Tim Toone was Released Yesterday.
I facebook friended Tim Toone after the draft and he posted on his wall that he was released yesterday. I like the guy but he didnt show nearly as much in the preseason games as he did in the practics that I attended. Either way do you think he finds his way onto the PS or does he get claimed by another team.?

Lions Sign C.C. Brown
According to pro football talk the lions have just agreed to terms with recently released saftey C.C. Brown. He previously played ofr the giants but was benched for inconsistent play half way through the season. One thing is that the guy can hit; 3 forced fumbles last season. Worst case scenario he should be an excellant gunner on special teams. Best case we have a solid, young (27) situational safety, considering our dbs maybe even a starter. Heres the link.

Adalius Thomas cut by Pats
So according to PROFOOTBALLTALK.COM. Adalius Thomas has been cut by the pats. I know he is a little older but he isnt injured (like Bullocks) so could he play OLB or MLB in a 4-3. I know he has only ever played in a 3-4 but he was a monster a couple of years ago.

Darren Mcfadden to the Lions???
So some rumors have been swirling from both PFT and Killer on MLive that the Lions are interested in DMAC who is now on the trading block for whatever reason. The question is what would you give up for a 22 year old former top 10 pick? Reports are that it may be a 3rd and if we are gonna take a back in the first 3 rounds anyways then I say why the hell not! Plus maybe we can "Mayhew" Al davis into taking a 4th and a 7th

Lions Trading for Chris Houston
Apparently Detroit will be trading our 6th round pick and flip flopping our 5ths with Altanta for Chris Houston. He is still you, 25 or 26 and was a former 2nd round pick. He is mostly know to be the only CB to hold down Megatron in his last year of college ball. If I remember correctly he held him to 1 catch for under 20 yards. Either way a starting CB for a 6th rounder is gould. Mayhew and Schwartz continue to impress!

