Automotive Service Advisor and Professional Photographer. Born in New Rochelle, NY where my family was since 1694. Live in South Florida now. Shoot stock photography, events and the occasional travel assignment. Watch every Giants game at Boston's on the Beach in Delray Beach, Florida with a loyal bunch of Giants Fans. I watched the first half of SBXLII at the center of the Florida Patriots headquarters until halftime while the Pats were still on top and went to Sonny Columbos house to watch the second half. I couldn't imagine what it was like at Boston's during the Second half, but I was worried about having to revive some of the old guys at Sonny's due to the collective average age. How 'bout Tom Brady laughing about Plax's quote of "23-17 Giants", saying "We're only going to score 17 points? I think we'll have something to say about that.". Well, Tom, you only score 14 points 'cause we stomped you!!!! To quote Matt Damon's character from "Good Willl Hunting", " You like apples? How 'bout them apples?
My Family has been seasons ticket holders since Yankee Stadium and I stilll get up there for games sometimes. Hang with the BBWC and the Giants/Eagles couple during the tailgate. Maybe you'll see me up there sometime.

Down to the wire, no trade Mock
Well, the smoke has cleared from the Free Agency period but not the draft smokescreens and everybody has voiced their opinions ad nauseum. The "experts" have done their best to cause scalp lacerations from collective head scratching and the idiots, such as Baldinger, Dukes, Clayton, Wiley and Mosley have kept us mildly entertained. It's time to release my humble, uncomplicated, no-trade mock.
Crohn's? What Crohn's?
Just reported on NFL Network by Charlie Casserly, Rolando McClain does not have Crohn's Disease.
The NFL has been doing it's medical rechecks on players and it has been determined, through a battery of tests, that the Alabama LB does not suffer from the condition. His Mother, however, does and this probably contributed to the false diagnosis, probably from a lazy physician.
So, there you have it. One less reason the McClain haters(i.e. Spoon lovers) have to support their argument. Now only if we could get them to watch game film instead of YouTube clips, they might see the error of their ways.
Florida Pro Day in the rain
Well, I know alot of people are waiting on the Univerity of Florida to get a look at Wunderkind Tim Tebow's "new" throwing motion. I'm not one of them. However, there are a few players of interest that could have Giant implications.
ILB Brandon Spikes- Ran a 5.0 40.
If any player could have benefitted more from skippping any kind of combine like demonstration it would be this kid. With a very poor showing at the combine, demonstrating a lack of effort and not wowing anybody at ANYTHING, this takes him down a notch. He's a very talented player that just doesn't show it often enough. Talent is only so valuable in a game that requires mental toughness. Don't see any of that here.
CB Joe Haden- ran a high 4.3 low 4.4 40
He said he had a back strain at the combine. The numbers today would seem to support that. With his skillset obvious throughout his college career and his drill work at the combine, this is all it would take to solidify him as this years top corner prospect. This kid made alot of money today.
DE Carlos Dunlap- Ran a 4.62 40 and upped his bench by 1 to 22
His 40 time helped him a smidge.
FS Major Wright- no news on drills or times yet, but It's now commonly known that he is the cut up clown on this team and entertains everyone around him
WR Riley Cooper- No times yet, but a 6-3 220 lb receiver that runs a 4.5 and rated in the top ten of his position is something to consider. Supposedly looked studly catrching bullets from Tebow today.
TE Aaron Hernandez- the number 3 TE in the draft ran a 4.56 40 and benched 225 30 times. He definitely helped himself.
WR David Nelson- At 6-5 212 lbs, this kid requires watching. After running a 4.4-4.5 40, you don't want to look away. It has yet to be shown that he can produce, given the small body of work, although he looked good running routes and catching balls from Tebow.
Tebow: It would appear that Saint Tim wowed everybody with his throwing session. They said his motion isn't all that modified, but his release point is higher and the ball is coming out quicker. He didn't have any snap problems and his footwork was nearly flawless. All in all he hit all of his receivers in stride and made all the throws, long to short, and threw while in motion several times and hit his mark. He actually helped the stock of his receivers and tight end.
More to come as it comes out.
Rolando McClain Pro Day workout cut short. Reveals he has Crohn's
After running a 4.71 and 4.74 in the 40 at today's UA pro day, McClain was observed having a hard time catching his breath- as twittered by a correspondent for the Tuscaloosah News. It was later revealed that "Ro", as his classmates know him, has been suffering from Crohn's Disease since high school.
What effect this will have on his being able to perform at a high level in the NFL is unknown at this time, but David Garrard is also a Crohn's sufferer and has been effective at, arguably, the toughest position in the game.
What do you guys think?
