2010 Texas Rangers: The Year DFW Became a Baseball Town
Ok ladies and gents, so Jamey Newberg was gracious enough to mention my video in his report today. He linked my video and once again a lot of people couldn't see it. Anyways, I tried again to put it on Vimeo and it worked this time! I will mention I put together this video at some very trying times for me personally. I was laid off from my job with the Vigilantes as media relations director and my grandma died after game 2 of the World Series. Putting this together was a way for me to get my mind off things and reflect on the greatest season in Texas Rangers history. What a ride!

Josh Hamilton Update
ANAHEIM, Calif. - This email from Rangers GM Jon Daniels updating Josh Hamilton's status: "Josh saw Dr. Robert Watkins this morning out here in CA. Dr. Watkins had given Josh a CT scan and a spec scan yesterday and another CT scan today. He diagnosed a small stable fracture in the 7th and 8th ribs, that previous tests (2 x-rays and an MRI) had not picked up. Dr. Watkins gave Josh an anti-inflammatory injection at the site of the discomfort, and an epidural nerve-block injection for pain management. It is typically 48-72 hours before it's known whether this treatment has the desired effect. Once the discomfort recedes to a point where Josh is comfortable, he can return to baseball activities." More to come later.

Oswalt demands a trade
Well it's about time honestly, Will Carrol is reporting that his agent has 3 teams lined up.
According to Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle, Astros general manager Ed Wade has confirmed that Roy Oswalt has requested a trade.

What the hell is going on at the ballpark!
In conjunction with another fan post I just saw I have a similar story from tonight's game that is just as mind boggling. Situation is as following: Bottom of the 8th, tied game, runners on 3rd and 1st...Kinsler at the plate.
So of course me and my buddies start a IAN KINS-LER chant that we start getting into. Meanwhile fans in the right field porch are trying to get the wave going as the game has come to a critical point and our fans are clueless once again. So, as were chanting, an usher comes down to our row and says, "I'm going to have to ask you to be quiet b/c we're getting complaints."
I was utterly shocked and could not believe what was going on. Here is a game at it's most critical point, we're in 1st place, I'm trying to encourage Kins to get the go-ahead hit and you're telling me to be quiet!? I couldnt believe it and still dont. I then yelled back the following:
"Are you serious?! What about the wave? Is that OK? Is this supposed to be a serious fan base? He then went off to hide because at that point I know he was embarrassed b/c other fans were chirping in to.
Kins goes on to get the winning hit b/c of the karma against the usher. Later in between the 8th and 9th while Neftali is warming up, the same usher comes back down and at this point I am outraged. I yell to him," Hey man, I'll tell you this, next time the damn Yankees are in town and they start their Lets Go Yankees chant, you better tell them to shut the fuck up."
It made me feel good b/c I was so disappointed in a person working for our OWN franchise to tell us to be quiet. No alcohol was involved and it was a good clean cheer.
I wrote the following to Greenberg on Facebook and like the champ he is, he wrote back quickly:
Kenny Bybee May 8 at 10:57pm First of all Happy Bday sir! So ready to have you aboard. Tonight something at the game severly disappointed me. I was sitting in Sec. 320 and my group of friends were chanting Ian Kinsler during his big AB in the 8th. Thats when an usher actually came and told us to get this, BE QUIET. Im still in disbelief it actually happened. I have been a diehard Rangers fan since 90 when i was 6. It was a punch to the gut to be told to be quiet when im trying to pump up the crowd and doing so in a tasteful manner. Im not asking for free tickets or anything, i just wanted to voice my concern bc this fan base is on the verge of being apart of something special and that moment tonight from one of our employees was very disappointing.
Chuck Greenberg May 8 at 11:21pm hi kenny...thx for the bday wishes...thx too for telling me about your experience tonight...that's crazy and certainly totally inconsistent with my view of the world...enthusiasm is good...period...although I don't have any real say in matters yet, I will follow up and see if we can get to the bottom of it...hang in there and keep the faith!
I know Chuck Morgan goes through these posts and Newberg, Chuck if your reading this, can anything be done about this nonsense? I feel ashamed to be a Rangers fan when something like this happens. The wave is one thing, but this is downright BS!

Crush is Back!
The Rangers are expected to call up first baseman Chris Davis and add him to the roster when they open a three-game series with the Yankees in New York on Tuesday.
Davis is expected to play regularly at first base, meaning Hank Blalock would likely be a platoon DH or simply be a bat off the bench. Blalock is hitting .180 with a .204 on-base percentage and a ,337 slugging percentage for the month of August.
Davis is hitting .327 with six home runs and 30 RBI in 44 games and 165 at-bats since being sent back to Triple A Oklahoma City at the end of June. He has a .418 on-base percentage and a .521 slugging percentage.
The Rangers would have to make a corresponding roster move to make room for Davis but he is coming back to the Major Leagues for the stretch run and manager Ron Washington made it clear that he will be used at first base.

Hamilton back before the All-Star break
Per InsideCorner:
Rangers Now Believe Josh Hamilton Could Be Back Before All-Star Game
Just got an email from GM Jon Daniels suggesting that there is a “reasonable” chance Hamilton could return to the playing field before the All-Star Game and, if elected, he’d like to participate in the game. The Home Run Derby is almost certainly out, however. Daniels said the Rangers would support Hamilton’s decision if he wants to play.
Hamilton has been among the leaders in votes for the AL outfield despite a subpar offensive year. But his time on the DL could discourage fans from voting for him, thinking he might not be back in time. Based on his current level of activity, Daniels believes its reasonable Hamilton could be activated before the first half ends.

Free agent right-hander Orlando Hernandez, who last pitched with the New York Mets in 2007, has signed a minor league deal with the Rangers. Hernandez will begin working out with the Oklahoma City RedHawks this weekend and is expected to be on the roster next week.
