Tuesday Question: Part II
(Ed.: F'paged.

For you the Rebel faithful, what will it take to salvage the season...and possibly Nutt's and Nix's Ole Miss careers? Obviously responses will vary. Some will say nothing short of a championship will do, while others will say a respectable bowl appearance and a win over either State and LSU/Bama. There are also the Ole Miss fans that long ago accepted the fact that WAOM and this kinda thing just happens to us. After all, Masoli was cleared the day before; we'd used up all the good will the sports gods have for Ole Miss in a given period. For me, I wouldn't be surprised if we did something ridiculous like compete for the West this year, just because we are Ole Miss. I don't think that will actually happen but it could. For this to be a good season, we just need to go to a bowl game. Don't let this loss define our season. Do some other things to make people remember the 2010 Rebels: spectacular plays, SEC wins, a winning season. And the defense needs to start acting like fucking landsharks again--like when we play Arkansas I want Mallet to be on the ground so much that Gonzo's ass starts to hurt. This loss will always sting, but if we do these things, it'll be an ok season.
I really thought we had a shot...
The most ridiculous thing about this is that State won!
This is not going to end well for us...
They'll probably end up scheduling our LSU and Alabama games on the same day...and they'll both be away...and Boone will make the team ride the bus. I hate Birmingham
MSU's One Game Season
One year ago, Ole Miss handed the boys from Starkville a proper ass-whoopin'. 45-0. Maybe you remember. We dominated every aspect of the game. We had more sacks than they had rushing yards. Significantly more. It was wonderful to watch, but we Rebels soon let the victory slip away into the realm of memory because we had better things to do...like expose Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl, get ready for the 2009 season, play 11 other teams before State, drink, buy a new Grove outfit, go to a real job, date beautiful women (or men). The Bulldogs, on the other hand, have certainly not forgotten. There are two reasons for this. 1.) We pounded their ass so hard they have to remember every time they sit down. 2.) For the Maroon and White, the Battle for the Golden Egg is their season.
Our boy Devin
Sure he got beat, but ESPN apparently really likes the kid. Also, he played pretty damn well considering. He's got big things in his future.
Summertime Blues - The Five Greatest Bars in Oxford
Any discussion of the best places in Oxford is incomplete without a list highlighting the top 5 places that give Ole Miss and Oxford part of its reputation. No, not the top sorority houses to sit in front of on game day—I’m talking about bars. Everyone’s got their favorite local watering hole, but some are far and away better or more iconic than the rest. This is a pretty select list, and, not surprisingly, you want find anything too far off the Square. That includes Night Town Illusions which is “slightly west of the Square” *cough, cough*, and for those of you who supported Huddle House and Sonic on the Breakfast list, you’ll be disappointed not to find Chili’s and Applebee’s here. Nevertheless, whether you’re looking for a place to lazily take in the Square or get your swerve on with one of those “blonde” sorositutes or something in between, Oxford has got a mixed drink waiting for you.
Rebel in ESPN's Top 10
Ole Miss alum and current Florida Marlin outfielder Chris Coghlan made the Top 10 plays with a fantastic diving catch. Sorry i don't have a link straight to the video, but the link is right on the home page. If someone more tech-savvy than me can post the video or a real link, please help a playa out.
Calm down Arkansa, he's only ACTING like he's coaching the Hawgs
Here's a link to an ESPN article about the upcoming movie based on "The Blind Side." The are some good pictures of the various coaches on the movie set. Its interesting to see all of these guys because none of them are currently at the schools they coached when the movie is set. The Satan at LSU, Nutt at Arkansas, Fat Phil in Knoxville, Tubby on the Plains, Holtz in S. Carolina, and Humma-gumbo-fooball with the Rebs. Now everything has changed of course. Nutt mentions how he was nervous about representing the Hawgs on screen but did so out of respect for Mike. Saban had to have a team meeting to discuss his upcoming appearance as LSU's hc, adding that he hoped Bama fans would be big enough to understand this is a true story and it has nothing to do with his allegiances (read: money). Anyway, good article for a slow day, and I look forward to seeing this on the big screen.
Gonzo Logic=Meyer's Stupidity
In case you missed it: Florida and Meyer self reported secondary violations. I can't believe the "stupidity" of all these SEC coaches.
Where's the love Lindy?
Lindy's Football has picked our beloved Rebels 9th in their preseason Top 25, but think we're going to finish 3rd in the race for the West.
