Yea I am that late in writing this, as well as getting pictures up, we can't all be PaYD  ;-)

This is pretty much a follow up of what Frank wrote up a few weeks ago on the Mobile Apps. I am really only going to focus on one part of the App, and that's the in arena option.  Dateline, November 12th, my pregnant wife and I travel to Pittsburgh to see the Penguins of Pittsburgh take on the Lightning of Tampa Bay.  I am really excited for a few reasons. For one it's my first trip to the still shiny new CEC. This is also my first time seeing the Lightning in person, my first chance to see players like Stamkos, St. Louis and Lecavalier (who was out). It's my weekend to have my yearly sometimes bi annually Number 2 seller "Pittsburgh Cheese steak" It's also my first chance to use the “In Arena aspect” of the Pens Mobile App.  Let me tell you what my first impressions were:

We have one league set up on ESPN, I believe it has 7 PensBurghers currently, if anyone else would like to join please let me know as I would like to get the draft set up since we are coming up on the regular season.  Again, this is a great way to get into Fantasy hockey.  Also there are a ton of leagues out there to choose from here at PensBurgh. So choose wisely  :-)

UPDATE: We are sitting on 12 teams right now, if anyone is interested we still have 4 spots left.  Newbies welcome, that's really the point of this league, it's to wet your fantasy hockey beak, or cut your fantasy hockey teeth so to speak.  I plan on setting up the draft this weekend for a date next week.  At that point I will have to "Close" the league to new entries.

I've set up an ESPN fantasy hockey league for fellow PensBurgers.  If you want to join send me an email and I will shoot you an invite.  I'd like to get anywhere from 8-16 teams in the league doing a rotisserie set up.  For those who are possibly looking to get into fantasy hockey this may be a great way to start, it's usually less work through the year to manage a team and might be a little simpler when it comes to scoring as well.  For the newbies to fantasy I'll explain a bit after the jump.

It feels like summer break in High school, when you are going to spend the summer with your Grandparents hours away from your friends.

I am sure the talent (Frank, Hooks, Justin, et al) will be adding info in the coming months.  It was a great run and I've only been here a little over a year, even though I did read the blog for a couple of months before I actually joined, it was an awesome experience and even more now that I can Moderate you punks and punkettes. :-)

It was awesome meeting Frank and Hooks this year at the Devils game.  I hope we can do more Pensburgh gatherings at future games, be it Pittsburgh, NJ, Philly, Washington, etc.   

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here for adding an interesting dynamic while watching the games!

This list is just my opinion obviously, I put the console I have the game for as well, in no way am I stating console supremacy, just preference.   After the jump comes the list, I'd like to try and contribute a Top Ten List of hockey and Pop Culture/Lifestyle as an on going post here at Pensburgh (Frank D.  Willing).  What I am not trying to do is rank players or teams.  For example, some of my future posts I am thinking, Top Ten "reasons to watch hockey and not go out on a date", "Best Hockey Commericals"  or  "reasons to get your significant other (man or woman) interested in Hockey"  Enjoy! and don't be afraid to tell me that I suck!

Any fanciers of PensBurgh happen to be PS3 Owners who will be playing NHL 10?  Wondering if people want to put together an EASHL league team or even start a Pensburgh league depending on game style you are into? I played with about 3-4 co workers on a team for NHL09 and had some really fun games...and a few controllers thrown.

Let me know if any  of you peeps have been playing today.  I am hoping to pick up NHL 10 after work today.

It's been something I've been thinking about,  what are some things the NFL does that the NHL should do?

Obviously the reason I look at the NFL, because as a whole the league seems to be unstoppable with Marketing (usually very good marketing) as well as TV deals and drawling interest.

Over the last 4 seasons or so the NFL has started the season with the reigning Super Bowl Champs playing a Thursday night at home, almost an offering of congratulations on a season well done.

The NHL should start it's season on National TV (Sorry Versus) with a stand alone game of the Stanley Cup Champ opening up at home, raising the banner against a division rival.  Have the cup in the house, an nice ceremony, raise the Stanley Cup Champions banner and drop the puck on the new NHL season.

Agree? Disagree?
