Black Heart Gold Pants A Quick Review of Next Year's LBs

LB is definately the position that has me the most nervous going into next year - especially LB depth.  As of the start of next year we'll have:

2 Seniors: Tyler Nielsen and Bruce Davis.  Nielsen will likely take his spot back at LEO (assuming he is completely healed) and Davis has the inside track on the other OLB spot.

2 Juniors: Terrance Pryor and Cameron Olson.  Neither of these guys have played in a single game yet.

3 Red shirt sophomores: Shane DiBona, Dakota Getz, and Marcus Kloos.  DiBona played in a limited capacity through most of this season; Getz played in a couple of games but didn't accumlate any stats and Kloos did not play at all.

6 True sophopmores: T.J. Fisher, Christian Kirksey, Matthew Meyers, James Morris, Jim Poggi, and David Ryberg.  Of these only Morris has played in even a single game.

4 True Freshmen: Quinton Alson, Cole Fisher, Mike Orloff, and Melvin Spears.  It is impossible to tell whether any of these will be able to help contribute in their first year.  I could note that it is possible to add one other name to this list: Rodney Coe.  I realize he was recruited as a RB, but there has been some speculation that he could play as a LB as well - a position he played well in HS as I understand.

It is a very, very young LB corps that is light on experience.  Behind the three likely starters of Nielson, Davis and Morris there is only DiBona and Getz who has played in even a single game - and of those two ony DiBona has any stats.

Time to hit the panic button yet?

Black Heart Gold Pants Wegher headed to Oklahoma

[Ed. Note: Once again, please do not copy and paste the ENTIRE TEXT of an article.  That's plagiarism and we don't allow it.  If there isn't enough text for a proper FanPost, make it a FanShot. -- Ross]

It was only a matter of time before he found a new home.  Apparently he will be facing Iowa State again next year, but wearing a new uniform:

Dakota Dunes, S.D. - Former Iowa running back Brandon Wegher is set to enroll at the University of Oklahoma.

Black Heart Gold Pants Freaking HILARIOUS Big 12 parody - funny enough for BHGP

The excellent authors and scribes who toil away sharing their artistic expression of pure bullshit have spawned copycats over in Big 12 country.  The folks over at Bring On The Cats (the SB Nation site for Kansas State) have come up with a parody of a Big 12 meeting discussing the coming football apocalypse all based on the classic 12 Angry Men.  This is some SERIOUSLY funny stuff - I about peed myself reading it at work.

If for no other reason, what these guys do to Iowa State in this piece is worth the read alone.  Enjoy:

Black Heart Gold Pants Hampton out for the year

Ferentz has announced that Hampton is out for the year.  After all of the hype of his season being over followed by all the "what's the big dea" we are now back to his season being over.  Well - Paki has one thing on ALL of the other RBs - he is the only one that hasn't been injured for at least part of camp this year.

The weeping and wailing may now comence....again.....ofically....

Stampede Blue Phillip Rivers gets punked by a High School QB

Just thought this story from Yahoo! Sports would bring a smile to some faces:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Philip-Rivers-gets-beat-by-a-high-schooler-does?urn=nfl,176581

For all of the crap Rivers and his devoted minons throw around about how he "should" be regarded higher than either Manning it's good to see him humbled like this by a high school kid.  I doubt this will make NFL Live - but as many people as possible should see this.
