Jake Long will be a fin for life
To my fellow Phinsider followers, will some of you please stop the rumors of Jake Long being traded??!?? He is not and will not go anywhere. He was our first overall pick out of 256 collegiate players in the 2008 NFL draft. In 4 years he has 4 pro bowls appearances and 2 all pro selections and could be headed to a 3rd. He is the best player this franchise has had since Dan Marino and Ricky Williams.
Its not worth giving up a hall of fame left tackle for an unproven QB, alright??!? If you give up unprovern players in the form picks for the right to move up and select an unproven QB you can add solid/decent NFL talent but never a proven hall of famer. Listen guys we are going to get our qb alright and were not going to have to give up our superstar left tackle. We simply can't afford to.
What did Couch, Carr, Smith and so many other great college QB's not have when they came out? An OFFENSIVE LINE/LEFT TACKLE! Jake long is going to be a Phin for 8-10 more years and he will be the highest paid left tackle in football by the end of 2012. Thank you and please stop these dumb "trade long scenarios" its not gonna happen, but tthats just me i wonder how you guys feel, let me know in the poll below.
thatcoolguy's realistic 2012 offseason.
Alright so this post is basically about the Miami Dolphins 2012 off-season and what i think we should do via free agency and the draft. Every scenario I'm about to post i think is very realistic. Post your thoughts/opinions below if you would like.
FREE AGENCY
SIGN CARL NICKS G- I think we have got to snatch this guy up without a doubt. I don't think New Orleans retains him. They are not a rich franchise and they are going to have to spend big time to keep Drew Brees. Either they apply the franchise tag or have to work out a new deal. Either way Carl Nicks is leaving and he has to be this teams main focus during free agency.
RE-SIGN VERNON CAREY G- This is a very key move we must make. Vernon is a very underrated o-lineman and has done and will continue to do great things for us as a guard. I certainly think he would be ok with a hometown discount to remain with the team.
SIGN MICHAEL GRIFFIN FS/SS- This may or may not happen but I don't think Reshad Jones has done enough to secure the FS spot for the future. Also Bell is heading into the final year of his contract with the Phins at SS so a safety is certainly on our radar. That takes care of our free agency!
Now for the 2012 NFL DRAFT!!!!
DRAFT ROUND 1. TRADE!!!! Between the Miami Dolphins and the Minnesota Vikings. We would send them our 8th overall pick, our 2nd round pick, our 3rd round pick and Richie Incognito for their 3rd overall pick and 4th round pick. we would take ROBERT GRIFFIN III and they would take the LT they would so badly need Rief/Martin there at 8. IF ST.LOUIS IS PICKING #1 THOUGH I THINK WE GO AFTER THAT AS WELL. THE REST OF THE DRAFT WOULD BE PRETTY UNEVENTFUL FOR US BUT HEY WE GOT OUR QB!
why miami is the right fit for luck
Ok ok now i know some of us are sick about hearing this "suck for luck" campaign stuff along with anything and evreything that has the word "luck" in it, but some of us like to hear the words "luck" and "miami" in the same breathe or sentence! dont we? well am one of those who love it. anywho am sure some of you have heard and feared about the possibility of andrew luck actually pulling a power play in the draft like eli manning and john elway did in there respective classes simply because he and his father wouldnt like the situation he would be going into!. now thats not saying that would happen if our dolphins had the first pick maybe he would love coming here to miami and so would his father.... But then it hit me why did eli not wanna go to san diego in 04? so i browsed around the web and found out exactly wha happened well not "exactly" but preety much what i need and wanted to know. Less then a week before the draft archie manning went out and had dinner with the gm aj smith and coach at the time marty shcottenheimer and discussed several things like the direction of the franchise and the possibilties of his son going #1 to san diego... well apparently the dinner did not go so well bc exactly 3 days before the draft archie and eli had there agent call san diego and state that eli was not gonna play for them no matter what and if he had to he would sit out...then i did a little more digging and there were a bunch of possible reasons why archie didnt want his son to go to SD, one its been rumored that he didnt want his son to play for a small market team because he wouldnt be able to get the exposure he needed, also there were rumblings that archie didnt feel like his son had the talent around him, and lastly he didnt want his son to have to carry a team by himself that had not had a winning season at the time for 10 years!..
So that brings me to our franchise and andrew luck, in my heart of hearts and am not trying to sound like a homer here or anything i trully believe that this is the perfect spot for andrew luck and heres why..
- for one the miami dolphins are a very big market team, miami is one of the biggest markets in the nfl and the nba we have primetime games almost evrey year on monday night football more often then not
- we have been an average team for the past 3 years (except this one) and have really been alive till the last month of the season for the last 2 even though we went 7-9 thos 2 years could of been 9-7 seasons at least with decent qb play ALL YEAR.
