Boyer Claimed by the DBacks
Good to see Blaine landed somewhere. With the current state of the DBacks' bullpen, he'll probably be a welcome addition.
Schuerholz Smoothing Things Over With Glavine
Looks like JS has reached out to Glavine to try to smooth things over with our former pitcher. Probably a good move. Though I agree that the brass made the right decision, I also agree with JS that it could have been done more tactfully. Good to see them acknowledge it.
Boyer DFA'd
Looks like Blaine Boyer is finally headed out of Atlanta. It was light on details, but MLBTR picked up on a comment from Dave O'Brien on his blog saying that Boyer has already cleaned out his locker and is headed out of town. I guess that's what happens when you give up 6 ER over 1.3 innings in three innings.
I always hate to see it work out like this for guys, but this move really needed to be made. I'm glad the team finally bit the loyalty bullet and did what it needed to do.
Marlins AAA Team
Hey guys, I'm a baseball fan in New Orleans, and as I'm sure yall know, our local AAA team, the Zephyrs, became a Marlins affiliate this year (thank goodness it's no longet a Mets farm team anymore!). I try go to to a few games every year, but since this is a new team and I can't say I've followed the Marlins much, I was wondering if there were any top-notch propspects down here on the farm that I should look out for?
Thanks for the tips! Go Zephs!
Harry Kalas Dies
The baseball world lost another legendary broadcaster today: Harry Kalas, longtime Phillies broadcaster, collapsed and died suddenly today as he was preparing for the Phils' game today against the Nats. Kalas was also the NFL Films voiceover guy.
I know it doesn't have much to do with the Braves, but I love listening to a good broadcaster. He called a couple games that I got to hear last year, and it was great. With Skip dying last year, and Pete retiring this year, and now this, there's not as many great ones as there used to be.
