The Perfect Storm - Black and Gold Edition?

No reason for me to write this other than to get it off my chest, sorry.

I can't help but like our chances this season. Call it the Perfect Storm:

1. Defense is still nasty, arguably nastier with the likes of Lawrence Timmons (LT, anyone?) at starter. D alone can carry us through games and the whole season.

2. Special teams are getting a boost with the return of Mr. Robo-Punter and potentially thrilling return men replacing Gary "Damn-the-Blockers-Straight-at-'em" Russel

3. Offensive firepower that will probably surpass last years', in the form of a couple nice options at receiver and our returning corps of running backs PLUS a healthy Parker and Mendenhall (not to mention some promising rooks).

On the surface, all this looks great for the Steelers, but I can't help wondering what could go wrong. I think the only thing that blows it for them right now is the worst opponent of any football team: injury. Seriously, with a roster like we've got, and a schedule like we've got, how can people not be thinking #1 seed?? That being said, if Troy or Aaron Smith or Deebo . . . or Sepulveda (he's got a bad knee!) or Ben or Santonio goes down . . . see where I'm going? I don't know that we have the depth to carry us over multiple injuries, and injuries are always looming.

If the injury bug doesn't bite us though, I think it's a lock that we're on the way to seventh heaven. The NFL won't know what hit 'em!

Hey guys and gals! I've been following the site since preseason and I've eaten up all the great articles and fanposts. Keep up the good work. I look forward to being a participant!

I have no doubt that Coach Tomlin used this in his pregame comments to the team before last week's classic, statement, rivalry win vs. the dreaded Ravens. I wanted to send it along to you guys for your inspiration down the stretch. Enjoy!

PS. "Steel Curtain II" anyone?
