Figgy was as fired up as I have ever seen him as his team, Escogido (Santo Domingo) falls to Gigantes (San Pedro de Macoris) 2-0. Nelson took 6 steps toward the ump in the 7th after walking a batter then was victimized by 2 consecutive errors by 1B men Kevin Barker. The pitching coach also went after the ump. Figgy also hit a batter attempting to sac bunt and repeatedly shook off his catcher. Over all he looked really good. Fern on the other hand since his 5-6 evening Friday has had (that I saw) a handful of weak singles a double that was nothing more than a fly ball to deep right and misplayed a decent drive to left for a double. I believe he also had a HR on Sunday night in the 9th to no avail and a nice 2B in the 9th tonight over the first base bag as well as a few soft ground outs. In fact it is hard to believe how softly some of his groundballs are and he actually looked better on his 2 swinging K's Sunday night. Sorry for the disjointed report but I was watching in between the fight Sat Night and the Jet game Sunday. For those interested this series continues over the next couple of days on ESPN Deportes and is followed by the Caribbean World Series 2 Feb - 7 Feb. Details stats ect on lidom.com. Just wondering if the FB/HR% for Met Pitchers decreasing 1.4% from 2008 - 2009 in ALL venues is potentially significant. I didn't see a way on Fangraphs to do home road splits and 1 years worth of data (especially a cool wet year) probably isn't conclusive of too much anyway but I was curious how much of that decrease was at home. Anybody know how to do these splits?
