Ted Miller's been doing Best Case/Worst Case scenarios for all the Pac-10 teams. I only hope the Best Case comes true.

Interesting, too, how completely opposite the best/worst cases are. I think it shows that UCLA really could go either way this year

Offensive lineman Sonny Tevaga is no longer with the program. I am told it is an academic issue, and he will not be with the team in the fall.

Over on the WWL's Pac 10 Blog, they have been doing a series of "Mythical Matchups," pitting conferences together to see how they would fair. In this video, Ted Miller and Chris Low discuss the Pac 10 vs SEC match ups. Of course there's the usual USC vs Florida that everyone wants, but there's an interesting comment by Chris Low with around 2:00 left in the video, where he mentions that UCLA could be a top tier team in the Pac 10 this year, and that he expects them to beat Tennessee in 2009.

Sure, I think this is a given, but this does raise an interesting point that UCLA, as early as this year, could be competitive with mid-range SEC teams, and adding to the effort to legitimize the Pac 10 in the eyes of certain ahem voters.

Thoughts?

Ivan Maisel sits down with Ted Miller and Chris Low to pit the Pac 10 and the SEC head-to-head.

GO BRUINS

Ted Miller thinks Reggie Carter is the 20th best player in the Pac-10

Ranking the Pac-10's best players - No. 20 Reggie Carter

No. 20

Reggie Carter, LB, UCLA: It was hard for a linebacker to get much attention in LA last year with the big three at USC hogging the spotlight. But Carter could be the best linebacker in the Pac-10 this fall and don't be surprised if he plays his way into All-American consideration. He's a solid 6-foot-1, 240 with good speed and he's been productive both inside and outside for the Bruins. Last year, he moved outside due to injury issues with the LB corps and still led the Bruins with 83 tackles, which ranked 10th in the conference. Hard hitter? He forced three fumbles, which tied for fourth in the conference. He'll move back to the middle the spring and call the defensive signals.

By the way, he's still counting down from 30, so Im sure more Bruins will make their way on to the list.

Sound like pretty sweet praise to me. Go Bruins!
