So says NBA commissioner David Stern, claiming he’s been assured at the "highest level" that there will be no sitdown among LeBron James(notes), Dwyane Wade(notes) and the other superstars who could hit the market on July 1.
And that was the players’ choice, not an order from him.
"They can have it," he said. "I was wondering whether they would get together, eight players and they’ll all look at D-Wade’s ring? (Zing!)
Lebron Called Rose After Elimination--Talks About Bulls
DANG. Did he call other people too? I hope he didn't, because this could mean that he's definetly coming.
"Shortly after Cleveland was eliminated by Boston in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, LeBron James placed a call to Bulls guard Derrick Rose.
What did they talk about?
Word is, James said he likes Rose's game, likes his team and would welcome the chance to play together."

"I’m not made of metal. I bleed."—Dwight Howard, when asked about his bloody nose early in the second half.
Derrick Rose Thinks He Can't Hit 3s
Rose on Lebron's 40 ft buzzer beater: "He’s one of the only ones who can do that," Rose said. "I can’t. I can’t even shoot a 3. I still haven’t hit a shot like that yet."
"I even got a call from my owner last night during the Chicago game. telling me, ‘Are you watching this? Do you see how hard they’re playing?"’ [Larry] Brown said of Jordan. "And it was obvious to me he was right."
If only they played that hard every game of the season..imagine.

Paxson Shoved Del Negro
"Chicago Bulls executive vice president John Paxson shoved coach Vinny Del Negro twice in the chest and had to be restrained in a postgame confrontation late last month, multiple sources told Yahoo! Sports.
After a loss to the Phoenix Suns on March 30, an irate Paxson walked into the coach’s office at the United Center and confronted Del Negro over a narrow breach of a management-imposed minutes limit on injured forward Joakim Noah(notes). Sources said Paxson first grabbed a hold of Del Negro’s tie and seemingly tried to provoke him with two successive jabs into his chest. Paxson was even heard to angrily challenge Del Negro to a fight.
There were several staff members present, sources said, and assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff stepped between Paxson and Del Negro and pulled Paxson away.
Sources said Del Negro did not retaliate, mostly out of fear the incident could be used to void his contract without pay or hurt future career opportunities elsewhere. The Bulls have dispatched lawyers to interview witnesses about the incident, sources said."
My favorite part: Challenging Del Negro to a fight.

Fans Vote On Who Will Be 8th Seed
Bulls 66%
Raptors 34%
It's certain that we won't make it now because the Bulls always do the opposite of what is expected.
Hedo Turkoglu May Miss Some Time
"Update: A CT scan on Turkoglu’s injured face revealed a small, non-displaced fracture, SLAM Online’s Holly MacKenzie reports. He is listed as day-to-day.
Recommendation: The news certainly could have been a lot worse (it’s nowhere near as severe as Chris Bosh’s(notes) recent facial injury), but Turkoglu may still miss some time. Consider him questionable for Friday’s game against the Hawks."
Update: Bogut will likely require surgery on his right arm and will miss the rest of the season, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. He suffered an array of injuries - dislocated elbow, sprained wrist and broken hand - in a cringe-inducing fall Saturday night against the Suns.
Recommendation: Despite the ugly nature of the injury, the initial reports left open a glimmer of hope that the Bucks may be able to get Bogut back for the playoffs. That door is now officially shut, and Bogut will spend the offseason rehabbing to get ready for 2010-2011.
"He threw a good pass. I was surprised. Jo was short when he was growing up so he learned how to dribble. Passing, I didn’t know he was like that."—G Derrick Rose, on finishing an alley-oop dunk off a pass from C Joakim Noah in the fourth quarter of Friday’s win at Washington.

Raps Vs Bulls Game Is Super Important. Der
"Chicago Bulls at Toronto Raptors, April 11: Look, whoever gets the eighth spot in the East is probably going to be swept by the Cavs in the first round. Chicago and Toronto are not particularly good teams, and they cannot rightfully be expected to win more than one or two token games against Cleveland. The Raptors are two games ahead of the Bulls, so this is a big one for that playoff spot.
But it still matters, particularly for 2010 free agency. The Raptors want to hold on to Chris Bosh(notes) by all means necessary, and that will be much easier if they make the playoffs this season. Likewise, the Bulls are looking to pick up a major free agent this summer, and while having Derrick Rose(notes) on the roster makes them relatively attractive anyway, they’ll look a lot better if they can say they’ve made the postseason two years in a row. Image is everything, people, even if you can’t win a playoff game."
Kirk Hopes to play Friday
"Update: Hinrich (ankle) hopes to play Friday night against the Wizards, ChicagoBreakingSports.com reports.
Recommendation: Hinrich sustained the injury in the first half of Tuesday’s loss to the Suns. He sat out the remainder of the game. The veteran guard was sporting a walking boot on Wednesday, but it was just for precautionary reasons. Check back before Friday’s tip, but so far the news surrounding Hinrich’s injury is encouraging."
Nets Reportedly Targeting Jeff Van Gundy
"Sources say the chances of landing top choice, Jeff Van Gundy, are improved with Thorn staying on the job. Van Gundy hadn’t planned to return to coaching next season, but the Nets believe he’ll be willing to listen to a pitch."
How about the Bulls target him, pretty please?

