UT Class of 2004
Great article on VY taking Steve McNair's kids to the Rose Bowl. His maturation has been one of the highlights of this NFL season.
Texas gets the Miners at home without having to give up a return trip to El Paso.
After a monster junior campaign where the former Horn completed 54.4% of his passes and had 20 touchdowns against only 20 interceptions, Jevan Snead has decided to enter the NFL Draft. All kidding aside, I always liked Jevan but he really could have used another season in college.
As the Heisman presentation draws closer, Mr. Cowlishaw does a great job of helping us remember how lucky we've been to have Colt McCoy on campus.
As noted by 2Bearnest in the Fanshots, the final USA Today Coaches Poll was released this morning (Link here). Let's not forget these polls make up 1/3rd of the BCS formula. Bo Pelini...
Let the media beat down officially begin. As for Mandel, who I usually agree with, let's not forget he called Matt Barkley the next Joe Montana two weeks into the season.
Things couldn't get much worse in Norman....
The annual editorial war between the Texan and the Oklahoma Daily came out today and not surprisingly Texas won. OU's response is anemic at best, but I had to FanShot this because the Texan's letter was undoubtedly the best I've seen them do in this series.
Darrell Scott was awesome against West Virginia. 4 carries for 5 yards.
Griffin tore his right ACL during the first half of Baylor's 68-13 win against Northwestern State. Make no mistake about it, Baylor is cursed. HB adds- Bumped to front page because of PB's man-crush on Mr. Griffin. I hope that he comes back at full strength next year. You never know with ACL injuries.
Don't know how I stumbled upon this, but it's worth a chuckle to see how one delusional OU blogger caught 4 examples of ESPN burning the Sooners for not giving more attention to Landry Jones historic performance against a Conference USA runner-up.
Check out this fan at the Clemson- Georgia Tech game. Clemson came back from 24 down but still lost by a field goal. This kid took it very, very badly. Chris Fowler, Jesse Palmer, and Craig James provide hilarious commentary (some of which was aired on ESPN).
CNNSI's Andy Staples believes Sergio's hit on Taylor Potts was textbook and clean, albeit "especially hellacious."
I prefer Muschamp's Take: "I liken it to holding. If they call it, it's holding. If they don't call it, it's not. They didn't call it." So there was nothing wrong with Kindle's hit? "Nothing. Great hit," Muschamp said.
I commented something very similar to this at the DTN Game thread. Yes, Tech was not ranked. But, you're crazy if you don't think they will be at the end of the season. We beat a team a lot better than Tennessee today. Also, we learned that UT can win against a quality opponent even when Colt has an off night.
Never underestimate the media's love of all things USC.
Now it feels like football season. Colt McCoy is featured on the latest ESPN the Magazine cover. I highly recommend you read the cover story.
Set your calendars for August 12th and 13th.
Aha! The criminal mastermind behind the much publicized break-in at A&M's football complex was indeed an Aggie who though writing "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You" in athletic tape would lead police off the trail! Turns out it was someone who had access to the facility via keypad and who had a beef with the athletic department. Maybe it was a debt collector? Anyway, no charges were filed so, unfortunately, we may never have a mugshot of the criminal to post here.
From the Article: "KBTX-TV reports athletic tape was used to write the words "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You" on the carpet of the locker room." Who vandalized in athletic tape? How long did that take?
ESPNU Interview's Austin Wood (via telephone) after his legendary performance in the longest game in NCAA History.
