I don't think this has been posted yet. Wagner seems to be a real renaissance man - I can't help but wonder whether he's actively trying to capture the "athlete but not meathead" market.

mmmm...meat market...

I must admit that I'm addicted to reading the comments at the end of the stories about the Indians. Sometimes I get mad, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I hit myself in the head over a stupid mistake I've made...

Thoughts:

-Mark shares our collective mencrush on Grady.
-This I feel is a given.

-He feels very comfortable hitting second, especially in this lineup.
-He seems pretty optimistic and hopeful (naive?) about Hafner.
-Uh-Oh

-He's not the most eloquent, camera savvy guy on the team
-I'm relatively surprised by this.
-Is he dipping?

"Where Wood carries himself with a certain aura that comes with his ability to close out ballgames with a blazing fastball, DeRosa comes in as the scrappy, versatile, whatever's-best-for-the-team type.

You've seen his kind before. His name was Casey Blake.

'There's a lot of similarities between those two guys,' Wedge said."

Japan takes the WBC more seriously than the rest of us

As much as I wildly prefer the Indians to the US national baseball team, coming from a soccer fan it's always surprised me just how little people here care about the WBC.
Injury concerns are greater in baseball than international soccer, granted. Will it take more time to gain tradition from which more respect will follow? Or maybe a change in the time of the year of the event?
The third option, of course, is that an international tournament will never be taken seriously for the game of baseball, but that to me seems a disappointing, albeit understandable, conclusion.
