Dear NFL and Clark Hunt,

It is a snowy Saturday night here in Kansas City. As you well know, my TEAM is out of any type of contention. But I am a football fan and will probably watch almost any game on television. As it turns out, Dallas and Carolina are playing tonight. And I can't fucking watch it because it's on the NFL network. Yea - you fuckers can't get your shit together and can't stop being greedy enough to figure this shit out with Time Warner.

You greedy fucks.

I am a believer in your product. I love football - all kinds. But I buy your product way more than any other kind.

Season Ticket Holder. Check.
Merchandise for my family of five. Check.
Watch your network games with the lame over exposure of Petyon Manning. Check.

What do you want from me? Can I please watch the game?

p.s. Clark - I am done with Carl. I have defended him for a long time. I am also done with Herm. I just have to think about the game with Indy in the playoffs last year and the "arena league" scoring playoff comment.

I will renew my season tickets next year in "hope" but not based in any sort of reality. You must score points to win games, and I don't belive that Herm understands that nor will in the future. So maybe I am a sucker. Maybe you like me like credit card companies like people who don't pay off their balance - suckers.

Sign Help Needed.

Ok - we are going to the game on Sunday. We are not sitting in our regular seats, rather sitting where the cameras can get a hold of our big ugly mugs & the brilliant sign I am going to make. Problem is - I have slight creativity problems.

The game is being played on FOX for a change. CBS is just too difficult for anything clever but the X is killing me.

The message I want to get across: Farve will still be (please, please!) 0-5 against the Chiefs, and we will be the only team he never beat.

Also I want to get a shout-out to Jared Allen for being Jared Allen.

So, any suggestions:

Priest to suit up in Oakland.

Makes for good television.

Of course, I adored Priest in his day & feel like he can contribute something to this team. But it all remains to be seen.

The pre-game tomorrow will be all about this. And I imagine throughout the whole game, the following questions will be asked:

Will Priest make a difference/
Will Priest inspire L.J. to run with some anger.
Will Priest suffer an injury worse than the ones two years ago?

The Chiefs are in contention for the Super Bowl today!

The Chiefs have 18 returning starters & some kick-ass additions.

Plans for the day. Although most of the Chiefs games are during nap time for this family, we are having our own "tailgate party" today with hamburgers & hot dogs. We have another die-hard Chiefs family coming over for the good times.

Final Hard Knocks

Well I am not as psyched tonight to watch Hard Knocks. Why - well a number of reasons buy mainly b/c we have to watch parts of the St. Louis game.

The highlights or lowlights will be the cuts. Poor Ray Farmer. That has got to be a tough job. Too bad Sami Parker didn't darken that doorway.

I am absolutely floored at the negativity at the beginning of the Chiefs season. Two of my favorite fans have given me a 3-13 season. But that's not going to happen. Right?

Do we still have L.J.?
Do we still have T.G.?
Do we still have the number two quarterback rated passer in Damon Huard?
Do we still have Brian Waters?
Tony Dunn?
Boomer freaking Grigsby blocking for L.J.?
Casey Wigeman?
Our newest and brightest addition Damien McIntosh?

What about the Liberian Landmine - Tamba Hali? He makes people go "boom."
Derrick Johnson who is ready to eat the offenses?
Pollard & Page are finally starting - as well they should be.

Donnie Edwards was elected captain of the defense today! Mr. "I still whispered 'Home of the Chiefs'" to himself while he was wearing a Chargers uniform.
We get Jared Allen for the home opener!!

And we have the best punter in the NFL who will cause at least four turnovers this season.

So until 3:30 on Sunday, can we just believe?

Live Blogging Hard Knocks

Well here we are again - only two left.

The sad thing is that we have to relive the NO game and that's no fun. I mean that game was a DISASTER!

But I am always hopeful. You just never know what the hell is going to happen.

Of course, Don Banks of Sports Illustrated has ranked KC last in the AFC West. Thanks buddy.

Meanwhile, we are anxiously awaiting the start of the regular season. We have our fantasy draft party this weekend & then we wait for September 9th. It should be an interesting day.

My plan at this point is to take the kids swimming for three hours before the game. Wear them out! Then NAP time for at least the first half. By then, I will know whether to go outside & play with them or introduce them to mommy's obsession. My two oldest (5 & 3) have been to the preseason games.

All's I can say, is that in 12 days, all the predictions and speculation will be over & I will get to watch my beloved Chiefs play FOOTBALL!

I was thrilled with last week & it sounds as if that was the general consensus from KC fans.

An avid sports-radio listner, I was struck by the fact that 610 talked about the show for two hours with their afternoon dud (duo) Neil & Marty. Meanwhile, EVERY commercial break had an ad for the show. I called them up & talked about the show, mentioned AP & live blogging & then called them out for pimping a show while it was being advertised.

I am truly unimpressed with the status of talk radio in this town. I don't have very many comparisons, but the "meat" is really lacking. They are more interested in "gossip news" rather than really analyzing a sport, game, etc. . . .

In 2005, when Hurricane Rita was coming to Florida and the Chiefs had to fly out early & play the Adam Schechter weighs in.. Incensed because I had to travel out of town that night for work, I was absolutely aghast that all Neil & Marty had to talk about was "how freaky" the circumstances were. Yes - freaky. Now can we please talk about the game? I laid into them on the air & got about ten callers calling after me saying, "Yea, I agree with her."

So anyway . . . .Let's live blog the show.

Chills on a 100 degree day

On this very hot day in Kansas City, I just got the chills. Not because I am insulated at in an air-conditioned building in downtown Kansas City and not because I just poured myself a huge glass of ice cold water.

No my chills come from reading Joe Posnanski's story this morning about Donnie Edwards. Donnie was a fan favorite during his earlier tenure here in Kansas City and remains upon his return.

A money quote

"I'll tell you a secret," he says. "When I was with the Chargers, I would hear the national anthem, and it would come to the end -- "and the home of the ..." and I would whisper, `Chiefs.' I couldn't help myself. It's like it's inside me. After a while I stopped, of course.
"Now, I'm back. And I can shout it out loud. `And the home of the Chiefs!' I can't wait."

He talks about what he's after - championships.

He wants a championship now. Of course, that's what they all say they want. Heck, that's what Donnie Edwards said he wanted 10 years ago. But now he's at the age where he feels it.

This article runs tandem with an article about Tony G & his desire for a ring. Did you know TG has never won a playoff game?

Adam Teicher pens the TG article. Teicher is no Poznaski but gives some good quotes including TG's hope for this year & his optimism:

"This year I've been more optimistic than I have been in the past," Gonzalez said. "The window was closing last year, but now it's opening back up. We can go out and do some (good) things this year. Our offensive line, I believe, is better. Our defensive line is better. I believe our linebackers are better. Those young safeties are coming along, and they have the chance to be one of the best safety duos in the league. The receivers will be better once Dwayne Bowe gets going.
