Media brushing similar incident to PSU under the rug?
I came across this article this morning when looking up the PSU sex scandal. It's interesting how many ways this mirrors PSU's own scandal. The accused at the Citadel was a camp counselor and former student who allegedly engaged in sexual acts with campers in his room in 2002. The president and administration at the Citadel were made aware of this, did an internal investigation, andd ultimately closed the investigation and failed to report it to police. The accused was also a tennis coach and a principal at a local high school in later life.
Temple Hate Week?
I know its "only" Temple, but I would like to report from enemy territory that their fan base is abuzz with the possibility of beating the Lions this weekend. A co-worker of mine, a Temple law student, turned me on to a temple football blog recently and I have checked it out from time to time. The two most recent articles are about the game this Saturday and they are an interesting window into the mind of the Temple fan on how they feel they might fare this coming weekend. You can check out the blog here.
For those of you who dont want to head over there, to summarize the Owl faithful have a startling suspicion that based on their coaching staff, their skill players and the fact that its in Philly, the stars have aligned for a Temple win. To quote:
I dont think Penn State can stop Bernard Pierce for Four Quarters. If Bernard Pierce plays Four Quarters Penn State is going down.
Now before you think I am posting this because I think they may be correct or I am worried about Temple, etc., you must be fully aware that I expect a win for Penn State and I think it may not be close. I only bring you this article cause I thought it would be interesting to share with the rest of you the confidence that the Temple fanbase is feeling this weekend. I am going to the game Saturday, and for those of you who will be there as well, this new found confidence should lead to an interesting gameday atmosphere and possibly a little fire under this "rivalry" for the fans.
Need the help of some Yinzers
I will be flying out to Pittsburgh this weekend for my girlfriend's cousin's wedding. I dont understand the fascination of women scheduling their weddings during college football season. While you may dismiss my disdain for football season weddings by claiming "it's only Indiana State," know that I also have a wedding to attend in Scranton next week during the Alabama game. Anyway, I am looking for a place close to my hotel (I'd like to stay close so I can watch as much as possible before I have to high tail it to the hotel to change and go to the church at 4) that would have the Penn State game on and be as penn state friendly (i.e. as devoid of Pitt fans) as possible.
Can any of you assist me? I am staying at the Westin on 10th and Penn (I think) by the consol energy center. Thanks for your help.
Colin Cowherd = Aaron Spelling?
For most of you that dislike him, this must ruin your day.
The Land Grant Trophy FINALLY gets the recognition it deserves
If only the trophy played "la cucaracha" like the horn on Homer's car
Where are all the students?
JUST KIDDING! But enjoy the HATE filled link. Though it clearly was made by a Michigan fan, it should still suffice to quench your thirst for HATE.

Wannstache at it again.
I am curious what a college football player must do to get a suspension these days. He apologized and thats at least a step in the right direction, but he threw a man through a window (a la Shawn Michael/Mary Jannetty circa 1992). Apparently Wannstache heard information disclosed to him off the record that he will not disclose but makes him feel better about the situation. Any ideas what that could be?
You think Pryor will be calling alot of these this year, since its in a coded language only Buckeyes can decipher?

Kirk Ferentz stands by HIS black players
If you click on the link in the link, Ferentz is quoted as saying "there are two sides to every story." Even a story where your star DE punched a guy?
Simulation Stimulation
EA Sports simulated the 2009 season and has our own Nittany Lions being blown out in the MNC game by Florida 45-14, led of course by Tim Tebow whom they predict will have 50 TDs in 2009 (39 Pass, 11 Rush). In other BCS games:
Fiesta: Oklahoma 37, Boise State 30
Orange: VATech 28, Georgia 21
Sugar: West VA 31, Oklahoma State 25
Rose: USC 24, Ohio State 10
The Hype Machine
I know it was touched on in inside-outside, but is ESPN's absurd hype for SEC media days so necessary? While at home on lunch today (looking for the Herd), i saw that they had Lane Kiffin's press conference on ESPN, ESPNews and ESPNU simultaneously. Seriously? three channels of Lane Kiffin saying he voted for Tebow?
Does anyone else think this type of coverage of the SEC is needed?
Penn State's "Traditionally" Weak Schedule
BSD - Bumped from the fanposts. swiggy04 defends Penn State against those who say we "traditionally" schedule weak teams.
Recently, we have heard more and more about Penn State and their absurd non-conference schedule this off-season. In fact, the criticism has been thrown around ad nauseum on other college football blogs, ESPN and even our own conference network’s website . Most Penn State fans will painfully admit that this season’s non-con schedule is weak and some, including myself, are borderline embarrassed. We have our explanations (not excuses) that we scheduled Syracuse well before they became awful, Alabama backed out, we tried to get a good team at the last minute, etc. However the fact remains the schedule is weak, and we admit and accept it for this season...
THIS season..
More and more, arguments are being made that Penn State has played a traditionally weak non-conference schedule. Mostly, the accusations are thrown in the comments section of various blogs around college football and ESPN. Pitt fans are happy to throw that statement out whenever Penn State’s potential in 2009 is brought up. But is it accurate?
