The 2009 Football Season is Over!!

We Started off strong... a perfect 5-0 heading into the Red River Shootout, where we met up with an undefeated OU. It was a back and forth game that had to be decided in overtime!

After 2 overtimes, Sam Bradford is picked by Chykie Brown, and all Texas had to do was knock down a field goal to leave Dallas victorious. Hunter would not disappoint. Texas won 48-45 in double OT.

The next big battle was with Oklahoma State. It was close for the majority of the game, but a key Segrio Kindle Sack ended OSU's hopes for a comeback and Texas escaped OSU with a 31-21 Victory.

Kansas proved to be a high scoring nuisance but could not stop Texas, as the Longhorns won 41-31.

Texas than proceeded to slaughter the Aggies to a tune of 45-13 in College Station. Cody Johnson had 4 TD's.

The Big 12 Championship game pitted Texas against a VERY feisty Kansas team in their 2nd match up in a 4 week span. Kansas led at Half, 28-17...an undefeated season and shot at the National Championship was on the line in the 2nd half. Texas steadily climbed back and with 4 minutes to go in the game Texas had the ball down 26-28 on the Kansas 48 yard line. The near perfect Colt McCoy made his biggest mistake of the year throwing an interception to the ball hawking safety from KU. But the Texas defense would not go out without a fight. They forced a 3 and out and gave Colt another chance , this time with 1:13 left on the clock. Colt led his undefeated Texas team down the field and with 3 seconds on the clock, Hunter Lawrence hit a 36 yard field goal to win the game and the Big 12 Championship! Texas would face Florida in the BCS National Championship Game.

Tim Tebow won the Hiesman Trophy for a 2nd time, and Christian Scott won the Thorpe award. These two would do battle on January 8th.

Florida got on the board first after a interception by Colt McCoy. But the Longhorns would not be discouraged, as they scored on 3 straight possessions and led at halftime... 17-7

But in the 2nd half, Florida came out fighting. After a fumble by Fozzy Whitaker, Tim Tebow capitalized and brought the Gators within 3. Then yet ANOTHER costly fumble by Fozzy, and the Gators again would not let this go unpunished as they took the lead, 21-17. Fozzy would be benched.

Unwaviered, Colt drove his team down the field and ran it in himself from 9 yards out to take the lead back, 24-21. Tim Tebow would make the biggest mistake of his Hiesman winning year by throwing a pick-6 to none other than Aaron Williams, who returned it 67 yards to put the Longhorns up for good. 31-21. Two more Td's, one off a forced fumble by Sergio Kindle, and the other off a 57 yard TD pass from Colt to Malcolm Williams would seal the deal for the Texas Longhorns as they would go on to win their 2nd National Championship in 5 years, 45-21.

At least that's how it happened on my NCAA 2010 Dynasty!

I have searched high and low for a good place to share my thoughts and read other people's thoughts regarding Texas football and just the University of Texas in general... and BON is BY FAR the best place to do that.

You can come to this site and read comprehensive reports brought to us by PB. You can read great articles and great FACTS brought to us by 40AS, BillyZane, HornBrain, 54B and a list of other great people who do nothing but enrich the quality of this site.

On other sites, GROWN ASS MEN bitch and moan and cuss and degrade other LONGHORN FANS to the point of which I just can't take it anymore. I will no longer read other boards, sites, blogs, anything!!! This is it!

I want to thank everyone on that comes to this site and contributes friendly and insightful comments. I know that whenever I come to this board I will not leave it upset, I will leave it only wanting to come back and see what yall have to say about other things.

I am glad to be a BONer, and I only ask of one thing from PB....

Keep up the good work!

PS. Can you please tell me where I can get a BONer t-shirt so I can pimp it around EARTH?

Just Got Back From Practice

Bumped. Awesome. I will try to make it out tomorrow -HB.

And the best two plays of the practice were Fozzy Whitaker (wearing #28 now) running for a long TD down the sideline, and John Chiles throwing a beautiful pass, about 30 yds in the air, to Kirkendoll for a TD.

