Hey Y'all,

I intend this to be the first of a series of posts about the upcoming Dawg - Gator throwdown in Jacksonville. Some threads will be a serious discussion about the game, and some of it will be filled with satire and humor. Just to wet your appetite, there is soon to be a roast of Tim Tebow that will be ON YOU to provide the material- and I seriously hope yall join in on that one.

For the Tenn fans out there - satire and humor means - nevermind.

So - to begin this series, I just realized Georgia MUST beat florida. It's bigger than just the cocktail party. The nation is dependent on us. I think even Penn Wagers may overlook AJ Green smiling in this game. I looked at their schedule and it seems it is on the Dawgs to dethrone this team that was pronounced champion before the season even started. Sorry Gamecocks, I wish you the best, but I can't depend on you in a pinch. Florida's schedule is so weak I think EPSN may have created it just to sound like they knew what they were talking about when they declared them champs. After the Bulldogs, the alligators face Vandy and Florida International. I am still not 100% sure Florida Int is a school, but definately not a school I am sure has a football program. Hey, florida, after Charleston and Troy, you sure you couldnt pencil in Duke to round out your season?

I mean, really, do y'all remember now? Florida was pronounced SEC champs before the season even started by everyone with a microphone, a camera, a beat, or a blog. Well, maybe not this blog. Maybe they will win it all, but it seems the University of Georgia Red and Black Bulldogs circa 1785 and you wish you were us is the lone gunslinger left to show the nation that the bigger the Gator, the more meat to eat!

GO DAWGS!

West coast Defense to go with it. Any thoughts on what ASU is going to try next week? Can someone please phone CWM and tell him? Its, uh, like, totally obvious.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say they are going to throw the ball all over the place. The question is, will UGA have some sort of ball control to thwart the big play and a solid pass D?

So, my early, early, early thoughts are that 3 weeks in a row of this insanity can not happen or we will all die from heart attacks and UGA will win in a more normal football game by 14 points.

Things that get way annoying that I hope change: penalities. 1st and 10 bombs, repeat. turnovers. Poor kickoffs and coverage. Poor punt coverage and returns. not flipping the field. not controlling the ball and clock and field. and lastly, whatever on earth this Defense is doing in the zone.

I am already looking forward to next week!

As much as I hate to say it, I mean we all want a win with a sizable margin to help our ulcers, but I don't see it happening. Without getting into a full breakdown, what I see as a major problem - on O, D, ST, Coaches, penalties, players, trainers, et all, I would summarize this season as ball control failure.

So, rather than hope for a blow out, I am going to hope for ball control. If I see that, I will take that as strong evidence we can win more than most think this season, even if it is close. I want to see a dominating run game, lowered penalties (especially roughing and PFs), some nice time of possession, flipped fields, and no turnovers.

One of my grievances with Cox is he seems so determined to prove himself. I want to see him move his body and feet, head looking around, aware of the field, put the ball in the stadium as needed (not forcing = ball control), and understand that sometimes gaining 20 yards and a punt to flip the field isn’t a bad thing (flipping the field = ball control).

So, perhaps this Sat rather than complain about the play calling or Coach Martinez or fire “x” or Cox
“ain’t got it” (that was directed at myself) – let’s see if CMR got the team in order to play with determination and physical strength, yet style, class and poise. It may be close in the score, but I am going to be looking hard at turnovers, time of possession, the run game, and penalties. And it would be really nice to see 1st and 10s become 2nd and 5 or 6s.

We have the talent, the program, and, sincerely, our play calling is very hard to judge this year and last with such horrible execution, turnovers, and penalties (I understand these items fall to coaches, but that is not the play unto itself, but the discipline and playmaking coached to the players). I expect a win, probably by 10 points, but a 3 point win or a 20 point win wouldn’t surprise me either way. In conclusion, what I will take to heart is not the score, but the way we work the ball, the clock and the field: ball control.

Those that have been there all year know I don't see Stafford as a great leader, and morale and team work I see as severe weakness this season. That being said - let me quote the kind of leadership I saw as lacking this season from a returning player, and what I hope gets invigorated.

"One more year won't hurt me. I love college, and I'm glad to be here," Owens said. "I didn't have a senior year like I wanted. We lost to (Georgia) Tech, and I can't leave losing to Tech. I've got to get revenge on that."

- OWENS.

You know what - HELL YEA. That is what I am talking about. That is bleeding red and black. That get's me fired up.

Tech is so destroyed 2009.

UGA has Oklahoma State for the opener next year. That, plus ASU, we get a Pac 10 and Big 12 opponent. Although ASU is now seen as a nobody and that game failed to give us the push we were looking for, I don't remember ever playing a Pac 10 and Big 12 team in the regular season ever. That is very cool and good forward thinking.

Ok, let's talk about beating the heck out of tech!

T Kyle - stats I would be interested in

Would be average starting position breakdown for the last 6 games. Maybe the data won't be as bad as my gut thinks, but I am convinced we are not flipping the field due to about 10 reasons, but I think that stat will show why the defense is on its heels and the offense isn't scoring. It _feels_ like we are starting deep and our opponents aren't. It definitely happened that way against Kentucky.

Also, Red Zone Offense breakdown in the past 4-6 games.

And, number of Personal Fouls and Pass Interference compared/contrasted to the SEC and the nation. Offsides and what not are going to happen, but I am curious in the numbers of PFs and PIs, especially by comparison to other teams and % of our total penalties.

Another stat would be punting stats.

Finally, if there was a way to get how many 2nd and 10s/ 3rd and longs resulted from play action bombs, I would be very interested in that. That may require watching every single game. )

That should give you some stuff to number crunch!

I live in North Carolina, in ACC country, I get it - I may not get an SEC game in lieu of an SEC game. But according to the scedule - CBS is going to have NAVY vs Notre Damn rather than UGA - Auburn. WTH? I paid for gameplan to get the smaller non conference, Div II type games, but I am thinking the #10 team in the nation deserves a wider audience (and this is the 3rd time this year) than NAVY-NOTRE DAMN.

Somebody thow out "tradition and history" at me for Navy - ND - and I will come back with since _1892_ there has been UGA vs Auburn.

It would be nice to see this game in HD - RayCom on gameplan STINKS.
