2010 Roster Construction

EDIT:  I added the spreadsheet to googledocs.  If you want, you can now access it here, edit it how you would like to see each position filled, and then paste it in the comments below.  (Be...

When It Comes to Blackout Restrictions, MLB Doesn't Get It

This is stupid. It gets stupider when you read the fine print

Rumored 2003 Steroid List (UPDATED)

THE LIST ISN'T CONFIRMED, but if the names are correct, WOW. Lots of early 2000's Brewers. Mike Cameron is also on the list. EDIT: Craig Calcaterra of Circling the Bases is reporting this list is a fake.

Weeks Gone For Season

General manager Doug Melvin just gave us the very bad news that second baseman Rickie Weeks is out for the season with the wrist injury he suffered Sunday. Weeks has a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist that must be repaired surgically. The recovery time for that surgery is 4-6 months.

The Home Opener Thread

We’re only 2 days away from the Home Opener, and I imagine a good portion of us BCBers will be in attendance.  If you’re going to be at Opening day in Miller Park, tell us your plan in the...

Opening Day Lineups Announced

Tom Haudricourt has the lineups for the Giants and Brewers game tomorrow. Here's how the Brewers lineup looks: 2B Rickie Weeks RF Corey Hart LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder SS J.J. Hardy CF Mike Cameron 3B Bill Hall C Jason Kendall RHP Jeff Suppan

Braun's Back despite his Back and Hoffman's on the DL

Braun and the Brewers think it's important for him to play through pain during exhibition games. Hoffman was put on the DL retroactive to March 27th, making him available for the 2nd home game of the season.

Corey Hart Has Been Fired?

Tom H is reporting that, "Corey Hart has been on fired." I'm not sure why the team would do this, or why Tom would be so happy to report something like this... EDIT 3/2/09 7:13 pm Tom has fixed his error.

Schilling?

mlbtraderumors.com posted a link to Curt Schilling's list of team's he'd be willing to play for from a year ago. The story was with regards to the Cubs possibly going after him, But an interesting argument could have been made for the Brewers this offseason. I wonder if Schilling was in the back of Melvin's mind when he would talk about players becoming available later in the season. Schilling is still deciding if he wants to play this year, and I would expect him to be like Roger Clemens and wait until May to sign with a team.

Time to get serious

Yesterday in the Mug, KL noted that yesterday's game was essentially a must-win game.  While it wasn't technically a must-win game, it was a very important one.  Well, 11 walks and a slew of runs...

Gamel Hurt

Nobody has posted this yet, so I figured I would EDIT: It's a shoulder impingement, like Gwynn has. It's likely nothing severe, but it's not good either.

Yankees sign Pettitte

At least it looks like we'll be getting better than a 4th rounder for Sheets

Brewers Sign Trot Nixon

Is Trot Nixon one of Gabe Kapler's 1000 best friends?

Three Way Cameron Deal?

They say, "it's the most wonderful time of the year."  Why is that?  Is it because of all the stress, deadlines, shopping, snow covered streets, and heating bills?  Of course not.  This time of...

Brewers Bring Back Cam'

This is the second big move by the Crew since the end of the season. The (starting) outfield is complete. Now we start wondering who the ace will be and what the infield will look like.

Doug Melvin on ESPN Radio

Doug Melvin decided to call both local sports radio channels on Tuesday. It sounded pretty out of the blue, as neither host had mentioned that he will be on, and they had to cut interviews/callers short to talk to Doug. I felt Homer did a much more interesting interview on ESPN

Thank You Cubs Fans

So apparently we didn't need a new coaching scene inside the dugout to light a fire under the Brewers' collective asses.  All we needed were some stupid Cubs fans. When I saw Prince yelling...

A Furry Milwaukee

Playoff Rotation

I don't want to jump the gun, but if the Crew makes the playoffs, what rotation do we throw out there?  Once again, the Brewers will have to pick an odd man out.  Given the fact that Suppan is...
