Niners Nation Your call Niners Nation

Yesterday I posted something I thought would be fun, about how, or I should say, who on NN should be in positions on the Niners staff  :

http://www.ninersnation.com/2010/9/27/1716384/whole-new-regime-nn-style

It got some looks and comments and I noticed some things:

  • Some called for certain people for certain positions.
  • Some seconded those.
  • Some nominated themselves.
  • Some seconded those.

It kinda looked a bit political. So with that in mind I have an idea.

I can run a poll up each week 1 for each position: HC, DC, OC, PR, FO slots, even equip manager if you'd like. Something in the mid week range after we all get over the weekend game and the emotions. Something to remind us we are all fans of the same team and can get along regardless of the opinions flying around. Basically for fun.

Now I'm not the type that likes to talk politics and I keep those kinda things to myself. However this could be fun, we can vote for our own NN members (and I don't just mean frontpage people) to take over 4949 Centennial Blvd. next season(it would likely take all season to run these polls).

My proposal is:

  • Set a post on say Tuesday for a position.
  • Have people either nominate their candidate and why, or claim themselves as a candidate and say why.
  • Vote like we do for "caption this" via the rec option.
  • Highest four recs get to go to polls on Thursday.
  • During the poll you can again say why you like that candidate or even pimp yourself if you are in it to sway the voters.
  • Winner gets posted on Saturday.
  • If there are ties due to the recs we could slip in like a green party option and allow more than four.

I again want to say I'm not calling for heads for the team. This would just be some fun in the mid week for us to remember why we all come to this site and are fellow fans.

Now the Poll is to gauge your thoughts on this idea. Please? If you like it tell me your thoughts/ideas to make it work in the comments. If you don't like it.. well go ahead and tell me why also.

This poll again is to see if NN would like it. It's to late in the week to start it so that gives some time to refine the plan by next week.

Oh and Fooch approved this message.

Niners Nation Whole new regime NN style

Disclaimer: This in in jest and I admit I'm taking the Idea from Since79s Idea on if we need a new coach. But hey lets have some fun in a time when we could use some.

OK lets rebuild our Niners NN style.

HC: Since Mooch most likely won't come back. I say take the one that rymes: Fooch

He runs NN with an Iron Pick and can usually handle the timing problems with post going up, handles PR relations with the other teams blogs very well and can smooth over internal spats as well. As a bonus he has taken the BAR exam and has some legal cred. Could help on the new stadium there.

SPT/ OL CO: Ninjames

He has the insight of both OL and SPT he watches them closely. Is not afraid to put his power to use and put members in line. Has the ability to multitask (hence the dual roles). If the comm system goes down? Well we all know Andy Lee will take care of it. No?

DC/ International Liaison/PR: LondonNiner

Has the ability to talk anyone into a corner and make them feel good about it. Most notably he already lives across the pond. As for DC.. come on he's a Brit they "Protected their island whatever the cost may be" go WC.

OC: Florida Danny

I'm going with the stats here. FD will look at his play book and know instantly what to call. Down and distance personel, he'll know using stats what works. Defences will be confused the players will be confused (and me too) but just trust me it works.

Smiley and Tre need to be hired too but I can't quite place them yet and others. So NN I'm not CEO at this time and I would like to know how would you rebuild the Niners NN style?

It is a long read but well worth it. Very touching story about one of the Niner greats.

Strait form his mouth

Coug (SS Universe)

You are in Washington, so are you a Seahawks fan? Is it hard to be objective? Either way, Niners will get it done. Good luck and oy vey.

Mike Sando (1:38 PM)

Yeah, everyone who lives in a state must like the teams in that state. That is why so many Californians love the 49ers and the Raiders.

Look we busted Sando for being bias.

Niners Nation Rule Changes and how it effects you the fan

First off I know the OT rule has been discussed and that is not what I'm talking about here. I'm here to ask what you all think about the rule about the refs blowing a play dead if the ball carriers helmet comes off. I have to say I don't like it. After all this would not have been a 1st down had this rule been in place at the time.

Sports Videos, News, Blogs Go to around the 1:10 mark and I think you will all know what I am talking about. I understand the importance of safety and do not wish injuries on any player. I do, however think that they are starting to make the game a bit vanilla.  Join me after the jump and I will explain my thoughts and ask you my fellow fans for your thoughts as well.

Jason La Canfora, NFL Network
"They will continue to look for help on D, in the secondary in particular. The Lions and 49ers are both interested in PacMan Jones and both of their coaches are expected to be at his workout March 19."

I read this and got very sick. All I can say is no no no.

Niners Nation Overtime

Hello NN.  I don't post much but I do read a lot of what is posted on this site.  This is my first attempt at a real thought provoking post.

I just read on Mike Sando's blog where he and John Clayton debate an overtime rule change.  http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/15327/double-coverage-overtime-debate

That said I wanted to bring up the question of what do the fans think?

There are a few options and many reasons why this should be looked at.  My question is what do you think?  Does the coin flip really take away from the drama?  I agree with what Sando says that if they do change the rule it should be for all games not just the playoffs.  I do however disagree with the proposed change what I like to call the "Brett Favre Rule".

My thoughts are conflicted. I like the idea of the first team to score a touchdown wins regardless of which team gets first possession, that way the quick FG doesn't end it.  My other thought is I don't like OT anyways (Been on the edge of my seat to many times watching Niners games, much to the dismay of my doctor and my wife.)  I'm a believer in if you can't win in regulation than you don't deserve to win.  On the other hand if a team is down and makes the comeback to get to OT they then should get the shot at the win.

As you can see I'm twisted on this subject so I wanted to see what other fans thought.

Here is a poll and feel free to give your thoughts in the comments.

Niners Nation I got my cherry red

First off I would like to thank Ninjames for letting me know how to post this.

My wife asked me before Mondays game  "You are watching the game right?"  I looked at her like she was insane.  I said "Duh,  I'm about to put on my Willis jersey right now."  She said "Wait" and got under the xmas tree and said "You can open this one now. "

And lo and behold....

Photobucket

Now I know it is a replica and she put his full name on it... but come on this is cool, I wore it that night and the 9ers dominated.  Needless to say I am very happy.

My wife is a Chiefs fan (she followed Montana over and stuck) but nothing makes her happier than a 9ers win cuz it makes me happy.  She knows I'll die following the 9ers and has got me a few nice things over the years Steve Young and Jerry Rice autograghs and such.  But when I started dropping the Andy Lee jersey hint I thought no way.  Fooch may have helped on this one when he called Lee a god (my words to my wife was "he's a Bad a** punter") and not a SPT problem.

I hope to sport this at next years Seattle game as my brother lives there.

Go Niners

Tanos

Niners Nation Mike Singletary Drinking Game

I planned on posting this earlier (and should have to ease the pain) but Sundays loss and home life tied me up.  Forgive me if it seems immature.

The Mike Singletary Drinking Game.

While watching/reading his interviews.

1/2 shot every time he says "We're/I'm excited"

1 shot every time he says " Not going to go there"

2 shots every time he says "Working their/his tails/tail off"

I know its a short list but I am positive you will be well into bliss by the time your done.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Also do not try this in the morning or at work << a disclaimer

I approve of Coach so please don't take this as a knock against him.

I'm usually not big on birthdays myself but figured I'd post it if some of the NN alum would like to give a shout out for the Coach.

I know this will end up on the nuggets tommorow but I thought it would be nice to get it on early. Barrows says that next weeks OTAs are open to the media. Woot we'll have some news to talk about.
