Lone Star Ball LSB Community Prospect Project: Mid-Season Wrap-Up.

Did somebody let stupid Liam Poppins bring soccer up in this bitch?

I only ask cause... WE HAVE A TIE!!!

Official results:

19% LHP, Michael Kirkman. 29 votes 19% SS, Luis Sardinas. 29 votes 18% RHP, Daniel Gutierrez. 28 votes

So, after one of the closest votes ever,  after each receiving 19% of the votes, Michael Kirkman and Luis sardinas have both been named the LSB Community #14 prospect!

And, so... That's it.

We only go to 15 at mid-season, and that's 15.

Wanted to do one more, but Sardinas and Kirkman wouldn't separate, and, besides, fuck it.

FINAL LIST:

1. LHP, Martin Perez.
2. RHP, Tanner Scheppers.
3. OF, Engel Beltre.

So sad it's over.

What will I do with myself? Guess I'll just ride off gracefully into the sunset, and then when I get there I suppose I'll get drunk and do sex e-mails at Brian Thomas like I always do...

Don't forget to post your personal lists in the comments so you have something to point to when no one believes you in a couple years when you tell them you were the one who was correct about all the prospects back in the day.

Love all you guys but AJM, and see ya in the Winter for more fun-themed activity things of this nature.

Lone Star Ball LSB Community Prospect Project: Mid-Season #11

After garnering 48% of 180 votes, Jake Skole has been named the LSB Community #10 prospect!

Couple spots too low, imo, but I've seen worse, both in terms of CPP votes, and in terms of me luring hobos up onto rooftops and then pushing them off because I like to watch their reactions as they realize that, "Oh, no! I'm doing fatal plummetings!!!"

That vote was a little sluttier, but it wasn't as slutty as I'd like for it to've been.

Lone Star Ball LSB Community Prospect Project: Mid-Season #1

Put those sex-ointments down and stop cleaning your kitchens, ladies and bitches....

It's finally time for everybody's favorite meaningless in-season community exercise: The Lonestarball Community Prospect Project.

And kindly uncle Dirkatron is back in the saddle, so these might actually be fun again!

PENIS!
PENIS!!!
PENIS!!!!!

These are always interesting, and the discussion the votes generate is often more fun than the voting.

For those of y'all who are new to the LSB CPP party, it's pretty simple: Over the next month or so I (TheDirkatron) and only I will be running a series of daily polls asking you to vote for the prospect listed on the poll you think is the "best", with the winner coming off the poll and being added to the master list. It's a fun way of taking the community's pulse when it comes to who's who among our young talent.

Again: This vote is to determine how the LSB community would rank the players currently in the system. I've listed any guy I thought could possibly be considered a threat to be our top prospect.

Also note that we WILL be including recently drafted players, even if they have not yet been signed. Every year we do this and every year we have to engage in pointless debate about why these guys deserve to be on the list. Bottom line: For right now the T-Rangers own their rights, and until they fail to sign them (thereby relinquishing those rights) we're going to count them as Rangers' property. If they don't sign, then it's an easy move just to cut them off the list. (Oh, Matt Purke... we hardly knew the sweet taste of your prospect-y grundle-skin...)

This should be much easier this year as we've already signed our two first rounders.

So please let's not have any douchebaggery regarding this issue this time, yah?

Since things can change quickly in-season and we want this to be as close to a "snapshot" as possible, I want to get through these as fast as possible. I'll try to leave each one up at least 24 hours and then get right into the next one, with no run-offs. If a vote is close, then a vote is close.

So please check in daily if you don't want to miss a vote. (I can't stress this enough... these are gonna go by quick, so if you wanna be part of the fucking heat pears we're doing here, make sure to check in every single day.)

For a frame of reference, CLICK HERE to see the top 30 list you pear-loving douchebags came up with (sans Dirkatron) over the Winter:

#1. RHP Neftali Feliz

#2. LHP Martin Perez

#3. 1B Justin Smoak

#4. RHP Tanner Scheppers

#5. RHP Michael Main

#6. LHP Robbie Ross

#7. RHP Wilmer Font

#8. RHP Danny Gutierrez

#9. RF/DH/1B Mitch Moreland

#10. LHP Kasey Kiker

#11. SS Jurick Profar

#12. C Max Ramirez

#13. RHP Blake Beavan

#14. RHP Pedro Strop

#15. CF Engel Beltre

#20. OF Miguel Velazquez

#21. RHP Eric Hurley

#22. 3B Tommy Mendonca

#23. RHP Wilfredo Boscan

#24. LHP Michael Kirkman

#25. LHP Edwin Escobar

#26. RHP Neil Ramirez

#27 SS Luis Sardinas

#28 RHP Braden Tullis

#29 C Vin Difazio

#30 LHP Robbie Erlin

There are some tough decisions to make regarding who's eligible or not, and I tried to keep those guys I thought had a reasonable chance of still being rookies this winter, and eschew those who I think are pretty solid bets to no longer be rookies.

