Vince Young takes McNair's sons to Pro Bowl | tennessean.com | The Tennessean
Great article on VY taking Steve McNair's kids to the Rose Bowl. His maturation has been one of the highlights of this NFL season.

ESPN Reports Jevan Snead Going Pro
After a monster junior campaign where the former Horn completed 54.4% of his passes and had 20 touchdowns against only 20 interceptions, Jevan Snead has decided to enter the NFL Draft. All kidding aside, I always liked Jevan but he really could have used another season in college.
DMN's Cowlishaw: Colt McCoy is my Texan of the Year
As the Heisman presentation draws closer, Mr. Cowlishaw does a great job of helping us remember how lucky we've been to have Colt McCoy on campus.
A Quick Review of the Final Coaches Poll
As noted by 2Bearnest in the Fanshots, the final USA Today Coaches Poll was released this morning (Link here). Let's not forget these polls make up 1/3rd of the BCS formula. Bo Pelini ranked Texas #1 so maybe we should lay off the "Stay Classy Bo" talk for a while. Texas also received #1 rankings from Bobby Akey of Idaho, Tim Brewster of Minnesota, and Mark Dantonio of Michigan State.
Among the most stunning decisions, I submit the following:
1) Les Miles (LSU): ranked Cincinnati 8th! Behind 2 loss teams Oregon and Ohio State!
2) Charlie Weatherbie (UL-Monroe): Was the only coach to rank Texas 4th (behind TCU and Cincinnati) despite UT ripping apart his team to the tune of 58-20. Imagine what Cinci would have done to them! Okay, all those teams are undefeated, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt on that. Then Mr. Weatherbie completely omitted LSU! In his eyes, LSU isn’t Top 25 caliber, but Troy, East Carolina, and Houston are. He also had Northwestern at 16!
3) Dewayne Walker (New Mexico State): Didn’t think Nebraska and Ndamakong Suh were top 25 material, but was the only coach to rank Nevada!
4). Gary Pinkel (Missouri): Pinkel ranked Boise State 9th. Yes, 9th, behind Oregon (who they beat) and Ohio State.
5) Troy Calhoun (Air Force): Coach Calhoun thought Florida was so impressive in the SEC title game that he wanted to give them a chance at a rematch! Yes, he ranked Florida #2 ahead of Big 12 Champ Texas, TCU, and Cinci.
Did anyone else spot an indefensible ranking?
Mandel: MNC the "Granddaddy of all Mismatches"
Let the media beat down officially begin. As for Mandel, who I usually agree with, let's not forget he called Matt Barkley the next Joe Montana two weeks into the season.

The Daily Texan Roasts OU
The annual editorial war between the Texan and the Oklahoma Daily came out today and not surprisingly Texas won. OU's response is anemic at best, but I had to FanShot this because the Texan's letter was undoubtedly the best I've seen them do in this series.

Any sign ideas?
Colorado Leans on Stewart, Not Scott at RB
Darrell Scott was awesome against West Virginia. 4 carries for 5 yards.
Baylor Star QB Robert Griffin Out for Season
Griffin tore his right ACL during the first half of Baylor's 68-13 win against Northwestern State. Make no mistake about it, Baylor is cursed.
HB adds- Bumped to front page because of PB's man-crush on Mr. Griffin. I hope that he comes back at full strength next year. You never know with ACL injuries.
ESPN's Anti-OU Smear Campaign Uncovered
Don't know how I stumbled upon this, but it's worth a chuckle to see how one delusional OU blogger caught 4 examples of ESPN burning the Sooners for not giving more attention to Landry Jones historic performance against a Conference USA runner-up.
Check out this fan at the Clemson- Georgia Tech game. Clemson came back from 24 down but still lost by a field goal. This kid took it very, very badly. Chris Fowler, Jesse Palmer, and Craig James provide hilarious commentary (some of which was aired on ESPN).
CNNSI's Andy Staples believes Sergio's hit on Taylor Potts was textbook and clean, albeit "especially hellacious."
Leach on Kindle's Hit: "Really obvious helmet-to-helmet"
I prefer Muschamp's Take:
"I liken it to holding. If they call it, it's holding. If they don't call it, it's not. They didn't call it." So there was nothing wrong with Kindle's hit? "Nothing. Great hit," Muschamp said.
Mandel: UT had Struggles but Beating Tech is Still Noteworthy
I commented something very similar to this at the DTN Game thread. Yes, Tech was not ranked. But, you're crazy if you don't think they will be at the end of the season. We beat a team a lot better than Tennessee today. Also, we learned that UT can win against a quality opponent even when Colt has an off night.
USC's Barkley Dominates San Jose State; Proclaimed the Next Joe Montana
Never underestimate the media's love of all things USC.
Now it feels like football season. Colt McCoy is featured on the latest ESPN the Magazine cover. I highly recommend you read the cover story.

Set your calendars for August 12th and 13th.
Yes! It was an Aggie who broke into the A&M Complex!
Aha! The criminal mastermind behind the much publicized break-in at A&M's football complex was indeed an Aggie who though writing "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You" in athletic tape would lead police off the trail! Turns out it was someone who had access to the facility via keypad and who had a beef with the athletic department. Maybe it was a debt collector? Anyway, no charges were filed so, unfortunately, we may never have a mugshot of the criminal to post here.
Vandals Break into A&M Football Complex
From the Article: "KBTX-TV reports athletic tape was used to write the words "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You" on the carpet of the locker room."
Who vandalized in athletic tape? How long did that take?
Happy 4th, Fellas.
