Is it time for hockey yet?
I feel like a little kid sitting in the back of our family station wagon whining "are we there yet?" The off-season seems to drag on, and I become even more desperate for hockey news as we enter August - it's like the last leg of a road trip where the anxious feeling takes over. It’s so much worse in years like this when the Canes don’t make the playoffs.
How desperate am I for hockey? I was excited this morning when I saw an advertisement for Disney on Ice thinking “what? Is the ice down?”, but alas, no. The advertisement was for ticket sales. I also had a glimmer of excitement when reading the pre-season training camp calendar for September – finally, the season will be approaching and maybe, just maybe, they’ll talk about something other than NCAA infractions on the radio. I’m so desperate I listen to Adam Gold hoping hockey will come up. I’m so desperate I read Canadian news just to get some information about hockey. I’m so desperate I follow a bunch of hockey players on Twitter just hoping someone will talk about hockey. I’m so desperate I’ve started paying attention to soccer just to take off the edge!
What are you doing to get your hockey fix?
What's on the menu?
Maybe more than you bargained for.
As I was watching Outside the Lines this morning an enjoying my egg white omelet and coffee, I quickly lost my appetite when watching coverage of food violations at professional sport arenas nationwide. The good news is the RBC center wasn't in the very top percentile, but the bad news is they were in the second highest percentile. You can check it out on an interactive map. The take-away from the article - more tailgating.