My thoughts after watching practice:

Dan Buckner and Malcolm Williams are BIG. My friend and I were trying to figure out who was bigger during the entire practice. I think it goes to Buckner.

Fozzy looks like the quickest player on the field. BY FAR.

Desean Hales made a great reaching catch in which he had to speed up and run under the ball.

DJ Monroe got some action, but from the looks of it he is dead last on the WR depth chart. But then again, Mack starts everyone at last and their skills eventually move them up. DJ looked quick, but he also looked very small. Desean Hales looked bigger.

John Chiles and Colt split time pretty much equally. There were about 3 times they were both in the backfield together, but I believe all three times Colt handed it off and then faked an option to JC.

All of the TE's looked good, honestly. Irby, Harris, and Marshall. Marshall looked the best, IMO. Ullman was very solid, but he is so big and represents no real threat after the catch. Marshall looked fast, and Irby was pretty good too. Harris looked fast as well.

The starting Offense had Cosby, Shipley, and Kirkendoll. Don't know how much we should read into this though.

Defense:

I couldn't see the starting front four very well, but I saw Orakpo and Houston for sure. I know that's not earth shattering news, but I want to be totally legit on what I saw.

Starting LB's were Bobino, Muckelroy, and KEENAN ROBINSON. Again, I don't know how much to look into this, but that stuck me as significant. But maybe he is starting only because Muschamp hasn't seen much of Kindle in practice yet.

Starting DB's were Palmer, Beasley, Earl Thomas, and BLAKE GIDEON.

In Nickel Packages Thomas was Nickelback, and Christian Scott and Ben Wells were safeties.

Thomas was everywhere. Everywhere as in, if the ball was somewhere, he was there too.

OK I have to run, but I wanted ya'll to see what I saw. If you have any questions about what went down, please feel free to ask, I'll be answering as many as I can.

Hook'em!

It's official. Today in a press conference Mack Brown said that he had asked DJ where he wanted to play, and DJ said Offense. He will play WR for us this year.

If Monroe can show the burst and speed that he had in the All-star game, then Texas may have just found the playmaker that we've been looking for all offseason!

I just finished watching the THSCA game and there were two Longhorns that played in it, Luke Poehlmann and DJ Monroe. Poehlmann played a solid game but couldn't hold RJ Washington (OU commit). But Texas was represented VERY well by DJ Monroe.

Monroe played RB this game and showed what kind of play-maker he is. Some were comparing him to Romance Taylor. He had a 66 yd TD run, and almost took two kick returns to the house. He finished with around 150 yards rushing and was by far the fastest kid on the field. With 17 seconds left, Monroe returned a kick-off all the way to the North 30 yard line, to put the South in position to win the game. They missed the kick, but Monroe cannot be to blame for the loss. He was the only reason the South even had an offense.

DJ won the MVP Award and gave a great interview around the 3rd quarter where, when asked about where he was going to play at Texas, said "Wherever Coach Brown wants me to play, I'm here for the team."

I love this kid. Can't wait for him to get to Austin!

Hey everyone! It's me, Chase Dunagan, and I just wanted to say that It was an honor to represent The University of Texas and BON... for 3 quarters. I got kicked after I missed the field goal (which should have gone in if it wasn't for the lagging). But I was up 21-0 so I'm pretty sure he knew how things were gonna turn out anyways. :)

I wanna think PB and everyone at Bushleague.tv for letting me be part of this. That was awesome.

I was very flattered, and amused, by the comments yall left. I think I should replace GD too! :)

And number 30 was Desean Hales. He was badass in the game, Vondrell just couldn't get through the D-line. I put in Chiles when I could, but EA gave him a bad passer accuracy, so Colt was the guy I had to stay with for the most part. he was playing man for the most part, and Shipley and Cosby were having a hard time getting open, so I needed an accurate passer. But Chiles did what he could, and I was pleased with his effort. haha

As some people noticed, I made some subs on D, Christian Scott in for Ishie was a big one. I ran a nickel package for the most part, but I tried to run a 4-3 when I could so that Kindle could get some PT. Obviously Beasley was my MVP. He had great awareness and the speed to take his INT's to the house. But the D-line was clutch on some short 3rd downs.

