Huck the Fuskies
I've started my traditional "Huck the Fuskies" thread at http://www.uwdawgpound.com/
If you have a moment or two, come and enjoy the fun before it really turns ugly. That said, I do try and keep it somewhat respectful. I don't know why, but I do.
As to the game, I see UW's strengths playing into the teeth of our defense. They really don;t have a power running game and our team speed is too much for an outside game. I also think our team speed will pretty much contain their QB.
Official Duck Hunting / Huck the Fuskies Thread
Well, I'm back for the third year. I used to post under blazer prophet, but due to an internal software issue at SB, I had to change.
OK, enough chit-chat. I'll even drop the tired old Fuskie jokes- good as they are.
Well, where should I start? First, congrats for beating the Trojans as well as the usual UW tough non conference schedule. One good thing (and maybe the only good thing) I'll say for UW is that they take on any team, any time. That's a rarity these days and you are to be commended.
The Fuskies were my darkhorse team to make it to a decent bowl game this year from the traditional bottom dwellers of the PAC-10. If not, then the UO game will be your usual bowl game. Shoot, maybe you'll actually win this year- OK, OK, THAT'S A JOKE. I haven't bothered to watch any of your games as I really don't care or like the Fuskies. Never have. Never will. In fact, my 3 favorite teams are UO, OSU & whoever plays UW. Seriously. This, to me, is a heated rivalry and I take the game seriously- within boundries, of course.
As to UO, it will almost assuredly be our back up QB (Costa) getting the start. He's a newbie and feeling his way along, but he played steady againt UCLA and I expect the coach will want him passing more and put in an early passing plan that will be very safe and easy to build some confidence. He's a very fast runner, but after 3 major knee surgeries, they don't want him running at all like Masoli can, so there's no need to key on him. If we're going to win, it will be thru our defense, which has been stellar all season. The UO defense is very fast and sure, but with our top 3 db's out, we're suseptible to the long ball. Good for us, UW doesn't really have a QB that can throw. In fact, I'd say the Fuskies are a team we match up well against.
Playing at UW will make this a tough game. A win for the Fuskies will pretty much assure them of a bowl game and if UO is going to contend for a top 3 PAC-10 finish, then this game is a must win.
Prediction: Despite missing our QB, top RB and top 3 DB's, I'll say UO by 10 in a tough, close game.
Editors Note : Blazer Prophet or whatever he calls himself now has been making yearly appearances before the Oregon game on the blog with his witty canard like humor since the very first days of the blog. If you are a Husky fan keep in mind that he is a pretty good guy except for that Duck thing. Everyone keep it clean and have fun.