Guys who are no longer eligible include:
1b, Justin Smoak. (Bigs)
C, Max Ramirez. (Bigs)
RHP, Neftali Feliz. (Bigs)
RHP, Michael Main. (Sold to finance Tom Hicks' golden sex-cauldron)
RR, Pedro Strop. (Bigs)

Guys who are close and/or in the bigs but are still eligible include:
RR, Alexi Ogando. (All of 11 ip so far... hard to break the innings minimim pitching relief... always a threat to be sent down)
RHP, Omar Beltre. (Only 2 gs so far... prolly goes back down as soon as Harden or Holland gets right)

Now let's get to voting, you stupid ignorant man-sluts.

And, as always, don't hesitate to tell me if there's someone you think should be added to the poll next time.

Also, I hate each and every one of you.

I love you guys.

Lone Star Ball THE DRAFT IS FULL OF UNBELIEVABLE SUCK, JUST GIVE UP NOW IT DOES NOT MATTER GOOD BYE

It's Draft Day, sluts.

I'll post as many links and info as I can here as it comes in throughout the day.

I'm guessing AJM will come around and do some rapes on an official thread for the draft itself, but here's where all the day time rapes should go.

Any links or info just drop it in the comments and I'll update it here throughout the fucking day.

I love genitalia.

VIDEO HUBS:
1. Baseball America's YouTube Channel.
2. Prospect Tube.

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER VIDEOS:

I'll only post some individual links to vids of some of the more interesting dudes below. Usually I'll only do one vid of each dude, but you should be able to use that to find more related content if you so choose.

ANDY'S BLOG: Make sure to direct some of your precious web traffic to LSB board member turned draft guru-slash virginity slayer Andy Sieler's excellent SBN nation blog: MLBBonusBaby. Seriously... go there often... drive up his traffic... make him famous... he'll buy me a wise-cracking parrot maybe if he gets famous he said. (He did not say this.)

HOW TO MAKE A BASEBALL ORGASM: The Professor of Sex is on Twitter, and will from time to time drop little kernels of draft knowledge as part of his ongoing dissertation on how to make my baseball pants explode with delight.

-------------------------

UPDATE 5

Mayo's latest mock at MLB.com

15. Texas Rangers: Alex Wimmers, RHP, Ohio State
This is the pick they need to sign, since they won't get compensation for the selection if they don't.

22. Texas Rangers: Kellin Deglan, C, Langley Blaze, BC
With O'Conner off the board, the Rangers could go with next-best prep backstop.

UPDATE 4

Frank Piliere has released his draft day mock and has a nice surprise at #22...

15. Rangers | Kolbrin Vitek (2B) | Ball State
The Rangers have done an outstanding job of keeping their lips sealed this spring, but I think they will simply wait for the best bat to fall to this spot. Brentz is a fit here, as well as high school hitters like Kellin Deglan or Matt Lipka.

22. Rangers | Zack Cox (3B) | Arkansas
There has been heavy industry buzz that Zack Cox could take a serious tumble down the board given his asking price. The belief is that Cox has a home somewhere in the 20s with a team that is willing to consider his price tag. Despite doubts about their financial situation, many in the industry believe that team could be the Rangers.

UPDATE 3

ex-Ranger scout Frank Piliere is doing a live chat RIGHT NOW over at MLB Fanhouse, which I've been assured is not a "house of rape", as some have claimed, but rather a baseball site where Mr. Piliere writes words at you.

UPDATE 2

Sieler's mock(a bit old... from June 2nd):

15. Alex Wimmers, RHP, Ohio State - Though Wimmers is an option for a few teams before this, he's likely a backup option in each slot, making him a natural fit here, where the Rangers could pay him slot money in an unprotected draft slot. A lot of names have been thrown around for this slot, but when it comes down to it, it makes the most sense to go with the simplest answer, which is Wimmers.

22. Kaleb Cowart, 3B, Cook County HS (GA) - After going relatively safe with their first pick, which is unprotected, I expect the Rangers to be a little more aggressive with their second pick. That could mean Cowart, who is also a big pitching prospect. He wants to hit, though, and the word is that the Rangers are willing to let him do that for the right price, which is easily over slot.

-----------------------

UPDATE 1

BA's Jim Callis' morning mock

15. RANGERS. Though the Rangers have declared bankruptcy and the franchise is in the process of being sold, their draft budget will give them the flexibility to go over slot in spots. This pick is unprotected by compensation, so they may play this one safe and spend elsewhere. Texas loves the athleticism of fast-rising Georgia high school outfielder Jake Skole, and he should be easy to sign after not dreaming of going this high two weeks ago. If the Rangers want an athlete with a more proven bat, Vitek could fit the bill.
PROJECTED PICK: Jake Skole.

22. RANGERS. Texas could spend for Castellanos or Grandal here. If the Rangers decide to stick at slot, they could take Brentz, Wojciechowski or Workman.
PROJECTED PICK: Bryce Brentz.

