I'm an 18 year old guy who loves sports. Especially Minnesota sports.
I've been a fan of the Vikings and Twins since I was 4, and became more of an avid fan around 8.

Owners, Players, agree to mediation
From NFL.com,
"The NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed to seven consecutive days of negotiations, a league source told NFL Network insider Albert Breer on Thursday, and the sides also will allow mediation in their labor dispute."

Ask a Vikings fan
Hey guys, Vikings fan here. Figured I'd come over and post this after I noticed someone else hadn't already done it. I'm here to (try) and answer questions about Sunday's scrimmage game between the Eagles and Vikings. So if you need to know anything about exactly how poorly we've played over the last couple of games, or what other former Eagle we plan on signing, myself (and possibly others) will be here.

Washburn to return?
Jarrod Washburn says he's not 100% he's retired, because "a great opportunity might present itself". It is also pointed out this "great opportunity" translates as close to his Wisconsin home, which leaves the Twins and Brewers, and I don't think he wants to spend his final year on a rebuilding team.
I finally agree with Mark Schlereth
ESPN analyst and noted Vikings hater Mark Schlereth speaks out about the hypocrisy in the NFL, regarding the league's new stance against "devastating" hits, and for once.....I agree with him :O

Poem "The Kestrel"
I don't know how many of you have been on the post "The Target Field Kestrel", but over there Robin G posted a comment that gave me the idea to write this poem. It took me about 20 minutes to write this once everything started flowing.
This poem is based on Edgar Allen Poe's narrative poem "The Raven"
Hope you enjoy!

Drew Brees to be on Madden 11 cover
It's not official yet, but it looks like Brees is going to win the vote, and the curse
163 Montage
I realize that this is a little late, but I found this really cool montage video on Youtube of the American League Central Division Tiebreaker game from 2009. I'd like to thank nadasfan for taking the time and putting out the effort to make this incredible video. (He also made a second version, which can be found as a response to this one on Youtube)
Enjoy!
Not your average Joe, Twins, Baseball need Mauer in Minnesota
A nice article I found on hotstove, talking about how the game of baseball needs Joe Mauer to remain a Twin
NFL Standings Update and predictions
Just thought I'd take the time to get everyone caught up on the Division Races around the NFL
I'll start in the NFC
East
Dallas 7-3
NY Giants 6-4
Philadelphia 6-4
Washington 3-7
My prediction: In a division that is completely up for grabs, I think Philadelphia will take this division, with Dallas and New York beginning to struggle, and Washington being well...bad, Philly seems like the safe bet
South
New Orleans 10-0
Atlanta 5-5
Carolina 4-6
Tampa Bay 1-9
My prediction: In the past couple of weeks, New Orleans has begun to look human, if Atlanta can get on a roll, they may just make it a race, but I still think New Orleans pulls this one out
North
Minnesota 9-1
Green Bay 6-4
Chicago 4-6
Detroit 2-8
My prediction: (WARNING: my contain bias) With an essential 4-game lead over Green Bay, the Vikings seem to have this division well in hand, with Chicago and Detroit almost gone, this is (somewhat) of a two-team race, Chicago needs to get hot fast, and beat Minnesota twice to have a chance. Minnesota takes it
West
Arizona 7-3
San Fransisco 4-6
Seattle 3-7
St. Louis 1-9
My prediction: Wow, what a division this is. Not much can really be said. Arizona has played extremely well on the road, which which will be enough to get them another NFC West title
And now on to the AFC
East
New England 7-3
Miami 5-5
NY Jets 4-6
Buffalo 3-7
My prediction: New England has established themselves as the clear front-runner in what looked like what was going to be a hotly contested division. With Miami's inconsistency and New York fading fast, New England has all but won this division. New England
South
Indianapolis 10-0
Jacksonville 6-4
Houston 5-4
Tennessee 3-6
My prediction: Indy. the only two things surprising about this division, is that Tennessee has been so bad this year, and that Jacksonville may be looking at a wildcard berth
North
Cincinnati 7-3
Pittsburgh 6-4
Baltimore 5-5
Cleveland 1-9
My prediction: After Cincy swept Pittsburgh, I was ready to give them the division, but after that game against Oakland....I just don't know what to think anymore. I'm going to predict that Baltimore rights their ship, and steals the division from Pittsburgh and Cincy
West
Chargers 7-3
Broncos 6-4
Kansas City 3-7
Oakland 3-7
My prediction: After a 6-0 start, the Broncos definitely looked like the team to beat, not only in the West, but the AFC, but after 4 straight L's from Denver, and hard-charge (no pun intended) by San Diego, the Chargers are a strong finish away from an AFC West crown, which I think they do
Anyway that's a quick look around the NFL for you. It's sure to be an interesting season, an exciting post-season, and a memorable Super Bowl
and by the way,
SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Madden '10 ratings released
Has anyone seen these yet? E.J. Henderson an 80? You rate a linebacker that can fly an 80? What is this world coming to? See for yourself on ESPN's website. I have a ways to go to reach the 75 word minimum so, I'll just use as many words as possible to in this particular run on sentence to see if I can get up to the 75 word minimum