Hedo just wants to party?
"Turkoglu sat out Friday night's game against the Nuggets with a stomach virus. No big deal, people get sick. Except that after that game he missed, he hit the clubs in T.O. There were consequences and repercussions — a fine and a benching for Sunday's game with the Heat."
Gilbert Arenas Avoids Prison
Gets 30 days in a halfway house and 2 yrs probation.
I know he hasn't got anything to do with the Bulls but thought you guys might be interested anyways.
Craig Hodges Thinks Bynum's Better Than D12
" "He's the best center in the league," Hodges says about Bynum when the 7-footer contests a shot in the fourth quarter.
Hodges doesn't say the 22-year-old Bynum is going to be the best center in the league, he says he already is.
I rattle off Bynum's competition: Dwight Howard, Amar'e Stoudemire, Yao Ming, Chris Kaman. Hodges hears every name and continues to stare at me with the same blank expression, waiting for me to mention somebody he'd agree was better than No. 17 for the purple and gold."
"Hodges says Bynum's length and touch put him above Howard, who generally gets the nod at the best center in the game today. "
I smell Laker bias.
"I was just standing there with my dang arm up and he comes like he always does and I just don’t fall down. You get a flagrant for taking a hit, and that’s the joy of certain people against certain people. They were trying to be tough guys, and we get to see them again (on March 25 at the United Center)."—C Brad Miller, on being called for a flagrant foul against Dwyane Wade while pretty much standing still on Friday in Miami.

Dwight on Injuring D-Rose
I feel bad about what happened to my guy, D-Rose, in the Bulls game last night. We spent a lot of time together last summer going to China on that adidas trip, and I really think my guy is gonna be a star for a long time. But as it turned out, he got hurt in both games we played against the Bulls when we met at the rim.
As a big man, you never try to hurt anybody when they come down the lane. Me and Derrick are cool. I think he’s a great player and a great person. I never want to see him get hurt. But I always tell him, that if you come down the lane, always come off two feet. That way you’ll be on balance. You come off one all it takes is for somebody’s body to hit you and you’re going to fall.
It really upsets me when people say that I tried to hurt him. Like I told fans on twitter, why would I try to hurt one of my friends? That just doesn’t make any sense!
I hope he gets better and that there’s nothing seriously wrong with him. The last thing I would want to do is hurt anyone, especially one of my good friends.

The Rest of the Eastern Conference Season Seeds 5-9
The Rest of the Eastern Conference Season Seeds 5-9
Using the most pessimistic approach as a Bulls fan and the most optimistic approach as a fan of any of the other teams. PROBABLY not realistic (Not factoring in back to backs, injuries, road/home games) but this is the best (I think) any of the remaining teams can do.
Miami: Current record 34-32 (After hosting the Bulls on 3/12/10)
12 Wins over the rest of the regular season over: Philly, New York, Philly, New Jersey, Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, Indiana, Minnesota, Philly, Detroit
4 Losses to: Orlando, San Antonio, Charlotte, Toronto
Overall Miami record after the season’s last game: 46-36
Charlotte: Current record 33-31
14 wins over: LA Clippers, Indiana, Miami, Minnesota, Washington, Philly, Milwaukee, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, Detroit, New Jersey, Chicago, Miami
4 losses to: Orlando, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Toronto
Overall Charlotte record: 47-35
Toronto: Current Record 32-31
11 wins over: Golden State, New Jersey, Minnesota, Miami, Charlotte, LA Clippers, Philly, Golden State, Chicago, New York, Detroit
8 losses to: Portland, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Utah, Denver, Cleveland, Atlanta, Boston
Overall Toronto record: 43-39
Milwaukee: Current Record: 35-29 after win over Utah (3/12/10’s game),
8 Wins over: Indiana, LA Clippers, Sacramento, Philly, LA Clippers, Chicago, New Jersey, Philly
10 losses to: Denver, Atlanta, Miami, Memphis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Phoenix, Atlanta, Boston, Boston
Overall Milwaukee: 43-39
Finally,
Chicago: Current Record (After 3/12/10 loss in Miami) 31-34
6 Wins over: Philly, Houston, New Jersey, Detroit, Washington, New Jersey,
11 losses to: Memphis, Dallas, Cleveland, Miami, Phoenix, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Boston, Cleveland, Toronto, Charlotte
Overall Chicago: 37-45
Standings will be:
5. Overall Charlotte record: 47-35
6. Overall Miami record: 46-36
7/8. Overall Toronto record: 43-39-Overall Milwaukee: 43-39
9. Overall Chicago: 37-45
Again, this is being as pessimistic as possible as a Chicago fan. Do I hope we make the playoffs? Yes, I do. This was created so that hopes wouldn’t be crushed. It’s always better to prepare for the worst, yes? So tell me if you think this is plausible or not.
*disclaimer: I didn't use any stats in the creation of this, just went through the schedule.
EDIT: Hollinger power rankings say that Chicago has a 37.8% of making the playoffs & 0.5% of Lottery.
