That's good to hear! that would give us a little more back court strength & especially ball control. I think an argument can also be made for the twin towers lineup (Melo, Dez, Jake, Celovsky, & Trayvon)...It'd be a cool experiment if nothing else!

* I could see Turge using a line up the bulk of the time where Smo is our PF paired with either Cekovsky or Dodd for the rebounding. So basically...

It seems like it's a little easier to imagine guard rotations and possibilities (pecking order a bit more established with Dez and Melo), but when we look at the front court it's almost like anything could happen...

Looking at who we might guess would be the 5 guys on the floor at the end of a game...

Can Dez make the leap and handle some point for us? Maybe in some specific game match ups or in situations where we want to guarantee the ball is in his hands.

It seems like the current model for recruiting for everybody more or less is to get the best players you can all the time. With Calipari at UK being the far end of the spectrum in terms of the players he can reel in in a given class.

Maybe one way to look at it would be that Grant's trajectory proved a very good short term buy where as Layman's is more the classic solid long term investment.

The question I was asking was would we of had enough that one year (2013-14) to get into the tourney if we had had Grant playing at the level he did for us his sophmore year? that year was a great break out year for him.

Agree in some of those games Grant was a force under the bucket which was a bit surprising for how early it was; fortunately for us we should get a year likely two more with Jake.

Ideally a recruit would have a good measure of both: athletic physical play and an awesome stroke from deep, but in reality recruits often have one as their stronger suit. I am glad Turge seems to be making sure we field a team that has gifted shooters.

Dez will be hard to replace I'm slowly coming to grips with this fact; once we get the back court combo guard (Blackwell?) it'd be awesome if we could find a bit of a power player like Dez; powerful wing players can be hard to find though!

This position for me was basically Seth's and now the baton goes to Pack for this one season. This position although not necessarily a starter is a starters minutes potential position in our back court (so who we get here is a big deal!)

Nice feed do you get the sense that Blackwell might be becoming the priority at this point?

In this breakdown Pack is really a significant player for us with a speculative 20 minutes at key positions when needed (PG in particular). Pack could easily be or become our most important new player in terms of impact on how far we go this season...

I think your instincts are right with the Dodd (25) Reed (10) guestimate although it would be awesome if Reed's defense at some point commands his presence in there and it becomes a two horseman model where they both get close to 20 minutes.

Justin Beiber swag!

If Dodd's offense starts to click and Reed's rim protection defense is strong enough to not get backed down than we should be in good shape at the 5

always been excited about the potential Dodd brings to the table he is a pretty big dude!

That's good to hear... can't wait to see these guys play especially some of the ones we haven't seen yet like Nickens and the reast of the Crab 5!

Pack might be a key for us, with Cevok working his way into starters minutes...the mystery will be (Dodd, Graham, Wiley, Reed, Nickens) ie who emerges who needs another year or two.
