And I apologize if this was discussed here.

But couldn't the Bears had made just a good of an offer? 2 scrubs and a 3rd and 5th rounder. Hell, I don 't care if that means the Bears would only be left with a 2nd and 4th and such next year. We won't get that kind of talent in those spots.

And I don't care if he has an attitude problem and I don't care if he drops passes. He is far more talented than any (and I mean ANY) wide receiver on the Bears' roster.

Dammit!

I didn't see this covered already so apologies if it was. But it looks like the Vikings defensive line will be at full strength as the Cheating WIlliams got a favorable federal court appeal in their favor.

While I still like the Bears chances this year, I was hoping that a couple of teams could hang a loss or two on them early to help us in the standing. That being said, I don't think they were losing to Cleveland regardless.

Sorry if this has been covered but Hester will no longer return kicks

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/12035856

Color me pissed off. Hester was the best return man in football, and possibly one of the greatest ever. He changed the game with his abilities. And while a punt return td is rough on the opposition, (IMO) mentally the kick return is a back breaker.

You see, (again, just the way i see it) the other team works hard on a drive in order to score. It takes a lot in this league. After the score you feel good and your status has changed in the game. Then you kickoff and just like that you are right back where you started. I find it demoralizing. The punt is different, your offense just failed and were giving it back to the other team regardless.

Lastly, teams can force a fair catch or kick out of bounds. While this may give the Bear slightly bette field position, it doesn't compare to the kickoff where you can't do that. But then again, that's just me.

Forgive me if this was posted earlier today, but I wanted to make sure we all took a moment to remember one of the greatest Cub games in any (living) Cub fan's life.

It's fondly just remembered as "The Ryne Sandberg Game" for his unbelievable late inning heroics. No one here should need to have this game explained and if you do, shame, shame on you.

So thank you Ryne Sandberg, thank you Bruce Sutter, thank you Chicago Cubs for giving me one of my favorite Cub memories. Although I was just a wee lad, I certainly remember watching this game as it was (and is) my father's birthday and we sat on the couch together and watched the game.

Jason Peters to Philly for their #1 and #4 this year and a 6th next year.

Wow! A 1st and a 4th for a tackle. Not saying it's too much but that is a hefty price. (albeit for a very important position)

The Eagles have two first-round draft picks and would surrender the second, or 28th overall, in the deal for Peters. Initially, one source close to the Eagles said, Buffalo considered making the trade for a first- and third-rounder this year but, in the end, held out for three draft picks to give the Bills more flexibility.

Peters, who has two years left on his contract with Buffalo, had been seeking a long-term deal with the Bills that would average $11.5 million to $12 million a year, sources said. The Bills had been in talks with him since he returned last September from a holdout but had made such little progress that the club recently resolved to consider dealing him.

Sources said the club never had serious offers until late Thursday, when the Eagles approached them about making a deal.

Damn that Super Bowl. With out it, it's not even a question. Lovie Smith would have been fired today.

How in HELL can you pull that act and not get canned? You have one game to win to make the playoffs (or at least stay alive) and you blow it against a team with nothing to play for.

He couldn't motivate his defense for one freaking game. ONE GAME.

Yes the Texans were a decent team but they had nothing to play for. The Bears did and they layed a big fat egg. Chalk up another 10 point blown lead to Lovie's defense.

And I won't hear of any Mike Babich excuses. Lovie is the coach of the team and the defense needs to be run by him. After all, he's the defensive guru, right? F you Lovie. Go away.

ps. i've been out of the country on vacation so I'm sorry I couldn't be with you all for the highs of the Packer game and the lows of yesterday's Turd in the Punch Bowl.

and pps i'm sorry if people have already talked about this but this is my first chance to vent. I had to get off a plane to find out that the Bears elimnated themselves from contention. Hell, if they won and so did everyone else, I could live with that.

But i just saw an interview with Sveum where he blamed the wind for the loss.

Can I get your thoughts on that? Is that something you guys are going to get behind? Cause the Cubs were able to muscle a couple over the wall today.

I am doing this post only as a barometer. This post really isn't here to start a fight. I would like your honest opinion of your manager's take on the game.

I have been saying to anyone that will listen that the Bears will be better than expected and will compete for a playoff spot. I told everyone 9 - 7. I think tonight's game goes a long way to charge up this team and with a last place schedule, I like our chances.