What the Lions Draft could have been...post Draft Mock
Many of us our dissapointed with this draft so I took it upon myself to figure out who we could have taken...tem me what you think
1a Matthew Stafford - Regardless of how anyone feels this pick was done
1b Michael Oher - I have him graded as the second best tackle, big, mean, great character, should have been a top ten pick
2 Rey Maualuga / James Laurinitis - Middle Lineback is a huge need for us so we take 1 of the best two LBs in the draft
3a Michael Johnson - Previously predited as a top ten pick, one of the most physicall gifted players at DE in the last 5 years...coaching could make him a pro bowler
3b DJ Moore CB - Arguably a 1st round pick and a complete ballhawk, adds depth and big play ability to the lions secondary
4 Sammie Lee Hill DT - I actuallY like this pick, hes big and a freak athlete
trad a 6th and 2 7th round picks to move into the 5th and select
5 Cornelious Ingram TE - without his injury he would have been ranked as a late first early second round pick....good block and great reciever
7 Rashad Jennings RB - Small school rb with good speed and can play 3 downs...very good kick returner and projected as a possible 3rd round pick
Thats how it could have gone folks...give me a grade
Pre Draft Thoughts/Final Mock
As we all now assume, Matthew Stafford will most likely be taken with the #1 overall pick. I think its a good decision, even though I was split between him and Curry. This is a move for the future of the franchise, and I'm not even talking about the "future face" crap. for the first time in maybe 40 years the Lions will be taking a qb who (I PRAY), will not be thrown to the wolves and will eb able to have a year, possibly 2, depending on the currently impressive Culpepper. Its true we need many positions more so than a QB but the brass has made some smart(a. henry, r. williams, m. morris, b. johnson) moves and some rather ballsy ones (j. peterson). I have faith in the franchise for the first tiem in years.
Secondly I rate our most needed positions as OL, DL, S, MLB. Some may disagree. It is clear that our line is garbage but I am unconvinced on most of the LT's this year. personally hope that Oher falls to 20 but that may be unlikely. If not I hope we adress the need with the best interior lineman with our 3rd round pick. The reason I am not saying the 33rd is because I want Louis Delmas badle. While are secondary has been improved this guy is a beast, I CMU and have seen this guy several times and I have two words for all of you BOB SANDERS, without injury conerns.
Also those with interest in Peria Jerry should no that he is best suited for a Tampa 2 style of defense and I would say with fair certainty that he will not be our pick, even if he falls to 33. Manny people have Z. Hood rated higher.
Finally my (both ideal and reasonable) mock:
1a. Matthew Stafford - not a need pick but if the franchise gives hime time to develop could be a top 5 qb in 3-5 yrs.
1b. Michael Oher - he may not fall but I dont see 4 LTs being drafter before 20, look for this pick to be traded
2 Louis Delmas - best safety in the draft with good coverage, and a nasty hitter, home run player the lions need in the secondary
3a. Ron Brace - Big immovable DT, hes got the power to take on multiple defenders, good quickness
3b.Derry Beckwith - big strong MLB, could but on some weight but he is a ball hawk
The rest of the picks are tossups but I LOVE Tim Jameson the DE from Michigan, SHOULD BE ABLE TO GEM HIM IN THE 6TH OR 7TH....
POD Mock draft Help
Hey guys, I pulled the Dolphins in the Pride of Detroit Mock draft...and we are on the board. I know most of you like Larry English at 25 but with Darrius Heyward Bay still available I am leaning towards taking him. The value seems better as I feel you could Sintim in the 2nd. a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a
Jason Smith not a top ten pick, I was right !!!
http://blog.mlive.com/highlightreel/2009/04/scout_baylor_offensive_lineman.html
Follow the link to this article which gives a in depth analysis of why Jason smith is not a top ten talen and how character issues from Andre Smith and Michael Oher Vaulted him from the late first/early second to the top ten of the 2009 nfl draft. Also there is an article on Mlive.com about how Jerry Jones thinks that Matthew Stafford is a future Pro Bowl QB.... if anyone is interested.
Why Staffor is the right choice, PLUS MOCK
There has been a lot of heated discussions on POD regarding the first overall pick and who Detroit should use it on. Many of us feel Curry, who is widely regarded as not only the best defensive player but also the safest pick in the draft, should go number 1 overall. Others feel that our offensive line is in need of serious retooling, and therfore the top 2 rated tackles (Smith or Monroe) should be the pick. And finally somewhere in the minority there are those who believe Matt Stafford is the pick. I have been on all three bandwagons at one time or another (especially Curry), but after truly considering the situation, here is my argument for why Matthew Staffor should be the number 1 overall pick (if we cant trade out of it which would be the best case scenario).
Physically Stafford is a prototypical NFL QB. Nearly 6'3 225 and ran a sub 4.8 40 yd dash at his pro day. He would come into the NFL and immediately be in the category of 3-5 players with TRULY elite arm strength. He has very good accuracy and over 36 starts in a true pro style offense. He also scored 10 points higher than any qb in this draft on the wonderlic test (38).The arguments against Stafford are that he is inconsistent, and that he relys on his arm stregnth too much. i AGREE that he does. The kid is 21 years old and wants to play for DETROIT. I know normally it would be about the money but this kid seems to really want to be here, probably because of Megatron.
The reason he is the right pick is because both smith and monroe are NOT top talent left tackles. What most people dont realize about the draft and the combine is how twisted it makes everything, 5-6 rtound picks go to the combien and become 1st round picks (Clay Matthews anyone), inconsistent play but physical freakishness vaults you from late first to top ten (Vernon gholston). The truth is that sometimes these things work out (Mario Williams), but usually they dont. 2-3 months ago Jason smith and Eugene Monroe were late 1st to 2nd round picks. The ONLY reason they have no become the top 2 tackles are because of character issues. NO ONE has either player graded as high as jake long and Joe Thomas who were legit picks a YEAR before they came out...
Stafford would have been in contention for the 1st overall qb off the board next year between hime and Bradford, those who say Tebow or especially McCoy (the kid is only 6'0) are crazy. So take him now.
We have a year to sit him and he will still only be 22
he is physically elite
there is NOT a tackle worthy of #1 overall (if you think there is you dont know football)
the LB core has been greatly improved and a solid if not spectacular MLB can be had with a late first to 3rd round pick
an offensive guard may be as beneficial as a LT at this point as Backus may not be great but if we put someone other than a scrub next to him lets see what happens.
A face of the franchise is importamnt....
But remember, TRADE THE PICK IF YOU CAN!!!
MOCK
1 M. Stafford
1b P. Jerry DT
2 James Laurenitus
3 Herman Johnson
3b Victor "Macho" Harris
POD Mock Draft...Could use your help.
Hey guys, I chose the Phins for the Pride of Detroit Mock and was wondering who you guys think the dolphins should take at 25. I have been been focusing on recievers (nicks or heyward bey) and LBs (Cushing, Matthews, Sintim) but I also am wondering if you feel there is a need at CB, especially with the possibility that Vontae Davis falls. let me know everything, who you want, who you dont and who you would love to fall to 25...Thanks

My New Mock....Realistic !!!
After the Bears/Cutler trade I sat downa dn began to think about what the Lions should REALISTICALLY do to be competitive again in the NFC North...After a fair amount of research I have com up with the following: Keep in mind that Loadhoalt is a beast that could start at any offensive line position besides center, he is 6'8 360lbs and has had a great pro day, also 70 percent of pro bowl ineman are taken in rounds 3-6....
1. Matt Stafford QB
1b. Peria Jerry DT
2. James Laurinitis MLB
3. Phil Loadholt OT
3b. Victor " Macho" Harris
What would you grade this and do you think it is REALISTIC?
How the Cutler/Bears trade affects Lions Draft.
Assuming as most people do that the Lions will take Matt Stafford #1 overal, I believe this trade seriously hurts Detroits draft plans for the # 20 pick. Most of us have hoped that Rey Mauluga would be ther at 20 and while the 12th pick would have been to high for Denver to move on him, the 18th pick from Chicago gives them the perfect spot to take a guy they really like... What will Detroit do?
Cutler TO BEARS....oh NO
eSPN JUST REPORTED jAY CULTER TO THE BEARS...DEAL AGREED UPON IN PRICIPAK....WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GONNA GIVE UP......ALSO WHU DOES THIS POST HAVE TO BET AT LEAST 75 WORDS, IM TYPING NOW JUST TO GET THIS POSTED...Also do you think orton will be release? I wouldnt mind detroit taking a chance on him, stille ten words to go this is realy f-n gay why doesnt someone change this word rue
