Checking in with Milton
Since our beloved Rangers are doing their usual bang up job of seizing the moment in April (with a favorable schedule and healthy roster this time), I thought it might be nice to check in with our OPS stud from last year and see how he's enjoying his new digs. Because now that he's respected and paid he's going to lay it on the line on a daily basis for his new team. I really liked Milton on our squad last year, but it was a relief that we opted not to lock him in with the contract he was looking for. Philip Humber?
He was DFA'd today to make room for Morillo by the Twins. He was part of the Santana package and a former #3 pick in the draft by the Mets. He has struggled this year out of the pen, but his control is good and his AAA WHIP in 07 and 08 were decent. He throws 90-91. Probably not a huge upside, but I'd like to see us claim him and stash him as a starter at OKC. Certainly at this point the price is right. The Twins are usually pretty good about judging pitchers, but unless he is injured I wouldn't take a 4 game sample size from the pen as the final word. He is from Texas. Maybe we could be the benificaries of a change of scenery and a return to starting pitching for him- Goldstein had him just about as high as Pelfrey in their system in 07. What do you think?
This is inanity at its' finest. Governor Perry declared at a tea party yesterday that secession could be in Texas' future. I didn't think he could top 'adios, mofo' but he has done just that. What are your thoughts of the governor's latest braggadocio?
