Testudo Times Bottom 10

WTF, we are in it this week? I checked it was published today-- so this idiot didn't even take the Miami game into consideration? Nice reporting job imo. Although that VA loss was bad... What are your thoughts?

On a side note GT is right below us bc of the game Tuesday night against Clemson, so he did factor in Tuesday games.

Testudo Times Connecticut Story On Edsall

I don't share premium info because I want Jeff and crew over at IMS to get compensated fairly. However, this story was shared on the premium boards, and it is a link to a Hartford Newspaper. It is VERY telling of our current situation, and as the IMS guys didn't write it I have no problem sharing it with you all.

Testudo Times Graduating Seniors

Terps marketing is doing an AMAZING promotion. If you would like season (renewable as well!!!) tickets to football games, they are offering a deal for 20% off (so 230$ total) as well as prime seating. The seating will be next to the current student section (on the 40 yard line side!!!). This is only for seniors graduating in May or those that graduated in the fall. PDF from the marketing flyer after the jump. Please post on here if you are interested, and I will email you on details

Testudo Times I am seeing no mention on the future quality of bball

It seems every day another lottery pick announces his intentions to stay (perhaps due to impending lockout). Granted some are leaving (Irving), but players like Sullinger and Barnes (possible) are staying, when in years past they would have been surely gone.

I am extremely excited for the level of play next year, although I think it will be a tough year for mid majors as they will essentially be playing 2 years worth of MCDAA's in the tourney. I also think our optimism for MD next year should be heavily guarded, as Faust may turn out well, but he will not be Austin Rivers(see savior). Who else is excited -or are you still burned out from the Yow v Williams Title fight?

Also I am eagerly anticipating a future documentary called "fab four" that details how sanctions came to be against Kentucky for its 2011-2012 season.

Testudo Times My dad's a Dukie

And REFUSES to admit his ALMA mater accepts basketball players that Maryland cannot (due to academics). I haven't been able to find concrete articles on the matter- just ones that elude to it. Anyone able to find a good source (or sources).

As a fan I always here of how certain players wouldn't get in here, yet I wonder what is so different about our program compared to others. I know the difference has to do with Len Bias' death, but I would like to know if anyone knows the numbers on this difference. Thanks and I wish VA Tech a MONUMENTAL collapse over the next two weeks.

Testudo Times Top 10 Plays on ESPN Today 2/17

#2 Play was of a student from Torrington, Connecticut (Jordan's School if you recall) making a 4 point play to win the game. Check it out, hopefully Williams sees it too.

Testudo Times Tough Break, Davin Meggett's Dad Convicted

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5789655

Per ESPN and AP. Hope Davin's ok. I don;t know the relationship he has with his father, but news like this is tough on anyone, let alone a kid dealing with the rigors of sports/college.

Testudo Times Quote of Year

Clemson beat Georgia Tech despite having 10 players stuck in an elevator at the team hotel in Anderson this morning. The players were stuck on the way to their pregame meal at 11:30 A.M. until 12:15 PM. Fire fighters had to come to the hotel and break the door of the elevator to get the players out.

“I told the guys to calm down,” said coach Dabo Swinney. “If we can get 33 miners out of a shaft in Chile we can get 10 football players out of an elevator in Anderson, SC.”

Testudo Times Great Chat by ESPN with Coaches/Players of ACC

Great insight into the league. Loved the below quote from Greenberg. I want to know what "interesting" means. The Gary quotes are similar to what we've read, but still a good read. Jordan and the players also made some good points as well.

The Smoking Musket U H O H, Its TURTLE TIME!

I, along with many others am driving on up to WVU and I am trying to figure out which cousins are off limits and which ones I can hit on? Reason I ask is I don't want to split up any families, as you all will surely need to circle the wagons after we drop 62 on ya'll.

Testudo Times Best Eats in the ACC

Patrick Stevens over on http://d1scourse.typepad.com/ (former Washington Times beat writer and arguably best Terps writer) compiled a list of best places to go at ACC schools.  I HIGHLY recommend checking this guys blog out, and if your visiting a school for a road trip (for sports only not potential admission of course:)) then check this out prior.

Testudo Times Senior Night Help

Ok guys this is it. The Big Night. The send off. The night our hero is honored. Lets post some creative chants to somehow honor Vasquez. Also, anything creative for Hayes and Milbourne is suggested as well.

I am also trying to think of some way to tell Vasquez we love him, and in a way that shows he is a part of USA- or somehow counter those obnoxious fans at other schools who chanted USA.

