New MLS in Seattle Update

So I just got an email from them with the results of the team name vote. The new name is...

Seattle Sounders FC

Pretty cool that it got picked considering that it wasn't even one of the official options. 49% of the votes were write-ins that had some variation of Sounders in it, and 33% were for Seattle FC, so they combined the two. Sounders was my vote, so I'm pretty happy about it.

Mariner's Mailbag question induces vomit once again

The question, hopefully being posed by someone under the age of 10, is as follows:

If you have a pitcher in the rotation that has a decent bat, is it possible to DH another position player instead of the pitcher?

Sam Perlozzo finally got the big, ugly axe from the Orioles... Bullpen coach Dave Trembley takes over in the interim, and their top candidate for permanent replacement is Joe Girardi.

We all knew this move was inevitably going to happen. The only surprise, for me at least, is that it took them this long to get him out. The Orioles are 15 1/2 games out in the East, and their season is over. All of this after spending $42 million on their (terribly mismanaged) bullpen.

So for all of us M's fans... It could always be worse
