Woops... Not a good way to get a job in the Leaugue.... Maybe he was a little angry over his release

Mark Purdy of the San Jose Mercury news states the following:

"If my little birdie is correct, new 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has not just been talking with Alex Smith about whether he wants to come back and play for the team. The two have also been out on the practice field, doing quarterback drills.
If that doesn't point to Harbaugh seriously considering
bringing back Smith as a backup quarterback -- and Smith seriously considering a return to the 49ers -- I don't know what does"

With the CBA being what it is and the lack of a true starter in the draft, this might be the best way to go. Perhaps Harbaugh thinks he can get a few more good years out of Smith and buy some time to develop a QB in this years or next years draft. Perhaps he is just evaluating Smith. If they do choose to sign him, this would be a great way to get the playbook into the QB's hands for all of the secret player practices we have heard rumors of....

Hired as an offensive Coach but no specifics per usual with Harbaugh... The article also reports that the Niners are looking at hiring his brother Barry as well...

How many offensive coaches are we hiring? Is there still room for Rathman and Solari??

I tried to search around a bit to see if this was already linked on the site... My apologies if it was. But still, its worth taking a look at. Granted he doesn't have defensive linemen running at him but still impressive. Other than a couple miscues on some outside routes, even his "misses" were catchable.