------------

I don't have Insider, but according to an LSB poster (who shall remain nameless, but he once boasted he was "hung like a minority who snuck onto a cruise ship bound for the US Virgin Islands"), the Klaw has us taking Brandon Workman at #15 and Karsten Whitson at 22

He also apparently mentions Luke Jackson, whoever the mother fuck that is. AJM prolly knows him, cause it sounds like he's a bad person, so AJM prolly ruined his marriage or slept with his nanny or something.

Lone Star Ball 5/11 (+ 5/12 Now) MiLB: (Double) Hate Rapes on AJM Edition.

Yay, minor league baseball.

Good thing AJM stays out of these, cause if he ruins my minor league threads like he does all my hate threads I'd start acting crazy.

5/11 Schedule:

OKCKirkman on the mound-bump. Just started, and Kurt Suzuki hit a homerun.

FriscoAlready happened. Long story short : Lots of rapes in this game, none of them by us. Frisco's players are all the suck. Blieir sucked especially hard, though. Garr also sucked, but he's Brennan Garr, so... I dunno. I don't care is what I guess I'm trying to say.

BakersfieldBrigham goes tonight. Late cause it's in California, which has not one but two rivers that are shaped exactly like my man-penis.

No Hickory tonight, probably cause they hate AJM and his dumb rapes, too.

Shroomer's Site is awesome, even though I don't care for the man himself. Quite full of himself. If he had a horse, it'd be a high one. Walks around like he owns the Queen of England, when I happen to know to a 99% certainty that he does NOT own her, cause that's dumb.

I love you guys.

UPDATE: Now the official thread of people who want to do hate rapes on AJM and are also in the mood for some sexy 5/12 MiLB prospecting action.

OKC. 11 AM start, Moscoso on the dirt mound for pitching.

No Frisco today.

Bakersfield. 12:30 start, Boscan on the dirt mound for pitching.

Hickory. 6 PM start, Font on the dirt mound for doing angry pitching rapes.

Lone Star Ball LSB's Official Signing Deadline Thread

Tonight's the night.

12pm Eastern is the deadline for signing all non-college seniors from this year's draft.

There should be a flurry of news coming tonight so I figured it be good to have one place to discuss all the news as it breaks.

Some general News so far (updated as I can):

* Cardinals sign 1st rounder Shelby Miller for 2.95 million bonus. Highest announced bonus yet. Good comp for Purke?
* A's sign 4th rounder (And 1st Round Talent) Max Stassi for 1.5 million bonus. Bad for us.
* D-Rays announce they won't be signing either of their first two picks. Um, wow. They spent big on some signability picks already, but this sucks for everyone involved, imo. But I'm sure your clients will thank you later, Scott.
* Heyman twooted that the Nats have offered Strasjesus 12.5 million, but there's still a gap.

RANGERS' Shit:
Matt Purke
is the name on everyone's mind. Our 1st round pick needs to get signed today or he goes to TCU and we get a pick in next year's draft. Yuck'ems to that.

http://startelegramsports.typepad.com/foul_territory/2009/08/matt-purke-update.html

Just about 13 hours to go until the 11 p.m. deadline to sign 2009 draft choices, and the Rangers continue to negotiate with first-round choice Matt Purke. The left-hander has been in town since last week, getting ready for a possible freshman year at TCU and also taking a physical and attending Saturday’s Rangers game with his parents. He met with several members of the club brass, who believe a deal will be reached.

This dispatch came from general manager Jon Daniels late last night: “Not much to say right now. I think both sides would like to see him in a Rangers uniform, but we’re not there yet. This is the system we have in place, and as such, we didn’t expect anything before tomorrow night. Hopefully it comes together, but I can’t say for sure at this point.”

That’s about on par with the Justin Smoak negotiations from last year. That ended well for both sides. Purke, though, seems to have a genuine fondness for TCU, and the Tom Glavine fan has been given No. 47 for next season.

I’m not so sure Smoak had any desire to return to South Carolina for a senior year. So, the TCU thing is leverage. But not signing today and waiting until the 2011 draft is a gamble, especially considering some believe Purke could be in the majors in 2011 or 2012.

— Jeff Wilson

Then there's Tanner Scheppers, who isn't on tonight's deadline because of his senior elgibility-ness, which means he can be signed at anytime up until one week before next year's draft. Don't expect anything on him today.

We also have a number of other interesting players who could be in play tonight.

9th rounder Jabari Blash is a super uber toolsy OF from a Florida Community College. The fact that he hasn't signed yet is a pretty good indication he's asking for well above slot.

10th rounder RHP Thomas Lemke is a tall, lanky peice of projection out of an Arizona HS who is apparently looking for a mid-to-high six figure deal to sway him from college. He'd be a nice add, but who knows.

Then there's 32nd Rounder Reggie Williams, Jr., who I super heart cause I super heart pure CF'ers who can go get the freaking ball, and Williams has the best speed in the entire draft. He's expected to go to college next year, though. I'd put the odds of him signing tonight at less than 1%.
