Now I know that most of the signings are behind us but i really want hear your top 3 players in each category because I know some of you like myself think that you got a bead on something so let's hear it. Top Colts - Jacob Tamme (TE and long snapper) better than Snow

Jamal Anderson - Good rotational player 3-4 DE and 4-3 DT

Peyton Manning - Sorry guys I would've paid and then traded perhaps the greatest QB of all time to stock picks for the future

Keep in mind that we are up against a tight cap

Non Colts - NT - Paul Soliai - young, perfect run stuffer we need - a lil pricey though.

CB Richard Marshall -loved his skills on out of college and played well in Carolina under Meeks

T - Jared Gaither - I told Polian to draft him during the supplemental but the line dropped

Alternatives - Demetrius Bell OT, Ronald Bartell CB and Jake Scott - OG or Chil Davis - OG

Serious look: Randy Moss, Aubrayo Franklin NT

This is what I feared! We would get new lackeys to replace old lackeys. Why would you hire someone that was just run offed by their previous employer and who's stats under the 3-4 were almost as bad our current stats. This sucks hard! This is why I wanted Marc Ross as the GM and someone running a good 4 -3 like Fewell as my HC. What a bummer!

Hey guys! It's been awhile since I last posted but the latest news of firing Ray Ryleschi really got me going. I think we are finally starting to get it. Finally an air of accountability has swept the organization forcing everyone to pull their own weight. For years we have been dismal on special teams and consistently weak against the run on defense. I'm hoping that the new front office and coaches put together a cohesive game plan to fix our deficiencies. Finally, I have a name that the Colts should really consider for their GM spot and it makes perfect sense. I love McKenzie but if we don't snag him, let's go get NFL's Networks own Mike Mayock! Hey, this guy eats and sleeps game film and can break down the pros and cons of any draft choice at any position. He is a former player, who is at the top of his game as an analyst and is very instinctive in his evaluations. Heck if Irsay is going to interview the combine chairman why not? Somebody, get this to Irsay by twitter before we hire another Baltimore castoff. Those guys are the front office equivalent to Belicheck' assistants...they work with a genius and flop once they are out on their own. Whatever!!!

In all fairness, I was in this group too particularly because of Charlie's unselfish sacrifice and utilitarian nature. I like others gasped when he was not resigned as a potential guard and Diem was picked back up. But for those of you who haven't gotten over the Polian's not making a stronger effort, please read the following description of events at a recent practice courtesy of rotoworld:

New Vikings LT Charlie Johnson was beaten like a drum by Jared Allen in his first practice with the team Thursday.

We don't usually do daily practice updates, but Johnson's beating was so severe that several Vikings beat writers were tweeting about the horrific effort on Thursday. He was going against the three-time All-Pro Allen, of course, but this has the potential to be one of the worst lines in football. Johnson is a natural guard -- not left tackle -- and LG Steve Hutchinson's play has bottomed out of late, particularly as a run blocker.

Addai signed a 3 yr contract for $14M with the Colts, this according to rotoworld contracts. Coincidentally this runs thru the remainder of Donald Brown's contract. I think Brown showed flashes last year and can develop into a consistent home run hitter despite the knocks. I like Addai back but wanted him for between $10 - $12M over  3 years. What do you think? Did the colts overpay or not? Let the debate begin people.

In light of our recent special team woes and Russ Pernell's recent success, the blame for our special teams fall squarely on Bill Polian. It is the stupid philosophy of management. We are way too top heavy at key positions in terms of salaries. Why is it e must have the highest paid player in the sport? I say let's pay PM well but spread the wealth so that we can afford some depth and be a formidable TEAM. As much as I hate to admit it, the truth is as plain as day. Bill Polian needs to redistribute the dollars and his attention to detail on special teams and defense. We need quality depth.

