PFT: Grimm will interview with the Bills

"Despite reports suggesting that Cardinals offensive line coach Russ Grimm could decline an opportunity to interview for the head-coaching job in Buffalo, it appears that Grimm will proceed." "Per the Arizona Republic, the interview could happen on Wednesday or Thursday evening in Arizona, or possibly on Sunday, the day after the division-round game." Hooray! It was getting depressing hearing all the reports that Grimm, B. Schotty, etc. weren't even willing to interview. It's in Grimm's best interest to interview even if he really isn't interested. But, here's hoping he's actually interested - of the "hot coordinators," he's my favorite. Thoughts on Grimm? http://twitter.com/PatrickMoranBSD/status/7717601270 Per Patrick Moran Update: Russ Grimm tells the AP he'll speak to Bills about the HC job, but probably not until their postseason is over.

Shanahan source says cost could be $50 million

Via Yahoo Sports, via Vic Carucci: "You're probably talking about $50 million over five years and maybe even a piece of the team," said a source close to Shanahan. "And by all indications, Wilson is ready to have that conversation." Good freaking lord.

Great Article about Fred "Thomas"...err...Jackson

Tom Brady's a big-time star. So big, in fact, that he can't be troubled with small, meaningless details...like say, the name of the RB on the team he's about to face. "Thomas, the running back, had a great game against us last year to end the year," Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Wednesday on a conference call with Bills reporters. Here's hoping Freddy makes his name even more well known on Monday night.

It's official - 2010 draft moves to prime time

Per PFT, the 2010 draft will begin on Thursday night with the first round, rounds two and three on Friday night, and finish Saturday morning. A sad, sad turn of events for my second favorite sports weekend of the whole year.

Redskins select Jarmon in supplemental draft with 2010 third round pick

There were a few people around these parts interested in pursuing Jarmon in the supplemental draft...for the right price, of course. Well, according to the Redskins and their horrid front office, that price is a third round pick next year. We have no idea if the Bills pursued Jarmon, but thank god they didn't waste a third round pick next year to get him.

Help Vote Van Miller into National Radio Hall of Fame

Van Miller, the Bills longtime play-by-play announcer, has been nominated for the National Radio Hall of Fame. Voting is open to the public, but an online registration is required. All self-respecting Bills fan should cast their vote for Van. The online balloting will close at midnight on Aug. 1st. Van has called games from 1960–1971 and 1977–2003 and holds the record for NFL announcers with the same team.

Bills host tryout for 100 players

Three University at Buffalo products -- guard Jeff Niedermier, offensive tackle Ray Norell and safety Adekunle Akingba -- were among 100 players showcasing their skills during a tryout with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Niedermier previously worked out for the Cleveland Browns during their rookie minicamp. Norell (6-6, 306) had an earlier tryout with the Cincinnati Bengals. ---Allen Wilson I hope Mark Wahlberg was there too.

Marino invited ex-Bills QB Jim Kelly to his retirement bash at then-Pro Player Stadium in 2000....

Marino invited ex-Bills QB Jim Kelly to his retirement bash at then-Pro Player Stadium in 2000. Kelly grabbed the mike, surveyed the joint and said, "We used to call this Rich Stadium South." "Boo if you want," Marino told the crowd." Just one more reason I love Jimbo. From a Palm Beach Post article discussing the history of trash talking in Miami

Bills 1st three home games sold out

"The Bills announced today that individual game tickets for their first three home games are sold out. That means the Tampa Bay game (Sept. 20), the New Orleans game (Sept. 27) and the Browns game (Oct. 11) will be full houses at the Ralph this fall." Holy crap. I didn't even realize season ticket holders could purchase individual games yet. I better start collecting orders. Also, I love the Bills and I love going to games at the Ralph, but this is getting ridiculous. No playoffs in 9 years and a crippling economic downturn, yet the Bills have already sold the 6th most season tickets in team history.

Are the Bills looking for a new stadium?

WBEN picked up a story originally posted by The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. In the original story, the company that built the Cowboys' new stadium has supposedly been approached by the Bills. Mark Williams, the associate principal architect of HKS Inc. was quoted saying: "We’ve been working with the [Minnesota] Vikings for about nine months, and they are still trying to get their funding. The [San Francisco] 49ers and the Buffalo Bills are thinking about doing something and also the [San Diego] Chargers and maybe the Atlanta Falcons. Those are the potential new stadiums in the NFL."

Peters Passes Physical, Trade Talks Started in January?

Peters passed his physical...big deal. The more interesting piece in this story is that according to a Philly team source, the trade has been in the works since the Eagles loss to Arizona in the playoffs. Seems like the Bills either had no real desire to sign Peters long term, or they were quite aware of how unlikely they would be able to reach an agreement.
