Music City Miracles Tennessee Titans First Rookie Drills

I really hate this time of year. It's got to be the most frustrating crap ever invented. I waited all day to get a report from the first rookie sessions and when The Tennessean finally posts it... they manage to describe only one catch by Britt (that was out of bounds) and one catch by Cook (tho they make him sound like a stud).

Ugh... I could write a much better summary of events. Anyway here is the link:

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090501/SPORTS01/90501087/1027

I wonder how much the Titans FO bribes them to be vague and unspecific.

UPDATE: Okay, Jim Wyatt decided he could do a better job. I have to agree. I get a better impression about the rookies from his article. Check it out:

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090501/SPORTS01/90501087/1027

He also waxes poetic about Cook here:

Wyatt loves Cook blog entry

PK Chimes in too. A lot of good info

Music City Miracles Patrick Ramsey visiting Titans

The Tennessean is reporting that Patrick Ramsey is visiting the Titans to possibly compete with VY for the #2 Qb spot.

Here is a link to the article:

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090310/SPORTS01/90310009/1027

I think this means either one or two things:

a) VY hasn't looked good in practice at all and is likely about to spend his last year on the Titan's roster.

b) Fisher thinks that the competition will drive VY to work harder during the offseason.

What do you guys think?

Music City Miracles Best blog ever!

It sucks that our season is over, but I wanted to take a minute to thank Jimmy & August for an awesome year!

I am biased but this has got to be the best sports blog ever.

We get aggitated when other fans come over here to chat, but I think it's because of our great community.

If you posted for the first time this year keep it up! Keep coming back during the offseason.

2008 was awesome at MCM and 2009 is gonna be even better.

Music City Miracles Why the Hawk don't fly yet.

Hey guys,

Here's a good article at the Tennessean about Hawkins. I pretty impressed about the job Wyatt did in this one. He goes into detail about Hawk's development and why he hasn't made it to the field yet.

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081009/SPORTS01/81009020/1027

I need more words, so I will say that I am real excited about Hawk. I think he will turn out to be a real good reciever.

Music City Miracles Peter King is smokin somethin..

Check this crap out:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/video/peter_king/2008/10/06/king.5.SportsIllustrated/index.html

I don't know how you can even call this reporting. It seems to me that Peter King took a small bit of actual fact and the rest of it is all conjecture and wishful thinking.

Hoge and King must buy from the same dealer. I used to like King's articles, but he's become too full of himself or something.

Fisher never tells the 100% truth to the media, but I would be very very surprised if they cut VY next year.

Music City Miracles Titans lock up Roos for the long term

The Tennessean is reporting that the Titans have signed Roos to a 6 year contact.

The article is here:
http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080425/SPORTS01/80425117/1027

This contract makes him the third highest paid Tackle in the league.

It's good to see the Titans spend money on a quality player. It also gives me hope that they will in fact lock Haynesworth up for the long term.

In addition, it looks like they are looking to extend Stewart as well. With us signing Scott in the offseason our O-line is looking good for the next few years.

Music City Miracles I just wanted to say...

HOW ABOUT THOSE MEMPHIS TIGERS??!?!!!? WHOO!!!

My wife is in the midst of a long labor, but I had to take a time out to comment on that dominating win over UCLA.

If you told me a couple weeks ago that we would be playing Kansas for the National Championship, I would've told you that we would kill them.

However, after seeing them man-handle UNC has me a little worried. It will be a good game, but I believe Memphis is in the zone.

Who's rooting for the Tigers?

Music City Miracles Guess who's coming to town.

Just wanted to make sure everybody saw this, since we've been discussing him so much in the comments.

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080304/SPORTS01/80304134/1027

Kearse will be in town tommorrow. I have a good feeling he will be staying. He knows Nashville, he can't ask for too much money, and we need help at DE.

Music City Miracles Or did they?

The Sporting News is reporting that Crumpler's agent is denying that a deal has been done with the Titans.

Here:

These people really get on my nerves sometimes. I am optimistic that the deal is going to get done, but geez. Quit playing with our emotions!!!

Music City Miracles Tennessee Basketball

I was reading Kayne's post (great idea BTW) and I realized not as many readers live in Tennessee as I thought.

None the less, there is a huge game coming up Saturday.

The #1 Memphis Tigers vs. the #2 Tennessee Vols.

Does anybody follow College Basketball?
If so, Who you rootin for?