- we have a solid core of good football players on offense jake long, mike pouncy, anchoring the oline that is a player away from bieng simply dynamic and a great recieving core with a top 15 wr in brandon marshal and a top 5 slot reciever in davonne bess and a rising rb in thomas and a lethal weapon in reggie bush. and we have the foundation to be a great defense for years.
- honestly i dnt think he wants to sit 3 years behind peyton in indy, and i think no other franchise would be better quicker with him then the dolphins and i mean extremely better.
- miami gives him the best chance to succeed very quickly and vice versa, andrew luck belongs here, he makes perfect sense here, and he already knows am sure that he will be adored here.
i hope you enjoyed my post...constructive criticism is welcomed.
andrew luck gameday conversation
i want this guy to lead us for the rest of the decade and into the next!
luck pulling an eli?
i hope he and his father love miami.
fantasy baseball anyone?
hey guys, i just made a fantasy baseball league over on espn and i was wondering if anyone wanted to join...plz only serious players that have played it before and stuck with it haha..anywho the name is "mlb fantasy 2.0" and the draft will take place tommorow at 8:15 so hurry up and get in theres only 9 spots left!..... also its gonna be something to do and look forward to during this lockout anyways haha but yea serious players only. thank you and god bless.
lombardi has green and jones out of top 10!
wow i was just watching nfl total access and michael lombardi has got a.j green and julio jones both out of the top 10!? could you imagine if that would happen? if both do get past the top 10 the texans and lions would not need a reciever wich would mean the vikes, rams and us could pick up one of these 2?? i doubt it will happen but could you imagine? it would be a dream.
my offseason dolphins mock!
First things first lets hope a brand spanking new cba gets announced before the deadline..which i believe it will. alright folks in this article which i call "my offseason mock" i will talk about our main needs and what we could and should possibly due this offseason. now we already know what our FO as well as coaches want for this team the upcoming season TO BE MORE EXPLOSIVE. well we took a first step in doing that by hiring a new young brashy offensive coordinator in brian daboll he came with some question marks but i believe in the guy. am gonna try to hit the points where we're in most need and hopefully you guys will give me some feedback with what you think.
looking ahead 2011 nfl draft
am hoping that when this time comes around were picking in the early 20's at least lol but anywho seeing evreyone posting our draft needs has made me wanna do the same. i honestly think that both ronnie and ricky are gonne be gone by the time this draft comes maybe ricky will stay for 1 more year but i doubt it.
ROUND 1- i definatley see us recouping our 2nd rd pick by trading up.
PICK- CB BRANDON HARRIS (MIAMI)
ROUND 2
PICK- WR LEONARD HANKERSON (MIAMI)
ROUND 3
PICK- RB DEMARCO MURRAY (OU)
and the 4--6 rounds on o-line
why are ppl giving up we still have a shot!
alright obviosuly we have to win our last 6 games to make the playoffs and we did a similar thing in 08 look i believe we can still go 11-5 but only if brandon comes back wich i think he will and chad can come back by our next game or if tyler dumpin plays good for 1 game. the defense is more than capable of getting the job done. we can beat a decent oakland team an upstart cleveland team then head up to the meadowlands and knockoff the jets knockoff the lions and bills and we go into a week 17 showdown vs the pats. we can and we will the jets have tough games remaining vs the texans, the bengals can pull an upset at anytime,ne,us,pit, and chicago and the bills. so they can definatyle drop 2 or three maybe 4 of those games the way they've been playing lately. the pats on the other hand a more explosive team has a pretty tough schedule as well they still got ind, det, nyjchi,gb,buf, and us so hey you never know they might drop 3 or 4 and the ravens the still have car,tb,pit, hou, cle, and cincy
so the might drop 2 or 3 if we can win our last 6 wich i know we can we can get to and get to 11 wins we definatley still have a shot at the playoffs so theres still alot of football left go fins!!.
THIGPEN IS A BIG TIME JOKE!
ok this was by far the biggest piece of @#$% performance i have ever seen by a qb alright idc what anyone on this board says about how ohh but proctor when out and this and that and marshall got hurt ohh cry me a river. listen for all of you that have your doubts on henne well your dumb because i mean would you have him now at qb. thigpen is a big fat joke a horrible signal caller and its disgusting. this reminds me of the cleo lemon days. the defense played like always decent. thank god that chad henne will probably be back for the raiders because if not i would see us going 5-11 with thigpen he's a proven loser lmao staring qb my a$$ we need to at least win 5 out of our next 6 games to even have a hope of making the playoffs and that really sucks!.