Search Called Off
The Coast Guard called off the search Tuesday for the other three: Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, free-agent defensive lineman Corey Smith and former University of South Florida player William Bleakley, three days after their boat capsized Saturday.
certainly all of our thoughts and prayers from us here at the Daily Norseman, go out to the families of the missing boaters. all we can do now is hope and pray for their safe return.
Red Sox "already salivating" over Mauer
As the Mark Teixeira free-agent negotiations go, so might go the market for Joe Mauer, who can become a free agent after the 2010 season.
Teixeira, 28, is seeking a deal in excess of $20 million a season. Mauer, 25, the Twins' two-time batting champion and Gold Glove catcher, next season will be the Twins' third-highest paid player at $10.5 million. He'll make $12.5 million in 2010.
People in the know say the Boston Red Sox already are salivating over Mauer, who would be only 27 as a free agent. There have been no talks this winter about extending the St. Paul native's contract, in part because Mauer's value after last season is at a premium, and it's uncertain whether the seismic downturn in the nation's economy will affect baseball salaries a year from now.
Don't you just hate being the farm system for these huge payroll teams? However, I have the utmost confidence that Mauer will remain a Twin, regardless of how much he makes.
For all the disappointed fans...
This season hasn't gone that bad so far. Sure 5-4 isn't what we were expecting at this point in the season, but look at the games we've lost:
@GB 24-19
vs IND 18-15
@ TEN 30-17
@ CHI 48-41
you know, looking at this, we haven't been losing to much. We shouldn't be surprised, the Vikings are just doing what they are known for, losing close games. I mean, look at those scores. In each of those games, we were one complete pass, or one fumble recovery away from victory. We are just a couple breaks away from being 8-1 right now. If last year is any indication, the second half of the season will be alot of fun. I'm hoping for another 5-game win streak. Maybe we'll win out. Maybe we'll get slaughtered. Maybe every team except the Vikes, will become horribly ill, and must use third-stringers. Who knows? All I'm saying is, get ready for an exciting second half of football!
P.S. AP is leading the league in rushing, just so you know.
The Vikes QB situation
I was wondering what eveyone thinks of the Viking's QB situation. Gus won't be back next year, T-Jack i'm thinking won't start here again, and JD Booty I think will be a backup for his career.
I was curious, because I'm liking what I'm seeing from some Big 12 QB's. Colt McCoy and Graham Harrell in particular. Will the Vikes draft a QB in the first round, or will they say "who needs a young gun when there are all these 38-year olds available?"
my NFC North mid-season predictions
I've only been a sports blog nation member for little bit, but I did have some NFC North predictions at the beginning of the year, and now I can finally post them
Preseason Predictions
1. Vikings (12-4)
2. Packers (7-9)
3. Bears (5-11)
4. Lions (2-14)
Midseason report card:
Vikings: (4-4)
Wow, where to begin with my beloved purple? At this point, I expected T-Jack to be putting up respectable numbers, AP and Chester to be steam rolling opposing D, and a stout defense lead by a monstrous defensive line. Let's see what's going on now. T-Jack was benched, after TWO games, for Gus Frerotte. Who hasn't been doing that bad. Adrian Peterson is #2 in rushing yards, but still not what I expected. And the run D is just as good as it was last year, but the pass D still gets torched from time to time. Long story short, Preseason hype is not always a good thing. I give the Vikings a ||C+||
Packers: (4-4)
I never really thought that Aaron Rogers would be a great QB, at least not this year. For a while he was proving me wrong, but he appears to be falling back to earth. Maybe it's a product of his shoulder, but he's not who he was in week one and two. The overall D of the Pack has been a disappointment, considering where it was last year. Al Harris and Charles Woodson where considered the best bump 'n' run corners in the game last year, and coach McCarthy overlooked all the illegal contact and pass interference penalties they drew. They've been getting burned more recently however, and the penalties are still prevalent. Now Al Harris is out, leaving I guess what you could call a hole at CB. However, despite the things that have been going wrong for the Pack, they're still in it. I give the Pack a ||B-||
Bears (5-3)
These guys have been a surprise this year. The offense has been clicking, Kyle Orton has been good this year, the D has been, well, adequate. I'm not impressed with Brian Urlacher though. He demanded more money, got it, and now he hasn't been delivering for Da Bears. I have got to tip my hat to Lovie Smith, he knew the one thing that would get this offense on track, was to have a sure fire, no doubt starter at QB. It really helped the offense knowing who they had to rally around every week, and Kyle has taken control of this offense. But not all the news is good, the guy I was just mentioning (you know that Orton fellow) will be out for a month, so sorry Bears fans, it looks like Turnoversuarus Rex will once again be at the helm. Anyways, the Bears are surprising me, but I want to see how they handle the loss of Kyle Orton. I give the Bears a ||B+||
Lions (0-8)
I'll be brief. NOTHING is going right for the lions. However, Matt Millen was holding them back from climbing up out of the depths, so I'll be expecting some improvement over the next couple years. I give the Lions a ||D|| (I bumped them up for firing Millen)
Revised Prediction:
1. Vikings (9-7) Not what I had hoped, but I still think they can take this division.
2. Packers (8-8) They're just a .500 team, plain and simple.
3. Bears (7-9) The offense will sputter without Orton
4. Lions (1-15) C'mon, they can't lose them all right?
Well there's my opinion. Again this was my first fanpost, and I'd love to get some feedback, so just tell me what you think. Peace Out.
