Michael Beasley?
According to ESPN the Nets recently refused to trade Keyon Dooling for Michael Beasley. I know Beasley is a good player, but I didn't realize the Heat are that desperate to get rid of him. Beasley has struggled in his first couple years in the league, last year he averaged 14.8 ppg and 6.4 rpg while playing about 30 mins per game. He currently makes a little over 4.6 million per year while still on his rookie contract. Beasley is an undersized PF/SF who is pretty versatile, and still has a lot of potential. If Miami is willing to give him up for nothing then the Kings should make a few trade offers.
Donte seems excited about the idea!
With the 5th pick the Kings select...
Okay as we all saw, the kings were once again screwed out of a top 3 pick and landed the 5th pick. At first I was pissed, but after looking at it a little more it's not the worst thing. With the 5th pick we still might be able to draft Cousins and pay him less money. But this draft is a really deep draft, and I trust Petrie to make the right pick. Personally I want Cousins in a Kings uniform. A big man with his skill and size, and that has the ability to match up against all the other good bigs in the league is invaluable. Wes Johnson wouldn't be a bad pickup, but I don't want to stunt the growth of Donte or Omri. If Cousins is picked before the 5th pick then I really like Aminu. I've read a lot of mixed opinions on who the Kings should draft.
Who should replace Sam Amick?
Sam was the only good writer for the Sacbee, now that he's gone it leaves all the Kings articles to Jason Jones and Ailene Vision. I can't stand either one of those writers, I mean every now and then they come up with a decent article, but somebody good has to replace Amick. Sactownroalty is filled with guys who can write better articles than Jones or Vision. I like all of these writers, but I gotta go with High Tops (he's basically Doug Collins). I know it's a meaningless post, but whatever it's for fun.
Kings trade deadline moves
As we all know the Kings were just involved with a huge trade that brought us Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey, and Larry Hughes. And they also acquired Dominic Mcguire for basically nothing. Personally I love this trade, Landry will give us low post scoring and much needed toughness while Dorsey and Mcguire give us Defense and Rebounding. With Hughes expiring contract the Kings will have a ton of money to spend on free agency this summer. I love Kevin Martin and was really hoping to see it work between him and Tyreke, but in the end he had to go. Carl Landry is going to help us win games and is a nice piece for our future, not to mention he is a bargin and we can extend him for the same 3 million next year. I wish that we could have gotten a 1st round pick or somehow gotten Noccioni out of Sac, but whatever. I like all aspects of this trade for the Kings, the future looks really bright. What are your thoughts on the moves?
Morrow not in 3pt Shootout?!!
The contestants were announced earlier today and Morrow was not included. The participants are:
Jason Kapono (Toronto Raptors) 42% from 3 and 52 3pt made
Mike Bibby (Atlanta Hawks) 40% from 3 and 114 made
Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers) 40% from 3 and 120 made
Rashard Lewis (Orlando Magic) 41.9% from 3 and 137 made
Roger Mason (San Antonio) 45% from 3 and 103 made
Daequon Cook (Miami Heat) 41% from 3 and 105 made
Those players are good three point shooters, but Morrow is leading the league in 3pt percentage. Morrow stats are 50% from 3 and 42 made. I was really hoping to see him in this contest so the Warriors could be represented in some way. Kapono is a given because he won it last year, and I can't argue with Roger Mason jr. But Morrow could have taken any other spot.
