Why isn't anyone talking about this guy and the absolutely incredible start he's off to. Today he went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double which raises his average to a cool 390. Does anyone have any opinions on what the Rangers should do with him, whether he stays at catcher, and if he can keep anything close to this up for the duration of the season.

Also - does anyone know what Chris Withrow's status is? When and where he'll begin this year?

Mark Prior was non-tendered by the Cubs. Someone will obviously take a chance on this guy, where does he end up and will he ever be a serviceable starting pitcher. He sure has taken some strange turns since 2003.

http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071212&content_id=2324381&vkey=news_chc&a mp;fext=.jsp&c_id=chc

Marcus Giles released

Marcus Giles was released by the padres today. I would like to see the Cardinals inquire about getting him, an infield of Ryan at SS and Giles at 2b would be pretty decent. I can't imagine Giles asking for more than a few million dollars per year. The only problem with this is that it still leaves the Cardinals without a true lead off hitter. In any case I think he would be a good fit in St. Louis.

Chris Duncan and why he's not playing everyday

Can someone please explain to me as to why Chris Duncan is not yet an everyday player for the Cardinals? It seems to me (and I know this might sound crazy) but it benefits baseball teams to have their second best hitter in the lineup. I know that most of the time that Duncan is not used it is against a lefty which to me makes no sense. the only way that Duncan is going to get better against left handed pitching is for him to face it in a game situation and learn to make adjustments. There have been many fine left handed hitters that came to the major leagues and initially struggled against lefties but over time were able to actually start games against left handed pitchers. I think it would be in the Cardinals best interest to see this season as what it is - a lost cause - and begin to build for the future. This involves giving Duncan more playing time and calling up Rick Ankiel and seeing what he does against major league competition.

2 more things -

please sign Kyle Russell

for the love of god take down that text messaging screen at the games, I thought I was going to a baseball game not a damm carnival.

this kid is absolutely raking, he is 20 years old and already batting .315 at AA. If he continues to perform like this for the rest of the year and into next is there a chance that he could force out Yadier? For the cardinals this is an excellent problem to have, i'm just wondering if anyone has any opinions on what will happen.
