On saturday morning, my wife and I were getting our plan together.  We both had some things we had to get done before the game started, knowing that like every game day, you have to get there early to get a table.  We get to the bar about an hour and a half before game time and it's already getting full.  There are Husker flags and signs on the walls, and the seats are filling up with fans dressed in their husker shirts & hats.  You can tell game time has arrived by the Alan Parsons tunnel walk music playing, followed by the Nebraska fight song over the speakers.  The kickoff ensues and the game has started.  You may be asking "What's different about this sports bar?".  We are sitting in Nashville, TN, across the street from Vanderbilt University.  The Country Music Hall of Fame is about a mile away, famed Music Row is a couple of blocks away, and in this bar a gathering of Nebraska fans are cheering. 

The bar is The Frayed Knot.  Sporting a giant projection screen above the main bar, and flat panel TV's peppering the wall, all attention is on the Huskers.  Every Nebraska game is televised here, complete with sound, right in the middle of SEC country.  This bar is also a watch site for Michigan and Florida State, but they don't bring in near the crowd that the husker faithful bring.  The Nashville Huskers group is averaging over 100 people a game and growing.  It's always fun to watch the look that unsuspecting patrons have on their face when they walk in.  Those of us that enjoy these gameday events have Emily Fay to thank.  She organizes, sends out invitations, works out logistics with the bar and I'm sure she probably does a lot more that we don't even know about.  She came and talked to us the first time we were there and made us feel right at home.  Her blog, Every Day With Emily Fay is a great read, and tells how all of this came about. 

If you live in or around Nebraska, you probably don't understand the excitement of getting to watch the game with fellow fans.  I know there are a lot of watch sites all over the country, but I like our little taste of Lincoln that is on 21st ave south in Nashville, TN.  Stop by on game day and say hello.  I'll be the one in red cheering for the huskers.
