Statistics RFI ...
for you statistics experts. What other team scored a TD the first play from the line of scrimmage and also scored a TD on the last play from the line of scrimmage? Further, when that happened was the receiver on both passes the same? And finally, were those passes the only two passes that receiver caught on that day? I would have to guess that Mike Wallace is in a category all by himself on that one. Salute to him for that dubious disctinction.

Who gave up ...
now? Every one of you weenies who trashed the Steelers and their will to play and win are now proved to be the utmost idiots to ever assess spirit. While there is obviously stuff that needs work, like being patient on an onside kick that is a mere yard from being successful, this team played its heart out. There needs to be a flood of "forgive me Steelers" post clogging up the Internet [bless Al Gore].

Ticket needing ...
a Black and Gold fanny for a three-hour romp in the Midwestern fresh air. I have one ticket left for the Pittsburgh v. Kansas City game, 22 Nov 09. My goal is simply to put a Black and Gold fanny in a red seat located at Section 110, Row 12, Seat 24 so I'm only asking the $80.00 face value plus postage/FEDEX/whatever. Let me know at tenthmtnman@kc.rr.com.

Running Back Situation
Stumbled across the article below on Fanhouse which addresses a potential running back situation at Heinz. We are actually at a good place to do further on the field research in this regard. I don't see a need to rush Fast Willie back into action against the Browns. We could actually let him recover one more week and get another good look at RM's performance ... is it such that will continue to stand the test of time. Forced to choose, I'm saying continue to go with RM and MM.

Steelers v KC Tix
Apologize for putting this in FanPosts, but I couldn't get it to work via FanShots.
Three tix for Steelers v KC at my cost - $95 [seat value $95, face value of tix is $76 season tix holder price]. Section 110, Row 12, Seats 24-26. Tix will go to first received combination of requests that = 3 tix. Will fedex upon receipt/clearance of $$$. Send contact info and number tix desired to tenthmtnman@kc.rr.com.
I have my tix and grabbed these to try and help turn The New Arrowhead into Steelers Country.

And so the ...
craziness begins. I was met this morning by the cleaning crew, all Chiefs fans who know of my love for all things Black and Gold. Apparently, I was supposed to be awestruck by the fact that BF was now a Viking. I was also supposed to be fearing the Steelers v Vikings matchup. Chicken Little is not a member of my family tree and I have a firm grasp of "I shall fear no evil." Lest there be any doubt ... that matchup would have been a tough game; it has just now gotten easier. We've beaten him before and he holds no magic powers over the Steelers. His skills have eroded and even on his best days his judgement and execution falters under the kind of pressure the Steel-D will bring to bear.

Coach Tomlin says ...
the Ravens will win the division in 2009. We know how accurate he is as Coach Tomlin predicted the Browns to do so in 2008 -- :o). That said, what does that mean for the team? In my mind, once you annoint the Ravens over one's own team, it means that one has assessed the team and decided there are shortcomings that will prevent the team from winning the division. As a follow on to that, it also means that the shortcomings can't be corrected between now and the season. How can that be?

This is the greatest ...
thing about the Super Bowl victory. Both the Steelers' official website and CNN SI's Steelers' website post the final game's score and it spends the off season on the front page. It was extremely disheartening to see the Jax 31 Steelers 29 score for the entire 2008 off season. Blissfully, one can re-visit the 2008-2009 glory as both sites now show Steelers 27 Cardinals 23. It makes it a lot more appealing to check in each day.

Mindless ...
dribble bashing Bruce Arians is not becoming and certainly doesn't indicate "level-headed thinking" or "thoughtful discussion."
13-4. 13-4 with a patchwork offensive line. 13-4 with a patchwork offensive line and stand-in running backs with a different style than the primary. 13-4 with a patchwork offensive line, stand-in running backs with a different style than the primary, and a QB that has not always been on his best game and often injured. 13-4 with a patchwork offensive line, stand-in running backs with a different style than the primary, a QB that has not always been on his best game and often injured, and young WRs who have not always been on their "B" game.
I don't see him getting fired [although in the NFL anything is possible] and I certainly don't think any of what I published above puts him on the fast track to Canton, but I do think it indicates he deserves our respect and certainly should protect him from us prejudging him as a roadblock to Super Bowl nirvana.

Sad Day in the NFL ...
Saw online; this is a sad day for the NFL. I don't know that anyone can find something derogatory to say about this Gentleman. Wish nothing but the best for TD and his family.
The Colts have called a 5 p.m. press conference this afternoon to discuss the future of head coach Tony Dungy. Word has reportedly leaked out of Indianapolis that Dungy will indeed retire. From FoxSports.com:
Dungy is walking around the team's complex saying goodbye to players and team employees and informing them that the transition should be a smooth one for new coach Jim Caldwell.
According to one source, Dungy explained that he has talked it over with his family and they believed this was the proper time to step down, while the Colts' nucleus was still intact.
