Bob Myers on Mr. T Show

A quality interview. Actual NBA scheme discussion as opposed to usual radio fluff. Hoops junkie's will appreciate it. A lot of discussion of how their are no good post bigs anymore, pick and roll, PnR defense and how it forces teams to go small.

Bob Myers on The Game

Bob Myers says they brought in players that won't be "Ok" with losing.

"I really like what they Warriors are doing. With Bogut and Barnes, they have 5 starters who can go for 25 points any given night. I'm not sure any other team in the NBA can really say that. Bogut should help their defense, along with Barnes development, who I think can be a very good defender. However on offense, they have more potential firepower than Run-TMC. I'm more excited about what this team can become than Run-TMC or We Believe"

Marc Spears on KNBR yesterday. He was co-hosting in place of Fitz. This is slightly paraphrased. What do you all think? My two cents- We probably shouldn't expect too much out of Barnes next year. I'm just hoping Steph takes the step to be a more dominating player. A step many thought he would, without Monta. Klay should continue progressing. I'm expecting Bogut to have perhaps his best year offensively with amount of shooters, spacing and unselfishness we have on this team. We might not be a top 15 defensive team, but we can easily be a top 3-5 offense. If we do that, I think it's a safe bet to say we make playoffs. I'd feel safer on that bet if we had someone like George Karl or Stan Van Gundy (guys who probably suit our roster). However I'm optimistic Jackson does well.

Lin opens up about leaving Knicks: 'Honestly, I preferred New York'

Lin clearing the air on 85% and what happened with free agency. (I know, I said lets stop the Jeremy Lin posts, but i figured the GSoM would like to see this. Plus someone else would pust it anyway)

Credit to Liberty Ballers for compiling it all in one post. Really well done.

I should be made a GSoM moderator just for finding this.

Draymond Green a 'coach's dream'

I'm confident he'll be a good player for us, even if not immediately

What will it take to get Dejuan blair?

What will it take to get Dejuan blair?

I get his rebounding has declined a little, but he's still better than anyone we have at 4. He's only owed 1 million and is a proven NBA rotation big. I can't see a better option unless we want to overpay Mahinmi who still isn't that much of an upgrade. More than anything, a guy from a good organization who understands role and plays aggressively can help this team.

Kevin Love getting tired of Minnesota

A situation to monitor for sure. If Minnesota doesn't make playoffs (and without Rubio, it'll be tough), we could see a Dwight Howard-esque situation brewing

Sam Amick on The Game 95.7

35

Amick says the Warriors and Kings have been in extensive talks about swapping picks. Kings seem to want someone who will be available beyond 5 (Henson or Leonard). Warriors might want to move up if MKG or Thomas Robinson falls. Robinson, MKG, Barnes and Beal all declined to work out for Sacramento. Petrie has a history of not picking players they can't work out

Draft Day Trade Story from Steve Kerr I was watching NBAtv draft special last night, and Kerr offered this story on how draft mistakes can happen unexpectedly. In 2009, they really liked Jrue Holiday. They were considering taking him at #13 if he fell. On draft day they were convinced they had a deal with GSW for Stephen Curry. They had a verbal agreement but nothing in writing (the Biedrins, Curry and BW for Amare trade). With that in mind, picking at #13 Kerr saw his roster with Nash, Dragic (who he liked) and Stephen Curry and thought 'we can't take Holiday' so they drafted Earl Clark, a guy he thought would be a valuable glue guy. As it turned out, Warriors changed there mind, and he lost the PG he wanted most after Steph. Sorry Phoenix Moral I took from it? You should always draft the best player. you can work out trades for roster fits later

Thunder not caring enough, or too much?

Good article looking at psychology of sport. Do we overvalue outward fire?

Trade Idea with Boston- Trade #7 and #30 for #21, #22, 2013 first rd pick and Avery Bradley. Logic? I'm really not convinced by any of the prospects in the later lottery. I think we could potentially find just as good of players at the early 20s. Fab Melo, Royce White, Moe Harkless, Arnett Moultrie, Meyers Leonard etc. Is anyone convinced either Jones, Barnes, Henson etc. will be better than these guys? To me they are all the same gamble. Avery Bradley is ideal combo guard off the bench. A VERY good defender and can play back up PG, in a ball movement offense.

All of the teams deserve the No. 1 pick -- EXCEPT the Golden State Warriors, whose abject and naked tanking should never be rewarded. The Warriors were capable of beating current 2012 Western Conference playoff teams regularly, but could not climb above a certain high water mark -- around the No. 10 or No. 9 rank. Even after the All-Star break they were within the Western mix, and in better position than the Jazz (who did make the playoffs). But instead of fighting they traded for injured players, sat their best players, and even goaltended last-second shots by the opposition to ensure losses. Their dishonorable, cowardly actions go against everything fairness, sport and competition stands for. All this tanking because they did not want to live up to the terms stipulated in a previous trade -- where an honest effort at winning by 'State would have meant another team got their pick this year. The Warriors did not give their team, their players or their fans a fair effort this past season. Their cheating should not be rewarded with lottery luck.

Who deserves the #1 pick? From our good friends at SLC Dunk. I'm personally very tired of this BS. Steph Curry was injured. Monta Ellis was not leading us anywhere with Steph out. We had no way of getting a center otherwise. I'm sorry long term logic is beyond the people of SLC Dunk.

Definitely sounds more mature and confident than a year ago. His jumper also looks smoother. Still awkward mechanics, but improved compared to what I remember freshman year. Think he's a better PF prospect than Sullinger/Henson. He might not score as much as Sullinger, but he can do a lot of other things including pass and defend 4s in the post and mid-range perimeter. He does a lot of little things which go unnoticed.

Draft stock of Baylor's Perry Jones III hinges on proving his consistency

23

Former long-time Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Rasheed Hazzard, who is working out Jones, said he reminds him of a more athletic Lamar Odom. "He was impressive with his athletic abilities," one GM said. "It's obvious he will have more success as a wing player than an inside player. He had a good workout." Said one assistant GM: "There is going to be a point in the first round where someone is going to say, 'I'm nervous about him, but he by far is the best talent.' "