My 3 round draft strategy as of 2/11/10
As you have seen, the Giants rarely enter into a bidding war on top flight talent. Therefore, you won't see them in the market for Peppers, even if his price came down a little. Osi, regardless of his recent outburst, is a bargain at $3M and will have a good year(contract and 2nd year back from a knee).
Kenny Philips will be back at whatever level possible. I don't believe it should be the typical recovery for a knee, since it wasn't ligament damage. After all he was playing on the injury with very little pain, but it was swelling up after games and causing him to miss practice. We can probaly get a very good SS in a later round and there are a couple of pretty good prospects in Vince Anderson and Sharef Rashad, who are on our practice squad.
This leaves us with what I believe we should do.
Rd. 1 If we're lucky enough, McClain will fall to us. If not, the next MLB is only a 2nd Rd. value. If we stay at #15, we get the best DT available. Price or Williams will be here, but until the combine, the rest of the field may develop.
If we trade out of #15 for more picks, we still have a shot at these guys and it opens us up to pick in other categories, such as MLB and Safety. Our first pick needs to be one of immediate impact, so RB and OL are out of the question and we have a pretty good stable at DE, WR & CB, regardless of what people believe. I know the coaches believe we've got the talent there.
Immediate impact, not halfway through the season(ala Nicks). This would bring DT, MLB & S to the surface. Of those, DT is the highest need, because we pretty much know what we have there.
I have no doubt that Canty will have a better year in 2010. How much better is another story. Cofield isa quality player, much better than he showed, and sometimes it's better to fly under the radar at DT.Alford was coming into his own before the injury. Bernard is just not even worth talking about. We DO know that we need the depth for rotation and a kid like Price or Williams would give us a solid middle.
MLB is a bit of a head scratcher. AP was having a good, almost bounce back, season before the injury, but we have seen his physical skills decline. He is still a wonderful defensive quarterback with mad recognition talent. That being said, we need his replacement on the roster, now. Is Goff the answer? Probably not, as he did nothing to distinguish himself last year. This need is pretty equal to the DT position.
Safety is a high risk/reward position. I think we nailed it with KP, but haven't had too much luck with some previous players. It's shown itself in the league time and time again. Roy Williams and Michael Huff come to mind.
Rd. 2 If McClain doesn't fall to us and we stick at #15 here is where we get our MLB or S. On the outside chance we're looking at OT here, there is an abundance of OT available in Rd. 1 and I see a possible 3 falling to us.
At MLB, Washington or Spikes will fit here. Spikes may not be all he was cracked up to be and Washington is a little small, but has the frame to add and is very aggressive and fast*.
At S, Chad Jones or Nate Allen(of course if Thomas is here it's a different story, but he won't be(even if I think he's a little small)) are very attractive here. Jones has good size and speed, but will require more coaching at the NFL level and Allen, I think is the best prospect after Berry at this position. KP is our FS, but I've heard Dave Merritt say several times that they are interchangeable, so having 2 FS's that can lay the wood would make our D-backfield a scary place to be going up for a pass.
At OT, which I don't think is a real need, there are 3 that could fall to us and, if available, would be hard to turn down by value alone. If Bulaga or USC's Brown fall to us here it's almost impossible to look away. If Williams is there, we have to decide if RT is enough of a need for us.
I believe we already have solid line depth, especially at RT. McKenzie actually had a good year as revealed in his stats. Guy Whimper is a perfectly serviceable RT back-up. Beatty is our next starting LT and did pretty well backing up McKenzie and Diehl or Booth can step in in a pinch. With Diehl, Seubert, Ohara, Snee, McKenzie, Beatty, Booth, Whimper, Koets and the new kid, Taylor, we'll be trimming before we're adding at this position.
If we were lucky enough to get McClain, then we should go DT here, because there are some great prospects to be had here. Odrick, Houston or, especially Cam Thomas are all worthy of a pick at our Rd. 2 spot.
Rd. 3 Now we've got 2 of our 3 main defensive need positions filled, we can either fill the 3rd need or look for depth at other postions, including OL..
At S, Stuckey, Jones & Florida's Major Wright are all good at this pick
At MLB. if Spikes is still on the board(highly unlikely) he would be a steal, but I think we've already got our guy at this point. Angerer, Chaney and Lee may be available in the 4th and I wouldn't take any of them before then.
at DT, if we don't have one and Cam Thomas falls to us, jump. If not, I love this kid, Geno Artkins' athleticism, but think he might get swallowed up at the next level if left at DT(He needs to add bulk which may slow him). I believe he is more of a tweener like Tuck. There's nobody else here that warrants a #3.
At OT, there's not a prospect I like in this round.
That's my current draft strategy for the first 3 rounds.