After a very disappointing 2010 campaign, a couple of things really stand out about this team and organization. First, we are finally beginning to see players lose their starting status due to poor performance. In years  past, players were in large part immune to demotion during the season under Dungy. We have seen this take place among the linebacking corps, offensive line and defensive line (tackle spot with Maola earlier in the year). For the most part, the players got the message and we saw better consistency and greater effort as the season wore on. 
I certainly agree that players need to be held accountable for their performance. My gripe is and has always been that the organization is not dynamic enough and they do not hold theri coaches accountable. Why did it take so long for the oline coaches to tell the players to peel off the double team and get to the 2nd level to open room for the running backs? DID you really think the running game magically  changed the last 3-4 weeks? No go back and look at the game film. The 1st 12 games our rb's were being stopped by free flowing lbs and lineman. This principle is a staple of run blocking at ANY level. Bottomline, the Polians and coaches do not provide any innovation or dynamics to help counter what other teams do to neutralize Manning's greatness. Think about this..why is it that the last two playoff losses have a direct connection to poor special teams play? Remember New Orleans anyone? Was anyone out there thinking don't kick to Cromartie besides myself? Why didn't Ray just instruct Pat to squib kick? NO INNOVATION...JUST PLAIN VANILLA  AND EXPECT MANNING TO BE ENOUGH!  More after the jump.

Just  a quick note, I noticed that some former Colts are on some AFC West rosters. Namely,  Dante Hughes, the former 3rd rd cb (bust) from Cal is listed on the Chargers roster and Lance Ball rb from Maryland has caught on with the Broncos. Also lb Jordan Senn from Portland State has hooked up with Meeks and Ed Johnson in Carolina.
Nice to know some of these guys have jobs elsewhere. Some I really wish would've caught on with the Colts. i.e. Ball.

Another roster move guys. Seems like the Colts just added udfa james Williams just recently released from the Bucs. The guy's measurables seem light given that he is around 290 lbs. Being that he is from Harvard, I assume he is smart. If anyone finds anything more on this guy or sees him in practice, please comment. BTW, why don't they just move Ricards over to OT if they want to bring i9n this guy? Atleast Richards has experience in the system and is a hard worker (besides he played OT at Buffalo). Okay, 1st off let me say that the video is posted by a Colts fan sitting in the bleachers with other Colt fans. Hence, as you may have guessed, you will hear fans speak over the video footage. Also, the motion and camera angles will be a little annoying as this is not a professional production. Maybe this is a rehash, but like many Colt fans I'm obsessing over the upcoming season during this lull. I'm wondering if anyone besides myself day dreams about missed draft picks that you WISHED the Colts had selected. For me, I was rooting for a cb or Brian Price in the 1st round. Since my favorite corner Kareem Jackson, was selected by Houston, that left me with Price. I love the idea of a penetrating 3 technique DT on the field with Freeney and Mathis. I think our scheme is a little too limited without one. The opposition knows where the pressure is coming from and if they can shore up the edges and do quick 3 step drops, we have real problems,  ala the Superbowl. Besides, BP once said that it is probably where you begin to build your defense. However, we have never had one and I don't see Maola as the answer albeit perhaps a good role player. Finally, I think if the brass challenged HOW they approach WHAT we do, I think this team could be unstoppable. In other words, if you want 3 pass rushers on the field at the same time, why not have a really good full time DT that pressures the passer instead of 3 DE's on the field occassionally? Don't get me wrong. I'm pulling for each draft pick to help the team but I'm just curious are they any other favorites out there besides Charles Brown? BTW, I would have really loved Javid Best in our trips formation as a home run threat with DB in the backfield....WOW! Of course there are others throughout the later rounds but I want to hear who you really wanted in the 1st round where we really had a chance to snag him. Can't wait til camp.

Thad Turner cb ohio ..aggressive corner..a bit of a thumper ...has a nasty streak. Needs to be coached up on making more plays on the ball but he will hit u and separate you from the ball..I like him..reminds me of Thomas out of USC in that way and his physicality is in line with Powers and Hayden....he could be a practice squad addition or a special teamer

Vuna Tuihalamaka, LB, Arizona good motor and great downhill thumper. Aggressive player with good speed, wraps up well and breaks down in space...another physical player with a bit of nastiness to him. I believe that was Toby Gerhart from Stanford he sent reeling. if so, how hot is that! He makes the team as a special teamer for now. Ramon Humber and Cody Glenn are on the bubble when he hits camp.

Very physical around the ball and seems to function well in zone coverage. I like his nose for the action. I would like to see him stick but I have to see our options at corner first. I think CB may be his best shot on this year's roster...but hey, throw them all in and let's see what comes out.

Does, anyone have the solution to playing the videos on Colts.com? Whenever I click on the link or pic, I get a blank screen where the video should be playing with a little green and white icon in the upper left corner.
