Sekou Smith and Lang Whitaker interview Josh Smith
I haven't listened to it yet, but I figured some people might find it interesting to listen too before the game starts.
Cherrs!
(Zaza appreciation thread) In case you were wondering...
That's why Zaza is in the moto for this site. If you don't know what I'm talking about already then frankly you have no business here.
I demand that Drew come out of retirement to write something about this, because he's the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be when it comes to encapsulating everything that makes Zaza great.
Great game tonight. I'm so sick of losing to these guys so lets kick their ass from here on out!
Go Hawks!
Let's get something straight about Childress.
We lost him a long time ago. People that have been following the Hawks for long enough to watch them play before the Boston series three years ago should have come to grips with this long ago. He made it very obvious that he would never play here again. So the Hawks had no negotiating power.
Watch this link at the 2:34 mark if you weren't paying attention or you forgot. It's a youtube video of Childress laughing at the Hawks on PTI.

I was understood by anyone with a brain that we weren't going to get anything of real value for Childress and his ridiculous afro. So please stop pining for him, it only makes you look ignorant and stupid
What the hell, haters?
So we didn't get any new players, who cares? There are many ways that our team could be better next year.
First of all it's hilarious to see so many people, that were confident about Mike Woodson's incompetence, to the point that they thought that anyone who thought he was a good coach was a fool, now see no reason to think that a new scheme from a guy that would know better than anyone the problems with Woodson's tactics could possibly bring further improvement.
What happened to all the armchair point guards that were clamoring for Woodson's head? Did you need someone to bitch about, and used Woodson as a convenient whipping boy? Did you even beleive what you were saying then? I want to think the best of you guys, but you all look like hypocrites right now.
Meanwhile the Hawks are currently on a streak where they have been gotten better every year, and they could just as easily be better next year.
Case in point; Marvin Williams.
He was our biggest underachiever last year mostly because he was so passive. But keep in mind he was having no plays run for him in a system that was heavy on isolations. Also remember that Marvin was in the first year of his new contract when players have historically had down years.
If Marvin could get close to his previous season's contribution that would be a huge boon for us. It would not only give us another threat, but would lighten the load, and the coverage on everybody else.
But our biggest issue was rebounding. and it seems like the organization knows it as we have been looking for centers. Not that they are likely to find anyone good, but there's something about that Drew can do that your pariah, Woodson refused to do, play Al and Zaza together.
Then we have Jeff Teague who, with development, could potential stabilize the offense when things break down at bad times, and provide some much needed perimeter D. Or at least in theory he could, but at least now we get to find out.
And we might even start to see a limit to Joe's minutes! This would make us less reliant on, and save wear and tare on him so he doesn't break down in the playoffs.
Now, I've given you several reasons why we could be better next year, but while i'd like to take credit for them, I can't because I learned them all when many of you argued them to me during the last couple of seasons.
What happened? Are you all willing to contradict yourselves and give up what you believed then that easily?
What the hell, haters?
If you could add one player to the Hawks...
Who would it be?
Not trades, or draft picks, or free agents. But if you could magically place a player on the Hawks roster to put us over the top, who would it be?
Let's try to stay away from the obvious guys like Lebron or Howard. I'm looking for a role player that gives would give us somthing in an area we are lacking. So noone that you might see at the all-star game someday.
I'd take Thabo Sefolosa. He would give us the Perimeter defender we need. With his shooting stroke, he would fit right into the offense without demanding the ball, plus he reminds me enough of Zaza that I think they would form some kind of Hanson brothers-like bound of European awesomness.
What do you guys think?
Three Hawks in the All-Star Game?
Don't laugh it could easily happen. The coaches always reward the teams that are winning when it comes to All-Star selections. But don't let that convince you, He's how it could happen.
Guards- Dwayne Wade is a lock to get the fans vote, And lets assume the fans screw it up and vote in Gilbert Arenas for the other starting spot. That leaves four guards, Brandon Jennings, Joe Johnson, Rajon Rondo, and Vince Carter, for 2 backup spots. It's probably unlikely that this would be the year that Joe doesn't make it considering this is the best Hawks team he has been on so I think it's safe to say he beats out two of the three.
Forwards- Obviously Lebron and Bosh are going to get voted in which leaves Josh Smith in the mix with Danny Granger and Paul Peirce. You could make a pretty solid case that Josh is playing better than either of those guys right now, and if he continues to fuel the team with his rebounding, defense, and improved shot selection, the coaches will be hard pressed to leave him off given the politics of the situation.
C- Dwight Howard should absolutely be the fans choice here, but they could easily skrew it up and vote in Shaq. This would be very bad for Al Horford because the coaches would be forced to vote in Howard. However if they don't Boss is in a very tight race with Jokim Noah and Andrew Bogut. None of the three are clearly better than the other statistically, but Al has a big edge since his team is much better than the other two.
If one of our All-Star hopefulls doesn't make there are still two more roster spots that they could get, or they could be selected by the commisioner if someone gets injured. All in all I like all three's chances, but ironically if I had to bet on one of them not making it I would bet that Joe misses out.