my keys to victory vs the pats!.
ok so last week we played a game a that many of us thought and many experts thought we would win but sadley that was not the case at all. we played good but not good enough. chad henne, brian hartline, brandon marshall, and davon bess had monster games and jason allen had a game that evreyone including him would probably love to forget. but thats ok because week 3 of the 2010 season is over and were 2-1 in an early 3 team tie for first. week 4 for us comes monday night against the patriots in a game that is HUGE for us as well as them and there are 3 keys to victory i have in mind that in my opinion will get us the W and hopefully sole possession of first place in our division.......more after the jump
what happens to sean smith?
what can happen to our 2009 2nd round pick if jason allen continues to play at this amazing high pace level
he's playing? and safety is preety much booked with clemons and bell. i think sean is to talented to be a nickel for us but am starting to think that maybe thats gonna have to be the case and if benny sapp plays decently then honestly i dont see us keeping sean for to long he'll probably just be a core special teamer and a nickel and dime back for us so if thats the case i honestly wouldnt mind moving him on draft day maybe we involve him and a late round pick to recoup our 2nd? idk i just think that if he's not really gonna be what we thought he would be and evreyone of our db's plays better why keep him? we kept jason allen because he was an amazing special teamer but i dont think sean smith can be that good? so what do you guys think we should do with him?!?!?
what our draft strategy should be?.
alright so were just two days away from one of the most anticipated days of the year the nfl draft!. there has been alot of speculation of who will go where and what teams will trade up or down with that in mind i would like to put in my two cents on what i think our miami dolphins should do.
there are some needs this team has but mainly safety and pass rusher in my eyes are the most glaring ones. so these are 3 scenarios i think could present themselves during the draft and if any of them do we should act on them.
1.kansas city trades out of the num.5 spot for our 12th and i guess a 3rd and we make a HUGE move and pick up eric berry. now this isnt a fantasy it is very possible that this situation could present itself and am sure the fins would act on it.
2.we trade up from the 12th spot and pickup a 2nd rd pick in the process. now if this were to happen we would need guys like clausen, thomas, and maybe bryant to fall for us for a team to move down and snatch them up. its always a good thing to recouperate a 2nd rd pick and still be at least in the top 25. some players we would look at if this where to happen in my eyes are guys like sean weatherspon, brandon graham, dan williams, jerry hughes guys like that.
3.the last scenario is we could stay with the 12th pick and draft a studd pass rusher like a derrick morgan or a jason pierre-paul or maybe snatch up earl thomas.
out of the 3 scenarios the one i personally would prefer the fins do is scenario #2 because were picking up a 2nd rd pick and we can still get a quality player remember this years draft is very deep. so tell me what you guys think or what you would like us do. thx for reading.
marshall might be a seahawk
its bieng reported by adam schefter that the seahawks are preparing to offer rfa brandon marshall to an offer sheet
and the broncos would have 7 days to match it if they dont then they will get seatle's 6th overall pick. hmm how would this impact the draft if the broncos would hold the 6th and 11th picks, i think this can seriously impact our draft. your thoughts? i think that this could hurt our chances of getting dez bryant if that who we are targeting.
POSSIBILITIES FOR A FUTURE #1 RECIEVER
ok so we know it and evreyone knows it. the weakest part of our team by far are our recievers. look camarillo, and hartline could be solid #2's at best and bess will be our slot reciever for a long time to come and as far as patrick turner goes well we wasted a 3rd round pick lol. so as far as next year goes the free agent wire for recievers is very weak only brandon marshall and t.o are headlining it next year. i doubt were gonna take t.o and as far as brandon goes i highly doubt the trifecta will take a chance on a guy like that wich leads us to the draft. last year we had a good draft we snatched up amazing talents in vontae davis and sean smith as well as the nice pickups of pat white, brian hartline, and chris clemons.and the wr class wasnt very deep it could of been better. this years class however could be extremely deep. here are a list of guys that we could draft that could instantly become our #1 and have an impact!
DAMIAN WILLIAMS-USC
Through eight games, Damian Williams has 43 catches for 607 yards and four touchdowns. He also has two scores on punt returns. Other receivers have prettier numbers, but Williams plays in a pro-style offense with a true freshman quarterback. He's the best wideout prospect in the 2010 class as far as I'm concerned, but it's close.
DEZ BRYANT-OSU
His athleticism could make him the first receiver chosen in the 2010 NFL Draft, but Dez Bryant seems to have lapses during games. He's certainly talented, but I'm not a huge fan.
BRANDON LaFELL-LSU
Brandon LaFell has had a great year so far despite not having a great quarterback.
GOLDEN TATE-ND
Doesn't have the upside of an Arrelious Benn, but I'd rather have the sure thing. Golden Tate has 56 catches for 927 yards and nine touchdowns in eight games.
