and yes, it is in football. Granted it probably wont be for another seven or eight years, but what the hell.

Please be true....

Gophers football coach Tim Brewster wasn't kidding when he said he wanted to play Texas. So Gophers athletic director Joel Maturi has scheduled Texas on a home-and-home series with the dates to be set.

The Gophers and Texas have met only once in football. In 1936, under coach Bernie Bierman, the Gophers defeated the Longhorns 47-19 in Minneapolis.

This is exactly what we wanted. Payback time. I still have trouble sleeping over that 1936 loss.

The state's most intense rivalry, baylor vs a&m, is in it'd 4th OT right now.

and A&M has shot 55 free throws, making just over half of them.

This is a must win for both teams. Baylor wants to stay in the top 25 and A&M absolutely cant go 0-3 in conference in their first b12 home game.

Hank and everyone else went to the Big 12 Championship in Houston at "Alamo Field" to watch Texas play Nebrasky.

Hank was in an Earl jersey (he's over 14, so he shouldnt wear one) and Peggy was in a Nobis jersey (at home).

Really solid episode to start the season. Make sure you watch it when it comes back around.

When Texas loses, Bobby says "Is it alright that I feel like I dont want to live anymore?"

Also, Hank is talking about Texas's bowl options: "They might go to the Peach Bowl or the Gator Bowl or, God forbid, the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.

Looks like you'll be able to watch the game on texassports.tv.

The only catch is you wont be able to see it until the game is over since that would interfere with real TV.

This is good news for us out of town cable subscribers, or those that just don't want to pay $30.

Remember this time last year when a little company called "NetSpend" hired Vince as their spokesperson?

Everyone outside of Austin called this another reason why his agent sucks.

Turns out NetSpend just got paid, to the tune of 700 million.

Capital One buys NetSpend

I think it's quite obvious why Capital One bought the Austin company... they wanted to meet Vince.

In other news, Summers Eve spokesperson Merrill Hoge had a Hungry Man dinner tonight whilst playing Super Tecmo Bowl with him as the featured back.

LA Times: Vince just got lucky

Opened the paper this morning and started reading about all the unlucky things that have happened to the LA Area teams. Apparently, Vince wasnt unstoppable in the Rose Bowl, he just got lucky.

USC held a 7-3 lead in its BCS title game against Texas when Longhorns quarterback Vince Young seemed to touch his knee down before throwing an option pitch that went for a touchdown. The play was screaming for a replay review, but on college football's biggest stage of the season, the replay-review system malfunctioned, depriving officials of the right play to review. The illegal touchdown stood, setting up Young's final scrapbook moment — fourth-and-five from the Trojans' eight, an obvious passing situation. USC plays it that way, looking for a pass that never comes, as Young pulls the ball down and sprints for the pylon for the winning score. Texas fans and the national media immediately declared Young "unstoppable," but here we saw it differently. Here we are aware of the truth. Here we know that twice in that big game, Young was nothing but awfully lucky.

Laughable, man! HA. Sorry guys, we've been had. Vince isnt really that good. Back to earth.

They weigh in on how it affected programs such as ours and Ohio States. They mention it because of UCLA and USC's incoming freshman, OJ mayo and Kevin Love, are most like one year guys.

For the college programs, it's a curious problem. If star recruits play as well as expected, many may leave after only one season. If not, well, that probably means the team underachieved.

DJ gets some ink in there too.

I think the best quote was from Matta who said you absolutely can't pass up these kids, but you don't want to become a program where guys just come to "put in their time."

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-onedone30jun30,1,6408687.story?coll=la-headlines-sports

In their annual big 12 board meeting, the suits decided to move the championship game to Saturday, instead of hours before Selection gets set. THis is fantastic news since it's been pretty obvious in the past couple of years that the winner of championship game hasnt benefitted much.

It won't start until the 08-09 season though.

The basketball tourney will be in Kansas City next year and OKC the following.

...............................................................

Oh my. Heath out at Arkie. They're eyeing Gillespie... big time.

According to the same sources, Heath will likely be replaced by Texas A&M coach Billy Gillispie. One source even maintained that Gillispie has agreed in principle and could be introduced as soon as Monday.

Road Trip Guy, I'm looking in your direction.

Seems like that's probably why we get so gassed in the 2nd half of games. If someone could just slip them a baggie of orange slices (on ice, of course) and maybe a few Capri Suns on their way to the locker room, we're a Final Four team for sure.

Otherwise, we're going to have to watch KD with his hands on his knees more than we'd like.

Then we'll read a Bill Simmons article claiming Barnes can't coach.

It's either orange slices or methamphetaimes, and I'm pretty sure the latter would get us in trouble.