Vasquez has given us his all, it is our turn to give him our all.

Go Terps!

Testudo Times FRONT PAGE OF ESPN- GENERAL GREIVIS!!!

They credit him for 3 for 3. He's getting national attention!!! ACC PoY???

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/

Also, he is player of the week!!!

http://espn.go.com/ncb/notebook/_/page/notebookweeklywatch0914/week-14

Keep it up Greivis!

Maryland is also in the running as top team of the week, but Kentucky stole the honor.

O and this goes without saying- Tucker's shot at the buzzer made one of the top highlights of the week (Hopefully the year!) Go TERPS!!!

From The Rumble Seat Let me be the first to welcome you!

Hello Jacket fans! I a fellow  ACC member am doing my conference duty in welcoming you to the great state of Maryland. We hope you will enjoy our hospitality at comcastle, and sure hope Hewitt displays his usual genius while coaching (http://www.testudotimes.com/2010/2/18/1316311/acc-head-coaching-power-rankings).

Although your stay will be brief, I hope your seven loses in conference play wont make you cringe when you leave. Look on the brightside, ole Hewitt can tell you all "HEY I GOT FAVORS AND WE GOT 6 WINS! IM a GREAT COACH!" and all will be well in the HIVE.

I see your draft projection is your front page story, and it is my hope you focus your attention back on basketball as that we may properly entertain you with all the tricks our team can't wait to display. I await the show.

Forever yours,

Testudo

Testudo Times ESPN STORY- THOMAS DOUBTFUL AGAINST TERPS

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4905629

The headline says it all. However, I may be glad they don't have Thomas in the game, I hope he is okay. It is always a shame to see a kid get hurt, and I'd like the terps to beat the Dukies at full strength, but any advantage I'll take. I hope everyone is as hyped as I am for this game.

On a side note, I'm scared Wake Forest will sweep in and take the ACC regular title. Just looking at games left, and I am hard pressed to find many games in which they are not favored to win. Sure wished we had 2 games in which to play them.

GO TERPS!

Testudo Times I am actually excited to read the UNC pregame info.

I am eagerly anticipating the pregame right up because this team looks UGLY. Evident not only by their loss tonight, and their losses in four of there last five (before VT), but by the postings on UNC's sb page. Things are not looking good for the former NCs.

Anyone see this as a trap game or are you all just as excited as I find myself?

That being said here's a link from ESPN that has a nice piece on MD. It was posted at 1am so I don't think it made the MM (Which I think TestudoTimes is the only sb blog tht does something like this!). It is similar to the other stories but still, always nice to see ESPN throwing terps love.

http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/3285/vasquez-keeps-cool-terps-stay-hot-at-fsu

Just wanted to add that whenever I visit another team's boards I am always so thankful for the great crew we terps have working at testudotimes- top notch boys!

Help out Stevens and click link. We don;t want our best terp reporter to have to give up his terp coverage, so click any story he has (I know it isn't terps here but still check his blog and this guy is the real deal).

Testudo Times Cinci Loses AGAIN and Lance acts like a donkey!

As the headline points out Cincinnati lost AGAIN, this time to UAB. Although the Temple loss will in all likely hood turn out to be a respectable one this clearly hurts our SOS, and makes the loss look a lot worse. Also, Cinci got killed on the boards, which worries me for ACC play because if one recalls the Mary-Cinci game we got killed on the boards. The best part of it all is Lance finally showed why we has a rep for attitude. He was assessed a technical for protesting a foul, and then fouled out because of the technical- Hence the title.  Also, and I am not blaming him for this, in fact seems like a tough break, he hurt his ankle. To summarize vindication in this loss, and heartache for a Maryland fan.

Testudo Times Debbie Yow TAKE NOTE!!!!!

Bud Foster is shopping for a HC job. I am sure every booster would pony up some cash to buy out Franklin and Fridge in order to steal one of the countries best coordinators. Also, he is a hell of a recruiter, with strong ties in the region. Hell with our offense being so terrible, what good will the offensive coordinator do as HC. I believe with this guy at the helm and our history of outstanding linebackers, recruits would pile up. O and it'd be a great way to stick it to VT.

Testudo Times Johnathan Graham?

Haven't heard about this guy at all. Seems like hes solid, yet I hear about Hippo and Pankey more. Why? Oddly enough, Hippo and Pankey are not even listed on this list. Also, they mention Maryland (oddly enough they are the only ones mentioned) by name in Leslie's recruitment information , yet don't have him considering us- I believe this is an error.

Here is ESPN's link for top Uncommitted PF/C's