ARRELIOUS BENN-ILLINOISE
an amazing talent with huge upside his stock has dropped because of juice williams not giving him the ball.
there it is my top 5 guys that we could snatch up in this years draft that could be amazing number one recievers for us right of the bat.
#21 vontae davis
ok this guy in my heart i beleve will be a top 3 corner in 2 years.......a couple of months before the draft he could of been a top 10 pick what happened i dont know. all i know is that this guy is the perfect prototype and boy is he explosive.....he has the body of a lb the speed of a wr/rb and hits harder than almost anyone in the nfl...i trully think that with a little more discipline he can be a shut down corner in no time.
DEZMON BRISCOE
jayhawks fans tell me what you think about this player? am working on my 2010 mock draft. 7 rounds! lol.....i have him as a 4th rounder why? well yes he has been very productive but he does not play in a pro-style offense and he runs a slow 40 and those 2 things are gonna hurt him in the draft this year. do you think thats a fair round for him because of all of his negatives and positives?
Looking ahead- the dolphins 2010 nfl draft
ok so were about 8 months away from the 2010 nfl draft and its never too early to look ahead for the nfl draft lol....anywho going into next years draft as of right now i see 4 positions that we could be needing help in when the draft comes along. DT,LB,RB,WR,TE. ok as far as DT goes jason feguson is gonna be 35 and i doubt the fins are gonna resign him and paul soliai is not really as good or better then ferguson so come next april dt could be addressed. RB i think that rb could be addressed because ricky and ronnie's contract will both be up and if we dont hang on to ronnie we might have to pick up a rb next year early in the draft. and finally we have the LB position..matt roth's contract is gonna be up after this year and so is jt's i doubt were gonna bring both back....matt is a decent lb with very limited coverages kills and jt is getting up there in age even though he looked good last night. and well cameron wake idk its to early to tell but i think he is gonna be a solid backup in the nfl.and as far as wr goes if ted ginn does not break out this year and no one steps up big time we could need to address this position next year as well pat turner and hartline are good but none of them are the playmakers we need right now there both ok pocession recievers and davon bess is a grea slot reciever.and i put TE because all of our te's are up fro free agency after this year. so right now our needs for next years draft are RB,LB,DT,WR,AND TE. here are the best top 5 prospects for each of these positions that could declare for next years draft.
DT LB
1.GERALD McCOY, OKLAHOMA 1.TRAVIS LEWIS, OKLAHOMA
2.NDAMUKONG SUH, NEBRASKA 2.BRANDON SPIKES, FLORIDA
3.TERRANCE CODY, ALABAMA 3.SEAN WEATHERSPOON, MISSOURI
4.ARTHUR JONES, SYRACUSE 4.ROLANDO McCLAIN, ALABAMA
5.BRIAN PRICE, UCLA 5.MICHAEL MORGAN, USC
RB WR
1.C.J SPILLER, CLEMSON 1.ARRELIOUS BENN, ILLINOIS
2.JONATHAN DWYER, GEORGIA TECH 2.DAMIAN WILLIAMS, USC
3.JOE McKNIGHT, USC 3.DEZ BRYANT, OKLAHOMA STATE
4.JAHVID BEST, CALIFORNIA 4.BRANDON LaFFEL, LSU
5.EVAN ROYSTER, PENN STATE 5.GOLDEN TATE, NOTRE DAME
TE
1.JERMAINE GRESHAM, OKLAHOMA
2.ROB GRONKOWSKI, ARIZONA
3.DENNIS PITTA, BYU
4.GARRET GRAHAM, WISCONSIN

NO CANES TAKEN IN THIS YEARS DRAFT?
HELLO,
guys i noticed that in this years draft not 1 miami hurricane was taken if am not mistaken...man i remembered that year were i think 6 where taken in the first round...whats happen to this program lise honestly it used to be so dominant wans wrong is it the talent? or coaching? the canes are legendary in ncaa football but man what a difference can a few years make. i just wanted to get your guys thoughts on the state of the program and some guys that you think will declare and get taken early in this years draft or next years like 3rd round and below early.and also if you guys had to pick your best player right now who would it be...?
SEAN SMITH
HELLO,
guys am a dolphin fanatic...and i was very impressed with sean smith tonight he really blossomed tonight in our first preaseason game....and i am very very excited about him i was super pumped when we got him with the 61st overall pick in this years draft i mean that was a steal he could of been a late first-middle second round pick. i saw alot of tape on him and i also saw him in the bowl game last year. right now it looks like he has a good chance of beating out vontae davis or first pick for the starting corner job. i just wanted to drop by here and get your guys point of view on this player. what are some of his strong points and flaws? but really what do you think of him? thx guys.