Memphis all the way!

Also, College Basketball in Tennessee is getting pretty competitive. Even Vanderbilt is pretty good!

Music City Miracles Mushin Muhammad

The Chicago Bears released Mushin Muhammad.

I am not too sure of him. Here is the link:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/nfl/02/18/bears.muhammad.ap/index.html

Does anybody think he'd be a good fit for the Titans?

Bernard Berrian would definitly be the better choice I think.

Music City Miracles Lions fire Martz

Here is the link to the article on SI:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/nfl/01/02/bc.fbn.lions.martz.ap/index.html

I know Fisher would probably never go for it, and I don't think Chow is going to go to UCLA. That means he's probably going to be our OC again next year. BUT... I bet Mike Martz would have fun with Vince Young.

Fisher is run first tho, and Martz seems to almost never run.

I guess it's nice to dream tho.

Music City Miracles Rating the Titans' Regular Season

Since, I don't actually work when I am at work, I was able to read this on MSN.com:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7620808

Adam Schein, who I actually sorta respect, gave out regular season grades.

We are grouped with the Colts, Jaguars, Packers, Cowboys, and Redskins (okay that last one is not too impressive.)

The Titans got an A.

What do you guys think? Do we deserve an A for this season?

Music City Miracles Football Outsiders DVOA

Every week the Football Outsiders (football statistic scientists!) rank DVOA. I don't fully understand how they calculate the rankings and even if I did I am too lazy to post it so you can read about that here:

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/methods.php#dvoa

For week 9 the Titans were ranked 5th on Total DVOA, not that big a deal until they start talking about the greatest defenses of all time:

"We're also adding a third list, because while nobody was looking, the Tennessee Titans have built what might be a 2006 Bears/2000 Ravens-level defense. Really."

They go on to talk about our defense for another couple paragraphs. They agree with me about Pacman.

The article is here:

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/2007/11/06/ramblings/dvoa-ratings/5715/

It's a good read. I am anxious now for the week 10 list, because after sacking Carr seven times our defense should be ranked even higher.

Music City Miracles 6-2 is 6-2... Stop the madness!

Guys, Since when are we not happy with 6-2?

Some people [Joy Kat] enjoy criticizing our offense, and belittling our QB. I don't understand it.

6-2 is 6-2, and both of our loses are by a FG. Heck, if B. Jones catches that pass we're probably 7-1. The fans speak negatively, while even the press is showing our team some love.

If you don't like close games that are won by the defense and by the running game then why are you a Titans fan?

That's Jeff Fisher football; it always has been.  We need to score more TD's and less FG's, but we're ranked #3 in the AFC for # of trips to the Red Zone. We're right behind the Colts and the Patriots, so our offense is doing something right.

Let's enjoy this while it lasts instead of nitpicking a good team. 6-2 is awesome!

A look around the league:

San Diego 4-4
New Orleans 4-4
Baltimore 4-3
Chicago 3-5
St Louis 0-8

Our offense isn't bad. It's just not flashy and they need to finish drives. St Louis... now their offense is bad.

You can say what you want about our QB, but the proof is in the win-loss record and we're 6-2.

Music City Miracles Dr. Z Shows more Love. Titans Ranked 9th!

Dr. Z did it again. He's obviously the smartest writer over at SI. Here's what he had to say about the Titans:

"Tennessee Titans (1-1)
Battled the Colts down to the wire, beat the Jags in Jacksonville. A good team, unheralded. Well, I'll herald them. How do you do it again?"

Interesting to note that the only 1-1 team above the Titans is the Chargers. Below us? The Bears. That's pretty good company to be in.

Music City Miracles About Time! Fisher Extended until 2011.

I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief now after reading this article:

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070917/SPORTS01/709170338/1027

Sometimes Bud Adams worries me, so I wasn't entirely confident he wouldn't make a huge mistake and let Jeff Fisher go.

I love the Titans as a team, but I have to admit being a huge Jeff Fisher fan.

Music City Miracles Titans 15th in Preseason Power Rankings

Check this out!

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/peter_king/07/16/mmqb/2.html

It's good to see somebody giving VY some credit.

Some other highlights:

King says we will have to outscore our opponents this year. He may be right, unless we can pick up a productive defensive end off waivers.

It's hard to say before training camp, but I am more concerned about our defense by far. I believe VY will have good chemistry with his WR's and make things happen.
