The Beginning of the End?

68

The beginning of the rest of the season started off about as poorly as possible, and the 2012 Eagles look destined for a spectacularly disastrous end. Is there any resolve left in this team to fight back, or have the players (and coaches?) given up?

Klausner: The Beginning of the Rest of the Season

The bye week has come and gone, Andy Reid has completed his team-wide evaluation, one sympathetic soul has lost his job, and a new hopeful savior has been anointed. Welcome to the rest of the season, Eagles fans.

Revisiting the Juan Castillo Hiring

16

I did this when the Eagles released Jaiquawn Jarrett, might as well do it for the Juan Castillo firing. Time to look back on what I wrote that fateful day.

So Nice To See You Again, 2011 Eagles

I yearned for the Eagles to be focused, play smart, and put forth a dominating effort against the Lions, but they did not oblige. Instead, they excreted 60+ minutes of sloppy, uninspired football, punctuated by a 2011-esque collapse.

Eagles/Steelers: This Time, They Couldn't Win Ugly

The Eagles have made a habit ouf of winning ugly this season. Yesterday in Pittsburgh, however, they regressed to the mean. The good news: Eagles are 3-2. The bad news: That record feels more and more like a mirage each week.

Scouting College Football Saturday

3

With conference play underway, the college football season is in full swing. Here's a mini previews of this weekend's game, as well as a few of my own thoughts.

Eagles Vs Giants Review: Cardiac Kids at it Again

A stout defense, turnover-free Michael Vick, and heavy dose of Shady led the way. Yet another late-game comeback topped it off. The Eagles defeated the Giants and sit atop the NFC East, but they'd be wise not to start smelling themselves just yet.

Coming Back Down to Earth

The Eagles couldn't overcome myriad mistakes for a third week in a row and were handled easily by a determined Cardinals team. The lesson: Don't keep playing with fire just because you were lucky enough not to get burned the first few times.

Eagles Vs Ravens Review: Ugly? Yes. Sweet? HELL YES!

1

It wasn't always pretty, and it may have come at a price, but the Eagles manufactured more late-game heroics and pulled out a gutsy win against the Baltimore Ravens to move to 2-0. Suffice to say this looks like a different team from years past.

Eagles Cut Jaiquawn Jarrett: Why It's Okay to Admi

+

The Eagles made something of a surprising move in releasing Jaiquawn Jarrett yesterday. Hopefully the decision is reflective of a more critical self-evaluation process taking place within the walls of the NovaCare Complex.

Eagles Vs Browns Review: It Doesn't Feel Like 1-0, But It Is 1-0

+

Wasn't that fun? The Eagles started the 2012 season with a stinker of a game against the hapless Cleveland Browns. Despite a comedy of errors, they managed to dig deep and pull out the victory to emerge from Week 1 at 1-0.

My 2012 Philadelphia Eagles Preview, as well as predictions for the rest of the NFL.

Philadelphia Phillies: Why Angel Pagan is a Better Signing than Michael Bourn

+

Michael Bourn's name has been bandied about for months as the Phillies' potential solution in center field for 2013 and beyond. But is there a better option?

The Philadelphia Eagles Should Sign Plaxico Burress

This has been kicked around numerous times before, and there remains no indication it'll happen. Still, I've come around on the idea. The Eagles should sign Plaxico Burress.

Andrew Bynum Trade: Buyer Beware, But Who Cares?

The Andrew Bynum trade was one the 76ers had to make, but the acquisition is not without plenty of risk. Then again, you don't get anywhere in life without taking risks.

2012 Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp Preview

+

The last of the veterans report to Lehigh today for the start of Eagles training camp. And with that, the 2012 season is officially underway. Here's my preview.

2012 Philadelphia Phillies: Blow It Up?

+

Times are tough for the Phillies. Is this season just a blip on the radar or indicative of an accelerating downward trajectory? I believe it's the latter, and this is my proposal to ensure a better future for our beloved baseball team.

A 2012 Philadelphia Flyers Offseason Plan

+

My personal mock 2012 offseason for the Philadelphia Flyers, complete with trades, the draft, and signings.

A Letter To Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman -

+

Time for a stroll down memory lane, as I take a look back at a letter I wrote to Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman in September 2010.

Eagles Offseason Review: They're Doing It Again

+

In honor of the rookie minicamp that took place over the weekend, I decided this would be a good time to review the Eagles' 2012 offseason -- one which will prove pivotal to the future of the Andy Reid era.

2012 NFL Draft Preview

My personal look at the 2012 NFL Draft.

Flyers Season Review/Eastern Conference Playoffs

+

A look back at the Philadelphia Flyers' 2011-2012 regular season and a look ahead to the playoffs.

2012 National League Preview And Predictions

My (slightly belated) 2012 National League Preview, with an expanded scouting report on the Phillies.

2012 March Madness Preview & Predictions

+

There's no better spectacle in sports than the first two rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Here's my preview of the madness that is about to consume both the month of March and an entire country.

Flyers Trade Deadline: A Plea to Paul Holmgren

+

The NHL trade deadline is a little over 72 hours away, and the chaos has already begun. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren made two moves earlier in the week in an attempt to help shore up a leaky defense, but rumors abound (well, at least they were abounding) about whether the team might be interested in adding a more notable impact player.

Moving On: 2012 Philadelphia Eagles

+

There's always next year -- right, Eagles fans? Time to officially leave a dreadful, nightmarish 2011 season behind and look forward to what we can only hope is a better 2012. Here's an initial, way-too-in-depth look at the upcoming offseason.

Owning What You Write: Cam Newton, Current NFL Star

+

I wrote a not-so-nice article about Cam Newton and his pro prospects nearly a year ago. This is my mea culpa. Also, thoughts on the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.

Catching Up with the 2011-2012 Philadelphia Flyers

+

Thirty games, numerous story lines, and loads of drama. Sounds like just another season in Flyer land.

2011 Philadelphia Eagles: The Dagger

+

Thank God that it's over. The Eagles were no match for Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the New England Patriots and got blown at home, essentially bringing to an end a disastrous 2011 season. It was ugly, it was final, and it was merciful.

2011 Philadelphia Eagles: Season Saved... Again

+

You had a feeling they'd do this. The Eagles, once again with their backs against the wall, showed serious resilience as they fought and clawed their way to a 17-10 victory over a divisional rival.
