors
6.5 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 1.1 APG, .406 FG%, .335 3P%, 12.0 EP40

Wright is a solid wing defender and runs the floor well.

16. Keith Bogans, 30, San Antonio Spurs
4.4 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 1.2 APG, .403 FG%, .357 3P%, 11.0 EP40

or who can we trade for? nate & tony was on the list but i think if danny re signs em hes trading them in a S&T for maybe rudy or iggy or another impact wing player

how about good old TMAC? thats a gamblee there

CelticsBlog rajon rondo,tony allen,sheed(contract),and pick 19 for cp3???

ilove rondo but cp3 in green is probably a GREATTTT TRADEE FOR USS were unguardable since cp3 has a jumperr but i love rondo so if we choose to build around rajon i'd be happy as well we need someone tho (maybe shaq??? as a backup rebounderr or tyson chandlerr?) but if we can manage a trade for iggy if we lower the salories of paul and ray and KEEP rondo were right on the brinkk if not a tradee sign rudy gay (again if we can llower that 21.5 mill to around 9 to 11 mill and lower rays 20 to about 7-9 mill) an athletic wing cud be the key to 18 with an extraa big

CelticsBlog anyone can win BUT the lakerss

ive been reading alot of trade ideass and off season movess from all u guyss at CelticsBlog and they arent that bad at all , especially one i heard about trading baby and sheed's contract for d.west i think we'll need to give the hornets the 19. pick also but i'd do it ,but what if ray and paul took lesser salariess to help us out get a tyson or a rudyy??? but if ray went and we chose to pick up rudy instead ill be sad cuz ray is my favorite guy on the team personality wisee ,but what i do know is that the lakers WANT TO 3-PEAT and ive herd rumors about BOSH FOR BYNUM (vis sign and trade) who knowss maybe tmac sincee he's a good pick for the MLE hopefully we get him b4 they do , anywhoo we must get busy this season hopefully danny makes one more splash in the draft that can help us get 18

CelticsBlog bryant says he will likely sit out against celtics

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant told reporters Wednesday that he is doubtful for the Lakers' Thursday game against the Boston Celtics and expects to miss his fifth straight game, (sixth if you include the All-Star Game), because of a lack of strength and lingering pain in his left leg and ankle.

"Right now, it's a no," Bryant said. "If I wake up tomorrow and I feel drastically different then I'll play. But, I doubt it."

http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/news/story?id=4922186

ugh even IF we beat the lakers which is a big IF since pau, bynum and odom been playing some good ball, it still wouldnt prove anything at least mentally to us(maybe even doc and the team) maybe even them unless its a 25 plus  point blowout ,

CelticsBlog number 18 not so IMpossiblee

every team loses and have streches where they struggle a little bit , better then than now , 31 more gamess left in the season maybe a few dotted lines away from aquiring a YOUNG,ATHLETIC pg in nate robinson , its not like were not competing the last game vs orlando dwight just went on a rare TEAR and the last game vs LA(lakers) kobe hit a game winning shot ,he dosent make that we WIN, the great spurss team that were always compared to always turn on the SWITCH post all star break , not saying that we cant or CAN , but lets not mope just cuz of a bad JAN ,lets look foward to us having our team FULLY HEALTHY for the 1st fime this season ,we havent scrached the surface on our potential my opinion i cant see any team no matter how good they are beating us 4 times in a week come playoff time ,(god willing us being fully healthy) so lets stop moping lets get our celtic pridee on dust off the KG number 5 jerseys we got after we traded for him and get stoked for maybe the best starting lineup, the best bench in the nba(next to orlando) and kick back and watch some celtic basketball pceee