I think it's awesome that yall all watched the game! I was in the dark fro the most part, because I had to turn off the other computers so that I could get enough Bandwidth to play online. But after reading all the comments, It's awesomet o see that so many people had my back.

My friend almost choked me to death when I threw that first pick, but I made up for it so all is forgiven, right? lol

Well Thanks again guys, I see that the CPU finished him off in the 4th, 28-7. ( He probably wouldn't have scored on me if I was playing the 4th tho) :)

That is how much time separates me from heaven on Earth.

Until then, I'm hoping to get some BONer's views on who the potential playmakers for our Horns' will be this season. Offense, and Defense.

Colt, Cosby, and Orakpo are eliminated, because we know what these guys can do. I want someone who only us BON'ers and fellow Longhorn fans know about. Someone that on day one of the 2008 season, no one outside of Texas will have heard his name, and then in December, the team we're playing in our Bowl will have to making game plans specifically for him.

I'm personally hoping it will be Deshaun Hales on offense. And Christian Scott on Defense.

Dumb Aggie Pwned

Dumb aggie wondering why his basketball team isn't ranked in the top 25 for next season.

"In your preseason top 25, you don't have Texas A&M listed in the top 25 or among "others considered." Explain to me how a team that has made the tournament each of the past three years; a team that was a blown call from defeating UCLA this past season; a team that was in the Sweet 16 two years ago; a team that loses little if you consider DeAndre Jordan a loss; and has another year of digesting coach Mark Turgeon's philosophy gets ignored? You had some votes for Baylor, whom the Aggies beat 71-57 last season. Texas is in your top 25. The Aggies beat the Longhorns 80-63. You even have votes for Ohio State, whom the Aggies crushed 70-47."

Sound logic huh?

Rvials.com writer doens't seem to think so.

let the ownage begin.....

"I don't think you can compare Texas A&M to Texas and Baylor, at least not favorably. The Longhorns and Bears each return four starters from NCAA Tournament teams. And while A&M did beat both those teams once, it also lost to both, including a 27-point setback to Texas. Ohio State, the other team you mentioned, loses three starters, just like the Aggies. On the plus side, the Buckeyes signed the nation's No. 6 recruiting class - which includes B.J. Mullens (the nation's No. 1 overall prospect). A&M's class isn't in the top 30."

PWNED. Now sit down Aggie. And shut up.

Favorite Stadium Moment

On the dawn of a our first game in our newly renovated stadium, I would like to know what your favorite moment has been, while you were in attendance at a Texas game at Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium?

I am only 21, and I have only been to about 12 games there, including the Nebraska game where Charles went off, and the Ohio State game that was just an amazing atmosphere.

With not much to go on, my favorite moment is kind of a double edged sword. It is the Kansas St. game of 2007. At half time it started to pour, and most of the fans went inside to stay out of the rain. The only people still outside in the rain were the students, the band, and the hardcore fans. Everyone was going crazy!!! We were jumping up and down on the bleachers, not caring that the likelihood of one of us slipping and breaking our leg or something was very high, but we didn't care. Our team was down at half and we knew that something had to change for us to get back into the game. As the rain came down harder, the remaining crowd only got louder. More rain. More noise. Then our brilliant band conductor did something that I've never witnessed at the game. He rallied the band and they started play "The Eyes of Texas." I have never seen a crowd sing that song with more emotion than at that moment. Even the "Picnic fans" and sorority girls, were up off their butts, singing at the top of their lungs.

I wish someone would have been taking a video of that moment. It will forever live in my heart as one of the most meaningful fan moments of my life.

Too bad the coaches failed to capitalize on our noise, and instead stuck to their first half game plan and we lost miserably. Oh well.

Hook'em!

For those of you that are not orangeblood members, there is a rumor going around that Curtis Brown might be moved to WR for the up coming season.

What do yall think about this??

I personally think that he is an elite CB who has a much better chance at making it to the NFL as CB..... BUT a part of me is selfish and wants him to play WR just so he can be that game breaker that we need on offense when Chiles is on the bench.
